DIY Archery Target Backstop w/ Horse Stall Mats - Full Build Walkthrough & Materials List
Спорт
In this video, I build a DIY Archery backstop. The bow and arrow target backstop is constructed from lumber and horse stall mats I picked up from my local ranch supply store. If you have neighbors nearby like I do, this is a great way to ensure any stray arrows stay on your property.

That is really cool.
Nice work. Those Horse Stall mats work great as a Backstop Material.

Thanks Paul! Yea, they work pretty well and last fairly long in the elements.
Great job!
How well did it work does it stop an arrow? I need to replace my target anyway as arrows are going straight threw and I lose them. But this would be awesome insurance

Hi Mitchell, I didn't shoot my mats on purpose, but there are a few videos on KZread of guys shooting the same mats with modern compound bows with field points. The arrows penetrate about 1/2 to 3/4 the length of the shaft. Thanks for watching!
It was a nice build video, to a point. Work on your follow-through and show the viewers the rest, and how well it works. Do that, and your sub count will increase exponentially. D.
Is it harder to put up with both of them on there? I have 2 horse stall mats in my back yard that I put up with...metal spikes. They were a real hassle to drag out there and standing them up was a pain too, but mainly because it was so wobbly and I'm not that strong. Now that it's up, I'm happy...but I wonder if your way is possible for me. I was only able to drag it with help from my nephews...so the weight of 2 may be too much...but I'm not sure if the wobbly nature of it also made it difficult. I want to build a basement backstop and am looking for ideas. My bottoms would have to be feet instead of stakes if I were to use it in my basement, haha.

This was very heavy with the 4x4 frame and 2 mats. I screwed eyebolts into the top of the frame and moved it into place using a tractor. It would be very difficult with only 2 people, unless you had something wheeled to move it around and some sort of pulley or block and tackle system to help stand it up.
Will it stop broadheads or crossbows? How bout both?

I’m sure it would. If I doesn’t, it would slow it down tremendously.
now that you've had a year to shoot at it---how often do you hit a screw? 😅

Luckily, I haven't hit the backstop at all yet. I'm sure my day is coming though. Before I built this, I lost a few arrows to target holders (giant spike with a washer welded on) at the local archery range.
