    I just sprayed Silk for the first time. I did a 50/50 with water. I sprayed 2 coats and it was very nice. I also sprayed General Finish top coat because I added water. However,I'm addicted and in love with Fusion mineral paint. I don't have to add water to it for my sprayer. Thats huge to me because it keeps the All In One undisturbed with water. As always Kim,thank you for all of your videos. They're to the point. (Love that)

    Wow you really watered it down and it did ok? I usually do no more than 10-15%. Yes that was a good idea - because thinning that much will change the durability for sure. You know I am a fusion girl first and foremost! You are so welcome - thank you for watching! :)

    What sheen does the fusion mineral paint produce? I am not a fan of the flat/matte look. Do you need a ventilated area to use the fusion paint?

    Well you certainly can - they just don't recommend :) . Considering it is an all in one that has the topcoat built in - I am sure really well. I use many any in ones (fusion, general finishes, etc.) and when the top coat is built in - no issues. Preference I guess if you want to add durability and I would on high traffic pieces. Thank you so much!

    My first impression is great. As for durability I feel like I need to continue to use it to really get a good feel for it. I will say it is a very scrub able paint from what I hear and you can add a top coat for additional protection on high traffic pieces/areas. I love it and plan to use more of it!

    If you generally spray does that imply you typically paint a solid color in your business . I love the artistic ability of artists blending but I really like a solid color piece of furniture

    I do yes. I have done blended looks by hand, but more of my business is single color. The silk can be blended but their mineral really is better for that.

    I have only used Fusion Mineral paint so far, but I like the idea of a little sheen. Is Dixie Bell Silk as easy/effective to apply?

  • @BorninaBarnBoutique

    @BorninaBarnBoutique

    It’s sets pretty quick, also they advise not to use with water to ease application, with fusion you can and it lays down a little nicer. I no longer use DB paint, it’s not a bad paint, I just can’t support a company I no longer believe in.

    @@BorninaBarnBoutique Can I ask why you don't believe in DB anymore? I've been painting furniture for the past year and have tried Fusion Mineral, Dixie Belle, Dixie Belle Silk, Heirloom Traditions All-in-One, Rustoleum Chalked...and my faves so far are Heirloom Traditions and DB Silk. They seem to level better than the others, resulting in a smoother finish for me (I typically use a roller). Thank you for your video, I reallly enjoyed it!

    I have several, I actually just upgraded to a Fuji Q4, I had a Fuji Semi Pro 2 and an Earlex 5500 (I finally retired that one). I would recommend any of these actually - some more expensive than others - the Earlex served me well for years, it was just time to upgrade due to the volume I do. Hope this helps

    I'm not having the same result. I am using the exact same paint and color and 1st coat went on fine but not after that. It dragged and created clumps and would not brush on after the first coat. Had to sand and now I am on 4th coat and used up the entire can! I am sooooo upset. what is wrong with my paint? Do I have a bad batch? I'm on 5th coat (top of dresser) and streaks and pulls and clumps because it won't brush on smooth at the top of a dresser I'm working on. Please helps! I have to order another batch and should not have to.

    So it could be the paint, its hard to say but sometimes the paint gets compromised in cold weather and can go bad. You can try using a damp brush and a water mister bottle in between coats as well that will help your paint glide on nice and smooth. If you are waiting the instructed dry time in between coats, the paint should not pull, drag or clump up. Are you waiting long enough in between coats? This paint was very easy to work with and I had used it many times after the video - never an issue. Unfortunately I no longer use this paint (not because of this paint itself - the company is one which I can no longer support). I would try contacting them and telling them your issue (they don't have the best customer service, but you may get lucky). This should not happen with this paint.

    @@BorninaBarnBoutique Thank you so much for your reply. My dresser is in my garage and I must wait 2 days between coats but I live in cold climate and its been in low 50's if nt lower since I began painting. It takes forever to dry so I wait a few days. I was told absolutely no water but I cant geet this paint on and I finished an entire jar on this dresser and now must gor for a second. I used it over BIN shellac and wondering if this has somethig to do with it too. Im so dissapointed I have to buy another. I just want the dresser done and out of my house! I chose Dixie Belle becasue of this specific perfect navy blue and for no other reason. I wont be using it again. There is only one retailer in my area that sells it and wondering if it was not stored correctly or had it too long before it was sold to me. I will contact Dixie Belle but not holding my breath. I really appreciate your feedback!

    Your video was very informative. It encouraged me to try this new paint, even though I am not a Dixie Bell fan. I know that one is only supposed to say positive stuff in comments, but your hardware choices really detracted from the finished piece. It was too much and too shiny. Smaller pieces would have made your piece look less than professional. I can say this because I worked in the NC furniture for seven years. You might consider do a video on hardware quality because there is. thanks again for sharing your knowledge and experience with us.

    Glad you found it informative. I don’t consider that negative about the hardware, but everyone has their own opinion and taste and is certainly entitled to it. I loved the hardware and so did the client that purchased and that’s what matters. I have been doing this for 6 years and have a good eye for color and design, but hey not every look will appeal to every eye 😀
