I love this and want to recreate this look! I looked into ordering this exact product and there seems to be a bit of a wait time in when I’d receive it - a few weeks. Is there anything comparable that I can purchase from Home Depot or Lowe’s so that I can work on this now? The idea of waiting is killing me lol! Thank you in advance for the information!
@@emily8735 have you tried searching for retailers near you? There are a lot of fusion retailers. No there is no product like this at the big box stores - the advantage to this product is its 10 min open time (most stains are 30sec-2 min) making blending way easier. It also have a the topcoat built in
How does cozy Current furnature salve work on Italian Leather ?

My threshold was painted and was peeling off so I sanded the area but some areas I just couldn't sand so I am hoping the stain will cover the few streaks of paint. Beautiful work
@@citticat2 as with most stains they are more sheer than a paint - so the odds that it will cover well are questionable 😀 you can try layering several coats to try and cover it better and thank you so much
Wow, super cute! I have a question. Is it possible to paint gel stain over primer on rough cut lumber? I'm trying to make a beam in a 130 year old house that has been painted with primer look like wood again.
@@reinlily7972 it is possible but stains being sheer and this isn’t a gel stain (gel stains are a little thicker and have more buildable coverage). So if you were to take the stain right over the primer you will see the color of the primer - I would suggest painting over the primer in a neutral tone (cream, taupe) then going in with the stain over that
Can you use SFO over fusion mineral paint ?
How do you ship those large pieces of furniture ? Do you have a scheduled pick up from USPS and how about the boxes that they go in.
@@AQUARIUMFREAK123 no they won’t take pieces that large or with that weight and if they do it would be $1000 😂 I use U ship (it’s picked up my truck drivers usually that have a route with many other stops) if I am looking for shipping quotes - it’s so expensive though so it’s hard to make those sales - I once shipped a piece to NC from CA and it cost as much as the piece
May i know the color name or color code..from HomeDepot latex paint
@@milindraval I didn’t use a Home Depot latex paint - I used a furniture paint by fusion mineral paint - the color is called Algonquin - it’s a great color
Gallons of useful rich information which is easy to understand and fun to watch. Best furniture restoration tutorials on the internet, and there is a lot of good stuff out there. You put so much work into each video that it is a wonder how you look so energized and enthusiastic. Keep it up, it is highly appreciated. Speaking of, you have another tutorial on the stain over paint technique where you use you used a standard cappuccino stain over a latte colored paint and achieved what appeared to my amateur eye, a very similar final effect. What is the main difference here, the fact that it is a gel or the fact that it is a blend of different colors ? I'm not sure whether this is the same question , but is it possible to use different colors with a standard stain and a single color with a get stain as long as the other components are the same and achieve the same faux wood look ?
@@ebsmith1000 thank you so much! U shld jsuy mix the 2 paints together and add water

I have white ash/vanilla malt wood with aqua colour stuck in the wood grain would this method work to hide the aqua colour in the grain or would you recommend doing a layer of paint first then the gel stains
@@phillrob7445 since it’s stain and therefor sheer - although buildable coverage - if your trying to cover something like that I would recommend a layer of paint in a neutral tone and then go in with your stains 😀

Hello! I have three questions for you.........First, can I ask what wax you used to seal it? I am undergoing my first project with both chalk paint and Country Chic paint. I have Brixwax original Clear wax that I bought to use over the wood portions of my hutch, but I have had mixed answers when asking if Briwax original clear can be used over chalk paint. Second, I followed someone else's instructions and diluted the paint (4 oz size) with 2 teaspoons of water. Was this necessary? 3) Can I use a foam roller brush for the second coat to ensure a good final finish? Thank you - I really really enjoyed your video!
@@andreadobrin5485 I didn’t seal this - with country chic it’s optional - I prefer a water based top coat I would not use it over the paint - it may alter the color - if you choose to use wax as your topcoat - use one specifically for painted furniture I dilute because I spray but you don’t have to unless you find the paint really thick and hard to work with - I like a water mister bottle when brushing and just apply direct if needed when brushing. You can but I would be careful with rollers - use a really good microfiber roller - staalmeester makes a great one
Great video! LOVE your videos. Question - do I need to use a special paint as the base or is regular latex paint like Benjamin moore ok? THANK YOU!!!
@@annerewey4023 I don’t like latex paint on furniture - it isn’t meant for wood surfaces and can peel - if you use Benjamin Moore use their advance line - it’s great on furniture and this process can be used with it as long as it’s not a shiny sheen
What did it look like before the primer? Was it veneer? What if it’s solid wood? The look would be the same? I just got a dresser today and I want to mentally prepare myself and have somewhat of a clue before I mess it up 😂. Thank you for reading my message when you have a chance ❤

Can this be done to stair treads? If so, do you know what the wear and tear is for the stairs and the stain? Is this stain pretty durable for foot traffic? Thank you. :)
@@tammyjones9593 it can this profit once cured (10 days) it’s super durable - you can also add a topcoat for additional protection - but anytime you are talking floors and heavy traffic - wear and tear will come easier of course - check their website to learn more about the product
Beginner here. It was nice to see that you didnt have to filter the paint nor water it down. Is that because of the sprayer you are using or because of the quality of the paint?
@@valeskaparker870 I should have filtered (I normally do) but sometimes when filming I forget. As for watering it down - that is going to depend on the product viscosity and the sprayer too - this was pretty thin and not needed
I subscribed to your channel because you are an excellent professional explaining. I feel like you’re a student. Thank you!! But I need you to make a video painting a fabric or faux leather sofa, please. Waited For You ❤
@@Mariam_Rodriguez hi and thank you! I don’t do upholstery 😀 - I tried once and it was an epic fail - crunchy and didn’t like the look - I have seen it done and it looks good but not my thing 😂
Hi! Love your videos! Was wondering, do you still recommend this sprayer? I am in the process of refinishing a table and realized with all the spindles in the chairs a paint brush isn’t going to work. I’ve been putting on a primer and it’s just a drippy mess that I can’t make look good with a brush. I was looking at this particular sprayer versus the siphon ones. Thank you so much!
@@Snoopy5007 this is a good sprayer for the price point yes and if you don’t use it daily (there are more professional sprayers for that kind of volume) otherwise it’s a good sprayer and would recommend 😀
Hi, great video. May I ask what base you used? I want to use a dark green for my island, and wondered what base you used? Secondly, did you have to thin out the paint or dilute it when you used your sprayer? I notice some people say to dilute or thin prior to using sprayer because it’s thick, Just wondered if you thinned it out. I love your piece, great job
I didn’t use a base - if you mean a primer/base. I didn’t use one on this job - not all jobs require a primer - if cleaned well and scuff sanded (prime when concerned about bleed through or adhesion) I always thin my paint and each product will vary as to how much as well as the equipment your using - I suggest getting a viscosity cup and referring to your sprayer manual for timing. This paint is not particularly thick (that will also vary depending on color - some pigments in colors will make the paint thinner or thicker). Thank you so much 😀
@@BorninaBarnBoutique thanks so much for the info 👍🌹
What tip/needle did you use and what setting was your sprayer on?
I use the standard tip - I do not typically feel the need to switch them out for water based paints. As for the setting this particular system does not have a numbered setting system - so I couldn’t tell you how it was dialed in - I switch that up depending on the product and piece I’m working on but there is no way for me to tell you a setting number on this one 😀
Love the video. Thanks for sharing! Quick question - if I wanted a darker colour would I be just leaving it without wiping? Or would I need to wipe and apply multiple coats, until I get the desired result? Thank you.
Thank you - I would definitely wipe back or you may not like the look and it will take forever to dry. I would Layer multiple coats (making sure you allow ample time in between)

Cheap fix for a cheap piece of poorly constructed furniture.
You do realize that most pieces are not made of 100% solid wood through and through. This is a Bassett brand piece (which is a good brand) - but most pieces have some wood veneer and particle board in certain areas of the furniture unfortunately
Your work is beautiful Amy. I love your tutorials 🇬🇧🤗
Does it dry down all the way or does it need to be cured ?
So most every product paint, stain and topcoat have a dry time and a cure time. This product depending on your climate dries down within 8 hours for re-coating. Cure time for this particular product is a 10 day cure time 😀
Gorgeous piece! Did I miss some of it though? You went from spraying your favorite primer to painting it then voila! The piece was finished! What paint was used (color and brand)? Did you spray it on and if yes, can a gal like me who doesn’t own a sprayer use a brush method instead of spraying? If yes on that, what brush do you recommend? And last but not least, how did you finish the top (with what product, etc). The piece itself is exquisite and you and your videos are always a pleasure to watch. Looking forward to your reply if you have a moment. Oh how I wish I lived near you if you taught classes. Your work is second to none.
Thank you! No you didn’t miss anything. This video was to showcase the repair not the paint process - so there was just a quick segment showing me applying the primer and then there is a segment showing me spray the paint. The painting part was not a focus on this video. I did spray it on (quick segment showing me with the spray gun) 😀 you can absolutely brush and I have many recs for brushes (zibra, staalmeester and cling on brushes are my favs). I also always list out what was used with links too in the show notes/description. Everything is listed there from the paint color to the stains used too. 😀 thank you so much for watching and the nice comments.
What kind of sander are you using that’s hooked up to a vacuum hose? Thank you 😊
Hi! That is my festool ETS-EC 125 orbital sander connected to my festool hepa dust extractor/vac system - love them! amzn.to/3RpHnWU
Can I do that over a painted top?
you can but its meant to be like a stain and showcase the wood grain - it is very sheer :)
Which colors did you use on the top ?
I always out all the products in the description below 😀 I used wooden barrel and natural cork
I would love to see a video of you doing the pottery barn look with the gel stains.
I used this on a cabinet. I put on three coats and it is streaky. How do I fix that? HELP!
I personally don’t care for this paint - after the video a few years ago I chose to not use again. Streaky can come from the product, the brush and how you may be applying. My rec: try a different paint 😀
Thanks for the great video. Can I apply this glaze (and the mineral spirits) to a piece that is painted with latex paint?
You are welcome - I haven’t tried that - I’m not sure how the products will work together - I would suggest trying a test area before going g all in
i don't know about wood, but i do like the bgm.
Too much work for the furniture I need to stain to look like a nice wood. However, this video was still very good - so thorough & clear.
