Extreme Furniture Makeover Using Silk Mineral Paint by Dixie Belle | All In One Paint | Dresser Flip
In today's video I'm going to be using an All In One Paint for the first time! I chose to use the Silk Mineral Paint line by Dixie Belle and used the color Saltwater! I hope this video inspires you to try something new, whether that's a new paint, or attempting to flip an ugly duckling like this one!
Have you tried Silk yet? What did you think of it? I would love to know what your experience was like in the comments!
Thanks for watching!
xoxo, Holly

Just bought my first jar of silk paint. Should be here in a few days. Cannot wait to try it. You made this seem so effortless. Really enjoyed your video.

@@ChicAntiquebyHolly The color is called Harbor. i have 5 dressers in my garage currently that are in pretty rough shape. Now just need to decide which dresser to use it on :)

Thankyou for a great demo. I'm just a newbie, about to paint my first project. Looking at the piece, I would have thought it required Boss also. How can you determine if that is or isn't necessary? Thanks in advance

Glad it was helpful! This piece was laminate, not real wood, so there was no possibility of bleed through. Instead, I primed using Slick Stick so that the paint could adhere to the shiny surface. I always use Boss on pieces made of mahogany and cherry. Other woods like maple, pine, and oak don't always bleed so I don't always use Boss for those woods, but it never hurts. I would also add, when I'm painting using a very light color, I always prime because I don't want to risk having to repaint if the wood stains that light colored paint.

Thanks so much for your reply. I'm now realising my dresser is pine veneer and very shiny. Being that veneer is only thin layers of timber, can that still bleed through? Thanks again for your assistance and great informative video

@@robynnielsen8508 Of course. I'm always happy to help. Yes, veneer can still bleed through.
Great job how much did it sell for.

Every artist, location, and piece is different so my pricing may not be very relevant. In my opinion, pricing and selling techniques are best learned through trial and error. Thanks for watching 😊🙏🏻
I have not tried the silk paint yet but it look great! Do you like the silk paint or chalk paint better?
@ChicAntiquebyHolly
3 жыл бұрын
I definitely am more used to chalk paint so initially, I’d say I prefer that. But I’m excited to try silk paint some more. I love it because it cuts down the steps by a lot! I love that I don’t have to use a stain blocker or a top coat over it. I plan to use it much more in the future! Thanks for watching!
Does the silk paint cost a lot more than the chalk paint?

You can check with your local stockist to find out their prices-I would definitely recommend purchasing from & supporting them if you can! If you are purchasing online directly from Dixie Belle, it’s only a $4 difference. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
You don’t lightly scuff sand laminate?
@ChicAntiquebyHolly

No, I don’t. I use a gripping primer instead.
A train wreck turned in to a beautiful piece!

I like your work but the background music in your videos is so distracting. The organic sounds of you working make for a much more enjoyable video. Nice job on the dresser.

I love the music, but I understand it’s not for everyone. I’m doing an asmr style video soon, so keep an eye out for that. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
