It was on sale at AliExpress, and I thought why not try with how rave the reviews were, the FOMO got me good. 2 weeks in and I still couldn't click with it. Well, thankfully I managed to sell it back at a relatively fair price

I agree. I love them. Perfect fit, plays well with any genre and it is never fatiguing. And I am treble sensitive…it just shows how each one of us hear things differently.

After you said you found the pilgrim to be too bright, I knew you wouldn’t enjoy the project m. It’s a step up in terms of brightness for sure. For me, it is bright but doesn’t get sibilant at all. So it’s kind of a unique cool iem in my collection that adds something different. It’s not an iem for someone just looking for one iem, for sure. It’s certainly not an all-rounder. Did you not notice that those tips glow in the dark? Completely pointless but cool AF!

The connectors look similar to what TFZ uses in most of their products. IIRC, it's diameter is 0.75 mm, so be careful when using standard 2-pins 0.78 mm; it might damage them (speaking from my personal, painful experience).

My old TONEKING Shockwave III has hyper hi frequency for cheaper price , just lacking subbass , the Dita project M seems have similarity to it. if interested a good cable is required .

It can be saved with eq and tip rolling. Once pushed into a neutral tune, I realized that only the dd was providing any note weight and the ba wasn't giving me any physicality in the highs. That passion for sound video was so off the mark

@@SharinganNin, how many eartips did you try on the DITA? I get an enormous quantity of bass with a pair of generic eartips, so I use the FiiO HS18 tips, which provide more than adequate bass response.

Wow. I just pulled the trigger on these about 2 hours before your review came out. Frankly yours is the first negative review out there. Keep in mind that while the other reviews are positive, they do have a caveat that these aren't for 'bass heads'. I do like that you're at least honest in your review and that you tell it like you see it.

@@Jaytiss Absolutely. I mean looking at your curve, you seem to like bass. Most of the reviewers say that if you want bass, these are not for you, yet some also say that running it thru a DAC you can lift the bass and it does fine. To be clear, I am not an IEM collector and want to buy just one and be done with it. So trying to find one that does well. Also having been married for 25yrs... my hearing is starting to go. 😱 Then look at portable DACs which is a whole different mess. :-)

@@Jaytiss Just got it... Put in some foam tips (tend to sweat too much w silicon tips. ) Haven't burned them in... but initial impressions. Tried it with a bunch of different types of music. Out of the box you are right, doesn't work well with all types of music. Definitely not for bass heads. Its not bad... just not booming. Listened to Ray Brown Trio. not bad but upright bass was a little light. (You can EQ this but honestly for most things... sounds good w/o EQ. ) Put on some Black Sabbath, War Pigs, Iron Man. Sounded ok w no EQ. Went to EQ, set it to Rock... more bass was ok... but even w EQ off, sounded good. It works for me. But probably not for everyone. Otyken sounded ok too. (Smoke, Belief) But when I tried EQ settings... bass didn't sound well. Better w/o EQ. YMMV Will continue to listen. Again, I thank you for your honest review. No snake oil here.

Yeah when you said odd vocals, that's a no-go for me. I have the FIIO FH7 from years back, great tech, fantastic bass and treble quality, but the amount of treble affects male and female vocals so much making them too sibilant ("Ss") thin and harsh sounding tbh

The treble is done very tastefully on these. It reminds me of stax headphones where it's aggressive but very enjoyable without the sharp peaks. Give it a try.

I hate shouty iem’s but have the project m and enjoy it. When people refer to Shouty iem’s they generally refer to iem’s that have a strong 3k/upper mid peak, like the variations and simgot iem’s. The project m doesn’t, but does admittedly have quite a bit of treble energy. It’s not sibilant though, for me at least.
