Dispersed Campsites are Everywhere in this Forest

This weekend I set off looking for a dispersed campsite in Minnesota's Hill River State Forest. This was my first time in this forest. I used Google Maps to find pull-offs and open field. Initially I found two spots that looked promising. When I arrived, I found 4 spots that could have worked really well. All the spots I found can be accessed with a pull type trailer or a Class A or B. I would advise going to this forest during the dry part of the year. The Mosquitoes were horrible.
I went on a short bike ride, maybe 5 miles and found a 5th campsite and walking bridge that led to nowhere. I spent 45 minuets trying to catch fish, I had a few bits but never landed anything.
Today, as I am typing this, I have to laugh at how many mosquito bites I have on my head, neck and legs. I have been home for 2 days and the camper is still full of those darn Mosquitoes. I will be bringing something to keep the bugs at bay next week. Thanks for checking out the video.

Yo Kenny, after living in a mosquito infested jungle on the Big Island of Hawaii for forty years this is my Mosquito fix. Get an all purpose hand sprayer, add 1/4" of Dawn dish soap, fill with water, adjust spray to course size droplets, hang spray bottle off right side pants pocket so it's always there for a quick draw to shoot down any type bugs, you can spray it on any surface without staining, take it to bed with you and when you hear them skitters buzzing your ears just keep your eyes closed and spray near your face, this none toxic solution will knockout 10 or 20 skitters at a time with one squirt...the soap will kill flys, no see'ums, wasps, hornets, spiders, ants, centipedes, scorpions, if it flys or crawls soap will stop it, and it will also change a vicious dogs attempt to bite you too.

That's like camping in our hay pasture... which I've done many times. Down here, shade is preferable. Yes, many parties were held in the back of that pasture. A gravel hill was great for parking around a fire. All those minnows have parents in there, somewhere. Better go get 'em!

Surprising they were out on such a cool morning, too, must be very dedicated or making up for lost feedings. Too bad you had no luck fishing, but your backup dinner looked awesome! Often people see the beauty of Minnesota and think they want to come here...then they realize the summers are full of Mosquitos the size if horseflys, woodticks that love to find warm spots on the body to attach to, summer days where the humidity dew point are so high you sweat through every layer of clothing. Then winters with -55 temperatures and not seeing above freezing for months at a time. But there's 2.5 weeks in fall where this state is beautiful.

For no gazebo, used thermocell &/or mosquito coils, and/or mosquito candles. 🍻

That said i am asking kind of an intrusive favor. do you have a video made i can see of just a tour of the truck and maybe a day in the life including hanging out time. I'm not comfortable around groups of people, however I love changing myself and stepping outside of my comfort zone. In my last career I was an instructor for various classes. The preparation days prior would always give me anxiety, thinking about leading a group of 20 to 40 people . But the sense of accomplishment after was awesome. KZread is one of the ways I am changing myself these days, making myself comfortable with being uncomfortable. Thanks for checking out the videos and following along!
