Finding Free Campsites In The Truck Camper

I'm back after surviving the black plague...lol. I'm not sure what I had, I don't go into the Doctor. I really appreciate all the kind messages and well wishes the last two weeks. It truly amazes me how this channel has brought so many people together. I'm feeling much better and ready to get back in the camper.
This week's video I head up to Minnesota's Foot Hills State Forest. I found some dispersed camping on Spider Lake. GPS 46.676834, -94.662364.
This forest is known for being a recreation playground for off road enthuses. The Foot Hills is thousands of acres, spread out on many unconnected parcels. I met some cool people while walking the trails. All the ORV operators were very considerate and gave me plenty of room. Unfortunately, some people visiting the Foot Hills take advantage of this beautiful land and leave trash all over the place. If you are looking for an area to 4x4 with your ORV or Jeep, check out this forest. Just make sure to clean up and leave no trace.
Thanks for checking out the video, I'll see you down the road.... or next Tuesday, whichever comes first!

We're also glad to hear you are feeling much better, never a good thing when you're sick. We were just talking yesterday about not seeing an update from you, we watch your videos religiously, me and you 12 year old boy. We love the beautiful scenery, all the facts and info that you share. These videos of yours are a pretty positive thing for us, in a world that seems to be getting darker and more unfriendly each day. Unknowingly you've become a part of our little family Kenny, you keep the videos coming when you're able to. Thank you from William and Cole, Parke County Indiana and blessings to you and yours.

Thats awesome! I also enjoy watching many different channels. One thing I like about smaller channels is the people are easier to relate with. Often times when a channel gets 500k views per video the person loses their relatability. The lifestyle starts looking Hollywood. Not in all cases...but some.

Being a little sick ain't no excuse! I had pneumonia on the Gunnison River a couple of summers back. Stayed there for a week, and the only time I left the camper was to go to the doctor. The pollen was so bad, the doctor forbade me to be wandering around outside breathing it in. The campsite was great, the view was wonderful, and the TV was the same thing as back home in Houston. Sometimes it happens...

Well from what you were saying & seeing from the first campground No Wonder there was so many access closed signs at the other one. So many idjits ruining such precious areas no wonder so many of our Public Lands are being closed. ps I find wadding up some bread gets some good catches from docks. People love feeding bread to birds & fish love what the birds miss. Have you thought of carrying a small tarp on the bike to set up at a site instead of rushing & hoping nobody else snags it? Glad you're feeling better. Well all the cuts from editing comes in handy for those weeks you aren't able to get out. Thanks for taking us along.

I enjoy your videos. Spider lake is the closest lake to my house. I have fished it often. Caught walleye, northern, and crappie. Never tried for bass but it looks like you had one on. The campsite you stayed at is one of two right on the water. Surprised you found it open on Saturday in July. The other one is where you commented on a nice car. The place where several trailers were parked is a parking lot for a beautiful sand beach swimming area. There is a vault toilet there too. If you had taken the fork that goes north it comes out on hwy 2. There are several campsites along that road. This used to be a completely unsupervised area. Teenagers with 4 wheelers would camp here and ride all over the area, not just the trails. Posted signs are to keep that from happening. There are miles of trails and forest roads that you can ride on. It does make for a noisy place to camp. I think you are correct about the folks camped at Cut and Deep lakes.I've run into this at many free campsites. You know they have been there too long when the grass under the tent is dead. You need to find a way to bring a boat with you and do more fishing.

I'm right there with you! It's a deep conversation that could be shared around a campfire while looking at the stars. It's always good to remember that life, our world, its so much bigger then we are able to understand. My dad and I would have conversation about life, spirits, aliens, and everything in-between. As he passed away a few year ago I reminded him of our conversations. I told him he was going to find some answers on his next journey. I asked him to share some secrets with me one day. I'm still waiting for that conversation, but I know he's watching. So I guess I do believe...or at least I'm hopping for something bigger then us.

Not sure what to think of them of course but certainly more things happening than we can always see ans or hear. Your illness event reminds me of getting bit by mosquitoes in South Duhkota. Infected mosquitoes, that I opened the patio door and instantly closed - and 10 got in. They looked like the spaceship in 2001 Space Odyssey - huge bloated head and skinny body. They would literally fly into and hit you (whaddaf ?!) - "I must bite you, I must bite you." Well for ~2 weeks the same tetanus-like muscle aches from toe muscles to scalp, couldn't move without pain to fingers, hands, arms, feet, legs, body, neck, ears, eyes, .... Now I can hear mosquitoes nearly 10 feet away from me (even in a deep sleep quickly awake and slapping anything that makes a twitch on my body - even a hair movement - awake and slapping ! Oh - and its only female mosquitoes, gnats, no-see-ums that bite - males only fly around for sex. Same for female ants, female honey bees, ...probably same female biting horse flies.
