With a simple whisper of his voice and a wave of his staff, Jafar can mold a simple mind to do his will. By looking into the red eyes of the snake on his staff, an individual loses all sense of self control. But uhh Jafar where did you get that thing? We know you didn’t really have any magical powers before you started making your wishes with Genie so… what gives? Well if we search across the globe and adventure outside of Agrabah I believe I know where this staff comes from.
I post every Tuesday and Thursday, so check back then for more Disney, Pixar, Harry Potter, Star Wars and movie videos! If you have any questions about the Disney universe that you would want answered in a video, please ask away in the comment section!

Considering the lengths he was willing to go to gain control, along with his backstory, it's likely he stole the staff. Then again, he is rather cunning and manipulative, so he could've also befriended and/or tricked La into giving Jafar his staff. This is only my opinion, of course, and should be taken with a grain of salt.

"Just where did you say you were from?" "Much farther than you traveled I'm sure." "Try me." I think this dialogue between Jafar and Prince Ali (Aladdin) as the Sultan is flying on the carpet could give a good idea that Jafar traveled to a far place to get the staff.

Iago in the animated series does mention, a few times, that Jafar often searched for any sort of magical advantage-that's how he found out about the Genie's Lamb, according to Iago-so perhaps that staff is one such magical item he's come across.

Realistically speaking, this is probably a coincidence, but it is a cool idea that I’m very willing to accept; both because Jafar himself implied he’s traveled far and wide in his life when first talking to “Prince Ali” (“Where did you say you were from?” “Um… much farther than you’ve traveled, I’m sure.” “Try me.”), and because Jafar’s role in the story is actually a mashup of two different antagonists from the original tale: the royal vizier who finds it in his best personal interests to not let Aladdin marry the princess, and a dark magician seeking the lamp who hails from - get this - _Africa._ Now do a video about Iago.

That is interesting that Jafar and Queen La share magical powers with their staffs. Also according to Jafar being obsessed with treasure, the only thing he wants from The Cave of Wonders is the lamp.

One mystery I've been wondering about Aladdin lately is "What is Razul's backstory?" Out of all the guards he seemed to have something about him. Though it was clear he loved to see that justice was served and was loyal to the Sultan I couldn't help but wonder if he had a past that made him who he was as a character.

The idea of the animal staffs being a kind of Magic-maximizer and channeler reminds me of another Disney property "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" where magic users need specially made rings to cast spells effectively. Late in the film the apprentice hypothesizes that when the villain collects these rings for his own use, he is not making himself more powerful but actually a better conductor of magical power.

This theory is pretty awesome! I just love your channel, your theories and of course yourself =D If you have the time for these questions: who made the Cave Of Wonders and who does it originally belong to with all the treasures, including Genie's lamp? Also, it is forbidden to touch the treasure, and if you do, it disappears. Is the treasure cursed or it doesn't exist at all aside from the lamp? Plus, Aladdin is known by that cave as "diamond in the rough". Does it know of Aladdin himself for a reason and why only him is allowed to enter the cave? Jafar only knew of Aladdin's existence by the ring that the Sultan wears from his family. Are they connected by some reason?

As far as I remember the Cave doesn't exactly say that there's just one "diamond in the rough", as this metaphor could refer to something which is sometimes called a natural aristocracy. In other words the aristocratic idea is all about the people of virtue, who are worthy to possess high status in society. And there is born aristocracy - so the people who actually are born in a high class (they are not always worthy(in other words: fulfill their aristocratic duties) but in general is easier to find someone worthy among them, especially that they have better change for actual training to fulfill the duties of higher class) - and natural aristocracy, so simple people who are not born into aristocratic class but are WORTH being part of it. And I dare to say that Aladin fit in that description. the Cave of Wonders said about "diamond in the rough" because such is harder to find that already polished one (so a born aristocrat)... though it's also possible that it was actually just about being worthy (so born aristocrat who is worthy would actually work too... but with his traitorous nature Jaffar of course wasn't such person). All the treasures were IMO an illusion, and an additional test of worthiness (testing if the person would have enough free will to not give in to the temptation of riches - or in a more metaphorical sense to abuse one's aristocratic privileges). So what I think Jafar discover by its device was the nearest "diamond in the rough" which happen to be Aladin.

I always thought that Ursula was trying to "help" her niece (Ariel). She didn't want her to be so separated from mankind, seeing that the Atlanteans (merfolk) and Ursula's kind were all of different heritage (Deity, water nymp, possibly gorgon, human) and wanted Ariel, who out of Triton's five daughters weren't tainted by their fathers ignorance, bigotry and fears. And regardless if she did kiss a human or find true love, that she would actually still be able to return back to the oceans. But that's just my theory.

I wonder how this ties in to the more recent video, "Vor: the supposed first Disney villain" It seems the queen's staff is more powerful yet, in the mentioned video, Jafar's staff is one of the wicked nine.

  • @Misakigi
    @Misakigi5 жыл бұрын

It's not the staff likely, but the red gemstone. The staff is the medium which directs the power of the gem. Historically, mediums and fortune tellers use gems (etc) to perform their tricks (whether it actually worked or just added to the sense of mysticism). It is possible that Queen La's staff, when broken, shattered the gem. Then someone else (or maybe even Jafar), got hold of two of the biggest shards leftover and crafted the serpant staff. Now, I hadn't heard of Queen La or the extra Tarzan story, so it's possible that Queen La's staff was completely destroyed. But the point remains that it originated from Opar. If Jafar did find the legendary city, there's nothing keeping him from accessing/practicing dark magic in that place, which may then have 1) given him access to magic to create his own staff or 2) awakened another magical staff (broke it's seal/curse/however you want to say it)

That was extremely thorough. To add to your synopsis by comparison, there is a section of the original Aladdin tale that is set in "Far away Africa". The Magician (with no name in the original story), who got Aladdin the lamp through trickery backfiring, discovers Aladdin did not die in the cave as he thought. He tries many tricks to get Aladdin killed, by enraging the Genie and spreading lies. he eventually gets the lamp and kidnaps the princess and Aladdin's castle to Far away Africa (from China, the original setting). The magician was very at home in Africa, which suggests he had been there before. Something to think about and tie back to your theory. I have two proposals, and I'l subscribe if they come out in videos. My favorite movie is Sleeping Beauty, and I will prompt these ideas and see what you think. 1) Maleficent's staff origin. Tougher than Jafar's, however I'm willing you could have a go at it. Since she is a fairy, like the others, one would think she'd use a wand. However she has her staff, which probably grants her a lot more power than the wands of the good fairies, given their conversation shortly after the curse. Is it a gift of the Devil? Is it from a dragon hoard she had long ago? (My leading theory). 2) Aurora's dream: After Maleficent's curse, Merryweather places a spell on Aurora that she will sleep rather than die, and awaken at true love's kiss. The spell has a side effect, in that Aurora dreams of her true love whenever she sleeps. We know this because of what Maleficent tells Prince Phillip in the Dungeon, and that she has had several dreams of a prince throughout her life, as she tells the animals in the forest. Could the clash of good and evil magic on Aurora have given her dreams of her future love, or even caused the pathway to have her meet Philip right before the spell enacted? Hope these ideas are worth your time. Awesome channel!

I had an idea for a future video. In the Disney movie Bedknobs and Broomsticks, the main character who is studying witchcraft in order to help the British war effort in WW2 discovers a spell which brings inanimate objects to life aka Substitutiary Locomotion. When she first tried it on a pair of shoes it seemed to work but it somehow went crazy and brought other articles of clothing to life. Though later she uses it to bring a whole museum of medieval armor to life in order to fight some nazis who invaded and the spell works perfectly. What would be your thoughts on how the spell worked here but not in the beginning?

Can yo do a video on the show sofia the first about the wicked 9 but on one in pacticular. If you don't know what the wicked nine are they are items that belonged to the greatest villians of all time from disney, and the evil sorceress Vor who needs their powers to get her full power back the wicked nine are as followed: Jafar's Snake Staff Maleficent's Staff (the Spinning Wheel's spindle) Ursula's Necklace Mor'du’s Claw The Sword of Shan Yu (the Falcon’s Eye) Dr. Facilier’s Hat Lady Tremaine’s Key Mother Gothel’s Magical Golden Flower The Evil Queen’s Crown and Heart Box. But the one i want you to talk about is the flower from rapunzel, Siofia the first is supposed to be cannon to the disney princess universe but if thats the case then why is the flower from rapunzel one of the wicked nine if it was show in Tangled the series locked up in the valuts of conanoa? It doesn't make sense espicaly when the wicked nine is supposed to be objects from the disney villians and the flower didn't belong to Mother gothel. Since the flower is rapunzel now. But anyways i was hopeing if you could cover this topic of how the flower from rapunzel could be one of the wicked nine.

I'm gonna try to find the episode/video from the Aladdin tv series. But of memory serves correct, Aladdin and the crew were on het another mission but this time to stop that Egyptian Cat Deity (I want to say her name was Mirage or Miragah, but I'm probably wrong). They unlisted the help of the weird, magical guy that is "blind" with the rags tied around his head covering his "eyes" (at either the end of the episode or the season, you find out that he's not blind, and he's actually the last Magical Cyclops, whose brother was killed). They're in the ancient temple and there's statutes or enormous Cyclops but the center one guarding the door, has a red ruby eye instead of just a full stone eye. Genie tells the crew that he's getting bad vibes from that stone and it seems frightfully familiar. The blind one reassures genie that the stone posses no threat, seeing as their is no longer any "mortal" or remaining Cyclops that can either wield or abuse it's power. Then he tells a quick story of how the stone is actually slightly fractured weakening it's original powers: "Many moons ago, a young man in search of both power and dominion, stumbled across this temple. Greed filled his heart, and thus he attempted to steal the jewel, the guardian of the temple fought him, losing his life in the processes. The young man, escaped with his, however he was able to only leave with a shard of the jewel and the knowledge of the deed he committed in order to obtain it" Again, this is just going off of memory (it was like almost 18yrs ago, if I'm right), but I'm gonna try to find that video. I loved that show so much, I can remember almost all the episodes, villains and different lore. Omg! I loved the villain Mosenwrath! Just like the Egyptian Cat Deity, that was their main antagonist, her Lord & master and higher ranking god...was Cashmere Cat (from Alice & Wonderland, but in the series was called "Lord Chaos") linking the Disney universe, with a being that transcends time and space.

i like to think some one used the Hand of Midas from Aladdin and he prince of thieves in the jungles of India. Turning Kaa in to a gold staff. As a staff Kaa still retained with the power of minds control . where years latter it was found by jufar. Latter when jafar gets turned into a sorcerer the geni needed some thing to use to channel jafar's powers in to thus the staff gets more powers.

If Jafar could've truly gotten his Snake Staff from the jungles of Africa in Opar, my bet is that he would've stolen it. I rather think it surprising to think that someone like Queen La(Legend of Tarzan) would've ever possibly willingly just let someone like Jafar walk into Opar and give him a powerful Snake Staff for nothing--especially when his Snake Staff's power would perhaps rival her own Leopard Magic Staff she carries with her. If Jafar's Snake Staff did come from Opar truly, I again would've figured Jafar would've more likely stolen it as opposed to it just being willingly given to him.
