I've seen Beaumont at the 2017 D23! They were doing a retrospective (hosted by Leonard Maltin) on the Disney Legends award, which was celebrating its 30th anniversary then. Beaumont was up there on the stage, along with Karen Dotrice (Jane in "Mary Poppins"), Bill Farmer (the current voice of Goofy since 1987) and one of the newest honorees that year, Mark Hamill. And those were just the actors!

Interestingly, "The Black Cauldron" wasn't the only thing John Byner did for Disney. He also appeared on one episode of the short-lived '70s Disney show, "The Mouse Factory", which apparently was Disney's answer to "Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In".

I may be a cartoonist at heart, but I really love voice acting!! Seeing this is a real treat for the eyes.😄

I love the voice actors behind the mic. I was in my late teens in the 2008/09 when I discovered that there were voice actors behind the mic.

Funny that they mention that Sterling Halloway has voiced more characters for Disney (back then) then anyone else, 'cause nowadays that title goes to his replacement Jim Cummings. Guess it remains in the Pooh family.

Jim Cummings replaced Sterling Holloway as Kara the snake in the jungle book 2. Cheshire Cat in the kingdom heart series and most of all Winnie the Pooh

I loved the wonderful footage of Phil Harris, Paul Winchell, Hal Smith, and Alan Young just to name four.

It’s great to see both Kathryn Beaumont and Paul Winchell in this. I’ve been a fan of their work for years, especially Winchell. He was one of the first voice actors along with Jim Cummings that I ever took notice of.

1:25 Back in November 13th, 2019, Happy 80th Birthday to Will Ryan who voiced six cartoon characters in the Sullivan Bluth Studios from a Don Bluth productions, especially Petrie and in which was another one who voiced Harold the Seahorse in The Little Mermaid from Walt Disney Feature Animation.

I wish Pokemon gave their voice actors this much credit and acknowledgement.

14:15 "Snow White was the only role Adriana Caselotti ever played", *ahem* you mean, 'only _major_ role'? She had another voice role but for one character not necesarily seen: in "The Wizard of Oz" when Tin Man sings the "If I Only Had a Heart" song to Dorothy and Scarecrow, there's a brief moment in that where he alludes to Romeo and Juliet with Caselotti in the Juliet role. She also had a uncredited role in "It's a Wonderful Life".

The Walt Disney studios always loved bringing back Voices that were unforgettable that’s why they used Phil Harris again for “Robin Hood” as little John, Paul winchell as boomer in “Fox and the Hound” and Sterling Holloway who narrated many Disney rarities

I wish that all of these amazing voice actors were still alive.

This was a few years before the film’s first home media release. This goes to show that the whole thing about it being done during the 1999 VHS was a misconception. It’s been there since the beginning. Removed from the 1992 VHS, Returned in the 1999 VHS since they used a new master and forgot to remove the image, and then remembered in all future releases going forward.

@@SamsDisneyDiary I think I know of a few KZreadrs who claim to have the "Clarence Nash" episode when Disney Channel reran "The Disney Family Album" through the network's (sorely missed, IMO) Vault Disney block. They said it was rumored that Disney refused to air it when every other episode was shown on Vault Disney, presumably due to the episode featuring clips from the Donald Duck cartoon "Der Fuehrer's Face" (one of the few times the war cartoon was ever shown on TV). kzread.info/dash/bejne/dpWJk4-qcpa3aco.html

I'm sure someone already caught this, but at 12:13 Ward Kimball mis-reads the photo cation and credits Lionel Atwill as the voice of Doc, when in fact it was radio comedian Roy Atwell, famous for his mixed-up wording when speaking (known as "spoonerisms"). LR

And my favorite if these voice actors are Sterling Holloway Dickie Jones Phil Harris And Kathryn Beaumont

Walt Disney (Mickey Mouse), Fleischer's Jack Mercer (Popeye), WB's Mel Blanc (man of a million voices), along with Mae Questel and June Foray - all great pioneers of voice acting in the early years of sound-on-film.

Well now we know where Andy Serkis got his inspiration for the voice of gollum. You can definitely hear gurgi from black cauldron when voicing gollum. Also, I wish they would have kept Kathryn Beaumont for future roles. Even as an older woman she has such a lovely speaking voice.

I loved these shorts as a kid in the 80’s

I remember some of these people and the movies along with tv shows.

And to think Wayne Allwine did the voice up until the early 2000s, thats a lot of dedication.

Actually, he was active with voice acting right up until his death.

While I am sad my grandfather (Dallas McKennon) was not part of this, it was a total joy to see these LEGENDS do their voices.

Eva Gabor you were the best of playing duchess in the aristocats and miss bianca in the rescuers I hope you remember doing these roles right now in heaven Rip Eva Gabor 😥❤️⚰️🪦

Paul Winchell was the best voice actor for disney and Hanna barbera

My all-time greatest memorable from this channel is all of Disney cartoons that mentioned at the video and also the Asian made series & DC Asia Originals that aired on the channel. From childhood until now I still love their cartoon & characters as my all-time fave ever, even I enjoyed to watching the channel (Asia ver.) with dual language until its finale on September last year.

The scene where Sterling Holloway talks about Kaa was also featured in the 1997 Jungle Book VHS.

Sadly, Wayne Alwine died in 2009 as well as Russi Taylor who also died this year.

I love Hal Smith (Otis on Andy Griffith) but my favorite has to be Sterling Holloway.

Gurgi sounds familiar to Gollum from LOTR.

Mine too. Such a talented and sweet man that we lost way too soon.

This was done long before the days of video and being able to pause the movie. It still contains that one infamous frame @21:17 in The Rescuers where you see a topless woman in a window.

The man who is narrating the whole video sounds an awful lot like Adam West and it's throwing me off XD

Listening to Kathryn Beaumont talking about Alice in Wonderland, it almost sounds like she was getting rid of her British accent. You can still hear it, but it sounds like it’s fading.

These voice actors had a lot more talent than these crappy voice actors today

The woman who voiced Snow White looks like a real life version of her. She would of been perfect for a live action of the film.

I love how Disney used to put so much care and thought into a character's voices. It drives me insane when I hear a cartoon character sounding like a normal everyday person.

I kind of wonder why they didn't do an episode on the directors. Wilfred Jackson, Clyde Geronimi, Jack Kinney, and David Hand (to name a few) were still alive at the time. It would have been cool to place an actual voice with the names/faces.

Does anyone know how I can impersonate Gurgi's (from "The Black Cauldron" (1984)) voice? I've been struggling for months to get Gurgi's voice right. It sounds so much like Gollum/Smeagol's voice in Peter Jackson's "The Hobbit" Tetralogy.
