Disney Debate Critical Drinker On Piers Morgan & Get Nuked

Ойын-сауық

In a shocking turn of events The Critical Drinker joined a news panel debate on Piers Morgan's show where he along with Nerdrotic debated a Disney representative on why Disney is failing as a company and the Critical Drinker made so many bulletproof arguments against the recent Disney movies that it is only right I react to this video as it really sums up every way Disney has failed as a studio, a business and as filmmakers, from the MCU to Star Wars, all of their franchises have been absolutely nuked.
**Disclaimer I wasn't sure if the man they debated works for Disney or just supports Disney, due to the title of the video I react to it seemed like he worked for Disney however I am not sure personally.

I wouldn't go that far. But I do have to pre watch Disney films before showing them to my kids. It's not just "woke" or whatever. They also encourage awful mindsets. There's believing in yourself (generally good) and then there's being born perfect and smart and strong, with no effort or failing or mistakes, and having to force the world to acknowledge that you're already totally developed and don't need no man/parents/teachers/other perspectives. I dont like this messaging. I dont like Disney telling my daughter that she doesn't need to work on herself, and I dont like Disney telling my son that he's a clown, and he may not tell girls when they are wrong because = mansplaining = bad.

Time and holding the line against cancel culture has allowed these two, to bring the consumer perspective to the mainstream. Activists have been working to sever the connection between industry and consumer. This is a welcome first step, but it needs to be maintained and grown so that reason and logic... Not to mention honest opinions of consumers rule what drives industry again.

Because “hate pays more than love”… Jessie here on the other hand was nothing but constructive critical of both form and substance, of art, cinematography, storytelling etc…. 😢 Yet the legend is Drinker because he enrages the “modern audiences”

Well, the same people pushing for "diversity" are the same people that harp on about "racism," constantly. They say it's bad to treat someone a specific way or give them certain things because of their race, except whites of course, but will push for people of specific skin colors to be in certain things and be given certain things simply because of that skin color. Once you realize that these people's ideology is nothing more than a hilarious set of contradictions, then it makes it much easier to deal with them. They are not good people, 9 times out of ten.

Disney is trying to sell New Coke and is unwilling to go back to the original recipe. Imagine the Coca-Cola company in the 80's trying to shame their customers into buying a product they don't like instead of going back to what was popular? So much this. Back then, companies handled a failure such as new Coca-Cola by addressing the issue quickly and decisively. I was once a salesman at a department store and the company promoted this thing above all else......Customer Service......even to the point that the store would take back merch that had been used thoroughly for years....and refund the money. It wasn't something that happened often, but it created a fiercely loyal base of shoppers and great word of mouth.

Jesse Grant often simplifies the issues. He says: "Diversity doesn´t make a film bad or good it´s the quality of the story that matters." Yes but if an actor is chosen merely because she is a woman or black then the quality of the acting probably isn´t as good as it could have been. And it´s the same for the writers, the directors, and so on. So when diversity is your main goal and you have a good story the result is probably shitty.

This analysis is inadvertently touching on Critical Drinker's biggest problem: he refuses to attribute the failure of modern media directly to leftism. His implication is always that there's a correct way to propagandize the audience; if leftist activists were only more clever, more subtle, and more capable, then he would take no issue with their messaging. In reality, it is the leftist worldview itself that is directly at odds with quality storytelling. Feminism has given us the girl boss characters who shatter our suspension of disbelief and flatten our character arcs. Critical Theory brought us the anti-Western values of moral relativism, which has manifested as widespread subversion in media. Racial identity politics have injected tokenism and strife everywhere you look. These KZread critics continue to characterize the decline of entertainment media as predictable product of incompetence, but that's simply not the case. Leftist ideology is fundamentally incompatible with quality narrative design. The sooner people realize this, the sooner we can go about fixing it.

Here is the flaw with a lot of this thinking... No, ideology is not the ONLY aspect involved in story-telling, but it is a very important one. It would not matter from an audience's POV if the ideology were horrendously offensive and unacceptable if the story were "otherwise" well crafted: no one who objects to the ideology would watch it to be entertained. It's like saying, "Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how did you like the play?" Ideology matters. You can't stick lipstick on a pig and fool the audience into believing that the pig is a super-model. The problem with modern storytelling since, say, 2019-ish is, yes, the fact that the stories themselves aren't engaging. The characters are poorly crafted, their actions and consequences don't always seem to harmonize, the dialogue tends to be unengaging, and so on. But even if they were Shakespearean-level quality, if wouldn't overshadow the clear "woke" ideology that modern movie-makers are still trying to foist on the audience.

At this point I AM judging a movie when the trailers, interviews and reveals focus on diversity and inclusion. I didn't for the first twenty odd stinkers, but even an old dog can learn a few new tricks if he's been led by the nose long enough. Pointing out that diverse movies were box office successes says nothing because they weren't necessarily successful BECAUSE of diversity (nor despite of it, in all fairness). As in all products, its a mix of features that make a great movie and for too long Hollywood thought they could get away with substituting almost all of the award winning ingredients with more diversity and coast on by. I'm sick and tired of it so if a movie is advertising in this way I'm no longer willing to fork over money for a movie ticket in the vain hope that this time will be different. I'll wait for news that they mended their ways. Maybe then I can go to the cinema again and be confident I won't feel disappointed in myself for supporting the business.

If the people at Disney are so righteous, why did they lock away Song of the South? Its black folklore and Walt made that movie specifically for that black actor who played Uncle Remus, James Franklin Baskett, which made him the first black actor in a leading role. The fact that they act like its racist shows how bigoted they actually are, and are completely un-self-aware.

The way the Disney representative just shakes his head and smirks the whole time the others are talking points out what the real problem is. The people inside the bubble don't want to debate. They think they're better than everyone else and can just deflect any criticisms. That works on MSNBC when your audience is also in the echo chamber and don't want to hear contradictory opinions. But it just comes off as condescending and elitist everywhere else. And these people are running Disney. So even if some people in Disney like say the CEO or some shareholders are willing to concede that things are going in the wrong direction, these people swoop in and try to get them cancelled. I mean, the guy literally has a book behind him praising cancel culture. And you know he has it there so that the Disney producers and executives he's on a zoom call with will see it and get intimidated. That's the point we're at now. The woke consultants are running Hollywood.

It all starts with the woke agenda. Fan fatigue is just a symptom of the real problem. Lucasfilm and Marvel Studios should be powerhouses in the entertainment industry. On par with MGM, Dreamworks, etc. Saying that the space is over populated is denying the existence of the fan base of the comics themselves. Every character, every spin off, every franchise has established characters and tells established stories. For the most part. Does this mean that the comics industry is over saturated too? If so, where's the fan fatigue there? I would personally say no. The problem in the comics industry, just like Hollywood, is the woke agenda. Something that I believe is being well mitigated by the rise of independent and crowd funded self publishing as well as the fan backlash against these insufferable wokeists.

Reshoots are common now at disney and bringing back actors to do reshoots cost a lot. And US films have way to many people behind the scenes doing nothing but standing there thinking they are important/needed. Assistant of this and that. The assistant of the assistant of the assistant etc. And CGI is in so high demand that prices go up and yet quality is going down due overworked CGI companies and talent that moves out of the industry or gets axed for some DEI Bs. Yes Esg/Dei has entered the chat at CGi companies aswell. And then everybody is suprised the CGI quality is going down when boxticking is becoming normalised.

    1) One should ask professional victims if they believe to be hated by the majority of people (they will say Yes) then ask them why are they making characters similar to them and still think they're gonna be successful, if they're that hated. 2) that 'activist' implied that Black Panther was successful because it had black people in it. Is he suggesting a race component in every other successful film?...'cause that argument is in favor of white people, by FAR. In quality and number of films that were successful! By his logic white people have won 1000 : 1 !!! He's so focused on being r4cist against whites that he doesn't even see he's horribly r4cist to blacks!!

Super hero fatigue is an excuse for bringing modern politics to a BILLION dollar franchise. They knocked out their heavy hitters, which is fine...if you replace them with stories and a new developing cannon that nods to the comic book nerds but creates a great succession of Marvel adventures. Nope, Disney made a stand on their movie themes and they're not learning the lessons of other major franchises that owned their mistakes and corrected course.
