    Wayne did the best explanations of things from over a dozen videos I've looked at. Thanks Wayne. I've been putting off checking this out. It was brand new when we bought our condo and the sellers had already moved out but it was never used. Brand new appliances and the water line was too short so it never even got hooked up. Hasn't been drying completely since day one so now I have some really simple and basic things to check before having to call a pro, if I even have to. Thanks again.

    You should make the people in chat who can not do anything without a model number aware of this excellent video. I am glad I found it. Our problem may be the hot water since we had the hot water heater replaced and sometime after that my wife began complaining about dishes not drying. Thank you.

    Great video for a starting point. I wish it went further in investigating the wet dishes issue, though. In my case, the steam is not being released from the inside of the dishwasher during the heating/drying cycle - so something's not opening to let it out.

    Check the control board before pulling the dishwasher. You can see if it is burnt up before pulling dishwasher out and replacing heating element, just to find out it was the control board all along.

    In changing the heating element you do not have to pull the dishwasher completely out and turn it over. You can simply pull the dishwasher out from under the cabinet part of the way and lay down in the floor and reach up under it easily to undo the Locking nuts holding a heating element in there is no reason to fully remove the dishwasher and turn it on its side.

  • @searspartsdirect

    @searspartsdirect

    You're right. You can use that process to change the heating element in some dishwasher models. In this video, we show pulling the dishwasher out and laying it on its side to check the heating element using a multimeter. Here's a link for our video that shows how to replace the heating element in a dishwasher: www.searspartsdirect.com/repair-guide/Dishwasher/how-to-replace-a-dishwasher-heating-element.html . In that repair video, we also show how to pull the dishwasher completely out and lay it on its side so DIY viewers can see how to get the easiest access to the heating element nuts. Because the heating element nuts help hold the heating element water seals in place and prevent water leaks, it's important for DIY'ers to properly install those heating element nuts. Advanced DIY'ers may be able to remove and reinstall the heating element nuts without pulling the dishwasher out and laying it on its side.
