This might be the most useful, concise leaking dishwasher diagnostic video ever made. I have watched dozens of these videos tonight because I have water pouring out from the bottom of the door of my Kenmore. This video is exactly how a quality educational video should be created.

Way to go Wayne...by far the best dishwasher leak video on KZread. By going over all the potential root causes, I was able to zero in on several minor problems that in total fixed the door leak. The wave action was created by loose screws on the pump outlet, a loose pump outlet tube to the upper arm, and partially plugged wash arms for the upper and lower racks. Never would have found these without your help...Thanks.

This is the video to watch first, then watch a few others, especially if you can find one for your unit, though these systems are fairly universal. This video shows a systematic search, excellent delivery by the present or, with good logic and cautions. There are a few problems he doesn’t touch on, e.g., the water level float, but these are probably the main ones. Great video!

This, hands down, THE first video to watch if you have a dishwasher that is leaking. I was all set to buy top and bottom gaskets for my leaking dishwasher assuming that eight years in, I was due even though for the vast majority of that time it was merely a drying rack. Watching this video made me realize that I'd just had a wonky load and the water had gone up and over the door (mentioned perhaps 40 seconds in). My gaskets had all felt fine and I didn't have a small leak, I had quarts of water gushing out. I unloaded the dishwasher. Ran a small load through and Voila!, no leaks. Thank you, Wayne and Sears PartsDirect for mentioning something no other dishwasher video repair video (of a half dozen or so) had done.

Thank you for this video. I followed your instructions. I was able to figure out that it was the diverter motor, and then I hired a professional Sear repair service. When I told them that I figured it out using your video, he was like, "Yep". We will replace the sump (I think that is what it is called), also, because it has issues too with a little seal in it. He didn't even do any tests or anything himself, lol. Anyway, he ordered the parts, and a week later another guy came to finish the repair so I got that done. But, my wife was waiting on me to meet her somewhere so I said I will replace the kick panels. Later, I could not remember in what order and how exactly I removed them, and your video does not clearly show it. One or maybe two months later, lol, I found another video that helped me figure it out for sure, and "Wallah!" The job is complete and God bless my wife for her patience since I had the kick and toe panel stashed across from the dishwasher and just under the stove panel for I think almost two months! Meanwhile, I was giving my mom and also my brother help with some of their home improvement projects, and my dishwasher toe panels kept beckoning for attention, lol! Here is the link to the video that helped me with the toe and kick panel re-install. kzread.info/dash/bejne/f2SfvMujf7epc7w.html

Have water coming from under the dishwasher onto the floor. I tightened all the screws mentioned, and will see what happens, as I have a load going again. The thing to watch now is if it's the outflow hose in some way? Seems to be fine under the sink area (no dampness) but just from under the dishwasher itself.

February 2021 our dishwasher first began leaking at the after 89 minutes, and now will leak after 22 minutes. We have had Sears repair out 7 times and parts replaced 3 or 4 times, and it still leaks. We thought after last week when the same repairman was working on it again told me he had done everything he knew to do and would call his manager/supervisor to possibly replace the dishwasher. In a few days, I had a text from Sears that they ordered 4 more parts and scheduled an appointment for May 7, 2021 to install the parts. I was so frustrated, and I remember he said that there is possibly too much water released into the dishwasher. I tried it tonight, and now it leaks less, but there was so little water allowed into the dishwasher, it didn’t even wet all of the dish soap pod. Also, now the Drain cycle won’t turn off, so, I have to leave the door open a little but the readout still says over and over it is on the Drain cycle. My husband wants to buy a new dishwasher tomorrow, and cancel the Sears warranty because 4 months is ridiculous to go through this.

I have a wave action leak. It leaks on the left side then the right side, right below the corners of the door. This happens about 20 minutes after starting the dishwasher. I think it relates to low pressure during the PROWASH cycle on my Kitchenaid dishwasher. I can hear the slow spinning of the spray arm during the leaking portion of the cycle. I think I have a leaking spray arm.

    1. Mine leaks behind the right side wire connection box. The mushroom float is above the leak. Is there some way to check that for a part to be replaced? 2. Also there is a very small leak coming from the inlet valve above the hose connection that only leaks while the valve is open, supplying water. 3. The door seal looks bad and needs to be replaced. whirlpool Model WDT710PAYM4

Unplug the dishwasher and shut off the water supply. Using the installation manual for guidance, pull the dishwasher out of the cabinet. Check the drain hose connection to the drain pump and fix that connection if it's loose. Pour water into the end pf the drain hose that connects to the garbage disposal to see if the drain hose leaks. Replace the drain hose if it leaks. The drain hose typically has a flapper check valve that prevents drain water from backflowing all the way to the drain pump. If the drain hose doesn't leak then you may need to replace the drain pump seal, drain pump or sump.

Here's a repair guide/video that shows how to access the float switch inside that device: www.searspartsdirect.com/diy/repair-guide/how-to-replace-a-dishwasher-overfill-float-switch . If water is leaking through the opening for the float stem that activates that switch, then the float switch may not be working if the dishwasher overfills. If the dishwasher doesn't overfill with water, then a wave action inside the dishwasher tub may be causing water to slosh over the top of the standpipe for that float switch stem. Check the bottom spray arm for damage is you suspect that a wave action is causing the leak. We hope this information helps. If you need further assistance, let us know.
