I accidentally overwrited my 2000+ hour main file on Disgaea 2 once. I just said "okay" and surpassed my previous progress in 300 hours, then got up to 1-shotting Uber-Prinney-Bahl by 400 hours.

I first played the PS2 original, thanks to my cousin's friend having the game. I credit the game with getting me into the SRPG genre as a whole, and helping me out of a serious slump I had been in.

The sad part about Adells voice actor (Shiloh Strong) is that he ONLY voiced 3 video game characters. And that's it. Adell and 2 characters from Tales Of Symphonia.

I've been obsessed with this game since the first time I was like 12 and I played it at my friend's house. It took me like 3 years to actually find a copy I could buy because I never bought stuff online back then so all I could do was look in the local game shops. 14 years later and I still find myself coming back to the game for another playthough. I'm actually playing it right now in my phone lmao. Loved the vid btw keep it up.

Thanks a lot! I appreciate it! I really wanted to make a love letter for the game. I have the same expirence too, I'm always replaying this one. Compared to all the other games in the series this is the one I always go back to. ( I can't stand Disgaea 1 if I'm being honest). Especially the psp version! There's just so much content to get through.

Yeah the PSP version is my favourite one. I didn't like disgaea 1 that much either but I'm giving it another try with the new mobile version. The cheat shop makes it a lot more bearable I have to say. The auto mode doesn't hurt either lol

I gotta say, you got my personal feelings towards the game (and then some) down to a T, right down to the "Disgaea 1 is just way too slow to enjoy for me" point. Never knew People actually shared my opinion about loving 2 that much, everywhere I go you just see the usual opinion that puts it at the lower end. But yes, I'm there with you, I would be absolutely on-board with getting either a "Disgaea 2 Complete" (or rather "Refine" as it's called in Japan) or a direct Sequel to it like what "Disgaea Dimensions 2" was to the original. Also, on a side-note since you mentioned how much you like Shiloh Strong's Voice as Adell (which infact, I feel like fits him way more than his japanese VA in my opinion, and I absolutely adore Hikaru Midorikawa's work otherwise), I know that he reprised him in D4's "Netherbattle Tournament" DLC, but for some reason every Game after that utterly screws Adell over in the Voice Department in the english Version. Like, his Dimensions 2 Voice doesn't fit him at all (being a more nasally "Nerdy" Type of Voice) and by 5 he doesn't even get proper Sentences anymore, having just basic Grunts and such as Voice Clips, which really just makes it sting even more. ALSO also, let it be known that I both hate and love you right now for making me wanna replay Rhapsody xD As cheesy as that game is, I actually like it quite a bit for being such a cute little romp to play through. Well that, and that ending. Man, that was a feels-trip from what I can remember...

Thanks so much! It's great to see anyone say they like Disgaea 2 so much. For some reason it's just an unpopular opinion, but I've never loved any game in the series as much as 2. Maybe it's nostalgia, but it's the only one I've constantly gone back to. I had to check it for myself! They really did get Shiloh Strong back for Disgea 4! That just makes it even more disappointing that his voice is changed in every other entry. I need him back for a Disgaea 2 remake/dimensions 2!!! Don't get me started on rhapsody. That game is a guilty pleasure of mine & the music is a full bop!

I love 2 for the sheer fact that we get rozalin to humiliate laharl that overlord needs to get knocked a few pegs down I like him but he's a brat 99% of the times so it was fun seeing his ass get handed to him and watch him bolt outta that fight... Also Rozalin is fav. Disgaea character which is not far off being second is prier ..... As for rhapsody I did play that game dunno if I finished it thou also forgot which console/handheld in played it with lol

It actually pretty painful to know that his original English voice got replaced. I assumed Shiloh just decided to leave or retire.

I love Disgaea 2. I always felt it has the best Characters and Story of all of the games. I couldn't get into 6, but I did probably put the most time in 5 because 5's mechanics are really good even if the characters and story are bland. 4 is my Second favorite solely because of Val.

I started with Disgaea 2 and ive played every single one since...yes even 3 (Its horrible) And honestly this will hold a special place in my heart always!

I started with Disgaea 2 as well and if there's one thing that 100% elevates it above the rest it's the music and sound design. The music is so perfect, unique and exciting in this game that it was aggressively frustrating to me that the soundtracks of other Disgaeas are nowhere near as good. Music is very important to me and I think Disgaea 4 or 5 could have easily been my top favorites if only their OSTs weren't so forgettable and the characters weren't so overly chatty in battles, but it's 2 that takes the cake not only because of the music but because it's just a really solid game all around, even if it does look a bit dated with no Complete edition in sight.

I genuinely love the opening & ending songs, which is not something I can say for any other Disgaea game. I wish there was some sort of complete edition too. It's unfair that the first game gets all the love, while 2 only gets ports. It can't be that hard to update the sprites, considering they're all in the HD games.

Disgaea 2 is also easily my favorite of all the ones I have played. Still need to get around to 3 and 4. I will say though in terms of the story by itself I probably would give it to 1. However where 2 really shines in my opinion are the character interactions and developments. Especially with Adell and Rozalin. Seeing the transition from tolerating each other, to caring for each other, then finally loving each other to me was just perfect. Then seeing that love persist in 5 just made me smile. I also would love to see a remaster like the others have gotten with the "complete" versions. I wouldn't even mind NIS giving Adell a different VA. Just at least give him a voice. They really did him dirty in 5 with just quick grunts and "wOaHwOaHwOah" I also find it funny how we have the opposite thoughts regarding Tink and Axel. I find Tink to be the more tolerable one and groan whenever Axel shows up on screen lol

Thanks for commenting, I appreciate it. It's not controversial to say Disgaea 1 gas the better story, I'm just a bit bias since I played 2 first. And going back to 1 was so difficult. Do you know how slow that game feels after playing 2? Even the complete version still feels slow. ( I know you can change the speed by the way). But even battle animations don't have that same power. Completely agree with the Adell and Roazlin part though. Those two were such a good couple. We've never got another relationship like that in the series. It feels special even across the other games. How could you not like the dark hero Axel!? Did Axel mode not even make you feel a little bad for the guy? There's a reason they bought him back for a role in Disgaea 4. Though, I do wish they had brought Adell back with him. That stupid rivalry was the best part of his character. Anyway, sorry for the rant. Thanks for watching.

Yeah 1 was a lot slower compared to 2 there's definitely no question there. I have actually only ever played the ps2 version of the game so I never experienced dark hero days despite having a psp (pretty much avoided it because of my dislike of axel lol in retrospect its a very stupid and petty reason but here i am) I think the main reason I don't like Axel is his arrogant, showboaty personality. I just never really liked characters like that lol. I do love Axels theme though. It is amazing and I almost hate the fact I love it so much when I dont care for the guy it's supposed to represent lol. I should get around to at least giving that a try one of these days. Either by finding/reviving my old psp and finding the game or probably easier yet get the pc version assuming that also includes DHD. playing that may very well change my perspective on him.

Oh sh*t, I never actually made the connection when I played through the game that the summoning did not in fact fail. By the time Rozalin was revealed to be the real Zenon I kind of forgot about the intro summoning and so literally made the connection as you were talking about the intro to the game.

The most funny thing in disgaea 2 are the items descriptions..Axel is just a second..

For me the best Disgaea is clear: -Disgaea 1 for the characters and comedy -Disgaea 2 for the gameplay pacing -Disgaea 4 for the long time Motivation and the Protagonist (and the most fun online functions if you are into that) -Disgaea D2 for the character in-battle interactions, the variety of units and bonus characters (including the most La Pucelle characters) and including front view sprites -Disgaea 5 for the character world board game. evidently deciding on the best Disgaea is easy! I mean worst, seems it's Disgaea 3 Anyway the PSP version of Disgaea 2 was the NIS game I spend the most time with, at least until I got La Pucelle Ragnarok, which by now easily doubles my Disaea 2 playtime. If we count La Pucelle as Disgaea 0, than La Pucelle Ragnarok is the best Disgaea, while La Pucelle (vanilla) may be the worst, sandwitching the other games.

@@og-ru6oc After The unique Disgaea 2, Disgaea 3 stuck closer to the formular of the original Disgaea (Similar charachter archetypes, similar basic plotline). For people who don't mind that, didn't even play the original, or theoretically loved the basic formular but couldn't warm up to the original for some reason, Disgaea 3 may be great. But after Disgaea 2 which I liked a lot (And La Pucelle, which also was in many ways very similar, just as good, yet in many ways very different), it's not what I wanted at all.

I love this game. The characters were so well written.

All of the disgaea series is awesome. Can only play it on PC so I only played 1,2 and 5 but I like Disgaea 1 even more. Maybe just because it was the first that I played but I think it would easily be my top 1 by far if it was a bit faster

"Finally, a cannon relationship in the series" ? Dont 1 2 and 5 all have one

None of them even kissed or said they loved each other in those games. Rozalin and Adell actually kiss and are shown to be together.

I still dont get why vyers uses swords when in game he uses gloves and why laharl uses an amano harakiri when the yoshitsuna makes more sense...

I know it's an old game but you really should put a spoiler warning in the title. You spoiled several things for me as I'm only playing this the first time.

I first played the game on the ps3 shop its a great game but in my honest opinion i think 4&5 are the best but that because i played and beat those first and then played 2 so yay tell me your other favorite nis games

I liked the story and characters but trying to get Max felony for more exp was annoying and wayyyyyyy too grindy. So as soon as i finished the story, i had no interest in playing more of it.

I have only played the original version of Disgaea 2 in PS2 (I know there was another version with some changes and focusing on Axel, I think so?), and I have to say Disgaea 2 is my favorite one in the franchise, (I haven't played 6, tho).

Disagea D2 is the best one for me
