Few things: first off, don't be spooked, this channel is never going to be solely or even primarily a news-oriented channel. My main content will always be scripted/edited projects. This also isn't meant to serve as "coverage" per se. I essentially read the interview, observed the discourse, and these are my takes on what I read and what I've observed. People ask about it on stream, so this was intended to be a slightly more polished but still off-the-cuff discussion on these points. I agree that I wouldn’t call myself invested in the FF characters in any way even coming close to resembling my love for the original cast, but to me FF is an integral part of the “Vibe” of KH. I think it’s on equal footing with Disney, or at least I wish that it was. I don’t put someone like Leon at the same level as Roxas of course, but I hold him equal to Herc, for instance. I would be sad to see it go away, not from a character perspective, but because it just feels like part of the DNA. I get considerably more hype for watching say Cloud pop in to say hello than Aladdin, but that’s just my taste I guess.

Nomura said as early as the first KH Ultimania interview that he added FF characters because he couldn't think of any Disney characters that would fit certain roles and he didn't want to create new characters for those roles because he didn't think original supporting characters would be memorable in a game packed with beloved Disney characters. I feel like theres no real reason we can't just sprinkle FF characters all over the place. These clearly aren't the canon versions of the FF cast for a few reasons, so why can't we just have Zidane be a keyblade wielder from the age of fairy tales instead of new character #25? Why can't Lightning and Noctis be Sora's new party members in Quadratum? Just throw FF characters into random places and see what sticks; Auron was probably the best FF character implementation and thats basically what they did with him. Maybe I'm being too reductive, but it's not like they have to jump through hoops to include these characters because they are owned by square, so there shouldn't be too much corporate red tape here. Maybe they legit just can't think of anything.

nomura said he only put in ff characters until kh characters can stand on their own which they now can. The problem is that nomura now has like 6+ main characters that need to be properly developed as well along with characters we don't know yet and the main opposition. Plus we need to worry about storywriting here. I'm not gonna much into it cause i know nomura has his problems himself with storywriting but whenever we had ff characters in the games they had some sort of purpose. We really can't say that with the kh3 remind dlc where they had little purpose and served more as an apology than decent storywriting. I understand that ff characters are apart of the vibe of kingdom hearts but we can't just sprinkle them in cause at that point we're just playing kh for ff characters and you might as well just play ff in that case

@@kaos-qc5ho If that's what his plan is, I'm out. I don't care about Luxu or the satanist goats or the mobile game shit. Kingdom Hearts was created from the nice mix of FF and Disney. If I have to tolerate one more fucking Snowball building minigame instead of getting to defend city gates with Squall, then this game is no longer for me. I honestly don't get this argument. So the character who show up for 5 minutes and do something cool get pushed out of the game for Disney cartoon characters who do fuck-all in the story and live sheltered, selfish storylines while Sora tags along? Literally how does this help Sora establish himself as a character? If they wanted the KH cast to be in the spotlight now, they should've toned down on Disney instead of toning down on FF.

  • @kaos-qc5ho

    @kaos-qc5ho

    2 жыл бұрын

@@wevegottrouble5891 Lets go through this point by point. 1. Kingdom hearts was not created from the nice mix of ff and Disney- it merely benefitted from it. KH is, was, and forever will be mostly Disney. We don't go to ff worlds or properties- like ever- ff is usually just bound to a couple or so original worlds and that's it. It's mostly Disney. I understand that ff greatly contributed to KH popularity but that was just for the jrpg fanbase. Disney contributed greatly as well for people who were casuals or just plain Disney fans getting them into gaming and don't underestimate Disney's popularity at the time. I know plenty of people including myself who got into KH cause of Disney and then got into ff later. ( I was like 5 when I played kh1 so go figure.) 2. Your complaint about the snowball mini-game is valid in its own right. I will be honest and say kh3 was not what we wanted to be but I also feel like if the alternative is doing something with ff characters rather then just doing it alone with just the kh cast then once again just play ff instead. I feel like people are focused way too much on ff when this series is called "kingdom hearts" and it is understandable due to the history of this series with ff but we need to remember the kh cast is the focus of this series. 3.FF is not being cooled down for disney it's being cooled down for KH. If the kh characters are to stand out more we need to cool down on ff and not disney due simply to the way the game is structured. If we cool down on disney the game will either be shorter due to less worlds or completely different from past entries and fans wont appreciate that and SE won't like that. Also keep in my mind the disney tyrants from above own the rights to this series so yea...Additionally, as you said the ff characters do things Disney characters can't and so serve as the perfectly for the KH cast to be the alternative to just putting in FF characters. Put simply, toning down on Disney just means less properties for Sora to shine. Toning down on FF means more opportunities for KH to hog the spotlight... of their own series which helps build their characters. 4. Also yea they are toning down on disney. Nomura himself said there will be less disney world in kh4 and there will be more of focus on quadratum as it is a hub world we'll visit many times throughout the story of kh4 apparently which potentially could serve as an opportunity for ff to shine although i doubt it since ff characters are pretty much restricted to hollow bastion ( and traverse town but thats been gone for awhile and maybe Olympus since im pretty sure its coming back with that teaser at the end of the kh4 announcement trailer). It'll prob be focused more on kh but perhaps new ff characters could be there or returning ones like cloud and tifa. Due to ff7 rising popularity again and the way they ended in kh2 I'd say there's a decent chance of seeing them again so there's that. Although i do understand your feelings. I was disappointed with the lack of ff in kh3 and the way they got integrated the dlc but I also am understanding of Nomura's viewpoint and logic. In the end it all comes down to the way that Nomura does the story. Keep in mind this man is not always the best at knowing what the fanbase wants which is on him. If you read the interview this man literally thought that the fans hated reaction commands (really?) which is why they werent in kh3 but are now being considered to come back in kh4 along with ff characters but if they don't its just something that needs to be done for the sake of the story and so i understand that if you're not into that then this game series aint for you anymore but also keep in mind the reasons Nomura is doing this.

I do care that the Restoration committee and Destiny island trio (and the Disciplinary committee to a lesser degree) seems to be shoved to the sideline for Ansems apprentices and Hayner, Pence, and Olette. It’s just strange that a game centering around friendship just neglects these characters who have been here since the beginning, especially when we visit the worlds they live in during the game (granted via cutscene). The FF characters in Traverse Town and Radient Garden were Soras guides during the start of KH1 and his trusted allies in KH2. Destiny Islands FF characters are literally your childhood friends. I agree about all of this though, like all my friends keep acting like they didn’t really care for the FF cast yet I do, and it felt weird to me when I read in the interview that it wasn’t meant to be a Disney and FF/Square crossover, since wasn’t that one of the big selling points of the game back then? I mean I get the idea of the Restoration Committee having less plot relevance and therefore less screen time or a similar thing with Hundred Acre Wood in KH3 where Sora is beginning to move on as he grows older and might not need the group anymore, but it does feel kinda sad to me, y’know?

The more likely takeaway is that people just want to capitalize on the short term hype that the "What if...?" crowd will draw thinking about Nintendo properties being in KH. Which, admittedly, would be pretty cool, I'd love to see Goofy being interrogated by Solid Snake for intel. I think when he mentioned the graphics thing, he was referencing the interviewers question. They wanted to know how much representation Disney will have, and this is him getting in front of it early being like "Yeah, we're gonna have fewer, higher quality worlds since we can do so much more now." So probably 4-5 larger worlds that are more similar to sprawling maps from KH3

Like how Ratchet and Clank has these huge beautifully rendered worlds, but at the cost of the amount of planets being reduced. To your speculation about Disney being more difficult to work with than some of the other companies Sakurai approached for Smash: Namco Bandai helped make the game, Phil Spencer of Rare has gone on record saying that getting Banjo and Kazooie in was an easy deal, SNK gave Sakurai a crap ton of characters (in the background) and songs to use in the stage with Terry, and some characters were already Nintendo exclusive even if their parent company isn't (E.G. the Xenoblade characters). So yeah, even though it appears Disney is more cooperative than we the fans initially thought, there are definitely some companies that are easier to work with for getting characters into Smash.

"and some characters were already Nintendo exclusive even if their parent company isn't (E.G. the Xenoblade characters)." Um, just a small correction, the "parent company" for the Xenoblade games, Monolith Soft, is 100% Nintendo owned. They bought the company just a little before the original Wii launched, and they've helped out with a number of Nintendo games since. The Team that developed Xenoblade 2 for instance also worked extensively on Breath of the Wild to the point where it caused development trouble for Xenoblade 2. Now Monolith Soft (is that supposed to be one word?, eh, too lazy to check) has a fully dedicated "Zelda only" team to make sure that such things don't happen again. They also have numerous art studios that have lent their talents to various other Nintendo project. My point is, while you are mostly correct in saying that some characters where Nintendo exclusive even if their parent company isn't, the Xenoblade characters, at least right now, aren't the best examples of this. Not trying to be "aggressive" or whatever, just trying to clarify because I get the feeling that people don't realize just how much Xenoblade IS a Nintendo franchise.

If Sora and the original cast are the A Team then Leon and the gang are the B Team. Let’s be real if the main cast got wiped out, Leon and the others would be the next line of defense given how knowledgeable they are of things. It was so weird in KH3 Sora never questioning Ienzo about Leon and the others. It was so weird that Leon had no issues with Ansem’s apprentices just coming in and taking over the show when they were the ones who wrecked Radiant Garden in the first place. In KH2 everything was setting up Leon being kind of the new leader of that world. Every time I play KH3 I feel a sense of lacking because I can’t reunite with Leon and the others as Sora. I mean Xehanort ruined their world so they have as much invested in taking him down as anyone. Imagine Leon and Yuffie showing up with Yen Sid in the Keyblade Graveyard, that would have been sick! And here Nomura is with the perfect chance to bring Cloud and Sephiroth (and by extension Zack and Tifa) back into Quadratum. Explaining they vanished from the KH reality in KH2 and ended up in Quadratum, thus explaining there absence in KH3 and finally resolving this subplot. They weren't apparent of the grand scheme of the game, they just existed to help sell copies. And considering Nomura's previous comments about their recent absence (in particular, one where he describes KH as "being able to stand on it's own"), it seems pretty clear that Nomura either was a part of, or has never left, that mindset of their original inclusion. It really doesn't seem like a huge problem other than Square not wanting to do it. I dunno. Like you, I played KH1 when I was young. I was 12 and the opposite happened to me: it introduced me to FF and then I went and played all of them and it became my favorite series. When I was an early teen waiting for scraps of KH2 news to appear on the internet, I was so excited wondering what a KH version of my favorite FF characters would look like in the new game. Final Fantasy was used in the marketing, but it's not how the game was first revealed. When announced it was just "Disney meets Square" and marketing turned it into "Disney x Final Fantasy", and then some people were disappointed that FF's role wasn't as big as the Disney properties'. This is why the main story is all about original characters, why there aren't any FF worlds, or why DDD can replace the FF characters with TWEWY characters and it wasn't weird to anyone. The main thing taken are FF's tropes, aesthetics and mechanics, but KH is very much its own thing, as for the Square characters, they were always on the side, they provide the JRPG lore dump, they are fanservice boss fights, they give a sense of meta-familiarity to Square fans that maybe aren't very into Disney movies (literally growing up playing with FF characters or looking up to an adult Squall), and help with some of the themes of the games, but many times they're completely reinterpreted for this. Whenever people say that KH is all about "Disney x Final Fantasy", I feel like they just got tricked by a 2001 marketing team when they were kids and never got over it. Funny enough, most people saying this are the ones that don't even like these games outside of 1 or 2 because they played them as kids lol.

They really were the other side of that bridge that the KH original stuff spans. Especially in KH1 they were so involved and felt like residents of the world. It is the half of KH just as much as Disney is. When we lose that like in KH3 some of the tone and KH "magic" goes out the door. There could also be integration of Lilo and Nani's loss of their parents and how it could connect to the character's loss of Sora (Could also be used to make Sora regret his actions since he sees what he might've put his friends through). Could possibly tie the power of waking or just the connection between hearts in general to Hawaiian concepts such as aloha. Does something need to be necessary to be put into a game? Just my two cents, but I've found some of the best parts of most games to be stuff designers added that they didn't need to do. As an example, Kirby and the Forgotten Land didn't need to do a revamped version of the Meta Knight fight from Kirbys Adventure that then gave you a Meta Knight mask exactly like the one Kirby has when he copies Meta Knight in Smash Bros that gives him Sword beams like those in LoZ BotW at full HP, but they did all of that and the game has only been made the better for it. I say rule of cool is always a great design philosophy. Also, most of the KH original characters have had full character arcs as well, but I think they still deserve to be around and do stuff, so why should the Final Fantasy character be any different? Idk, all the arguments against just feel like lazy design philosophy that at best only make sense in a vaccum.

I mean it isn't as simple as doing something just to do it. Including FF characters, especially now, takes a lot of resources. It means making new models, animating them, writing and recording their dialogue, creating cutscenes around them etc etc. They have a limited resources, budget and time so any addition like that will be at the cost of something else. When it comes to FF cameos they have to ask themselves 'is this cameo worth taking resources away from other parts of the game'? And have to seriously consider that. It's not like if FF characters were in KH3 base game for example, the game would be exactly the same just with FF chars now in it, something else would have had to have resources taken away from it for it to be implemented.

I'm not a diehard FF fan, but I consider Leon, Yuffie, Cloud, Aerith, Cid, etc to be an integral part of KH, especially worlds like Radiant Garden, Traverse Town, and even Destiny Islands. I don't really need any new FF characters to be added in, and I don't even really need the already-in-KH final fantasy characters to have a major role in the story or anything, but I just hope that the devs will keep them in the games going forward and not act like they don't exist anymore just because the original cast has gotten too big. Also, I get that KH was never really supposed to be just a "Disney x Final Fantasy crossover", but it feels kinda shitty for Nomura to suggest that FF characters were only included at first just because KH was a new franchise and wasn't fleshed out enough on its own. Following that logic, any new game franchise would have to borrow characters from other properties just because its characters and world building aren't developed enough yet, which is obviously a ludicrous idea. No, FF characters and lore are a key part of what makes the premise of KH special, not just something added in to "lend a hand for everyone to get to know these [original Kingdom Hearts] characters better". If people can't connect with your characters, then the solution to that problem would be to write your characters better, not to throw in random properties from other games to compensate.

This series has a bad habit of never knowing when to just let go of characters who have already served their purpose. This got especially apparent in KH3, which brought back nearly every character from the previous games who had previously been killed off or phased from existence. And that extended even to characters who nobody would have complained if they had not appeared, like Ansem the Wise, Riku Replica, or Dilan and Aeleus. And then there's the parade of interchangeable nonentities that Union X and the mobile games keep introducing. It gets to a point where I feel like seeing fewer FF characters and instead getting more original character focus is just not an even trade. That all was completely fine. As far as the UX characters go, exactly how important they’ll be is yet to be seen and at this point I’m open to literally anything as long as it remains engaging. Just because Nomura is done with using the FF characters as marketing ploys, doesn't mean the fanbase will just automatically discard their feelings toward them & it's sucky of him to not of had that in true consideration in the beginning. 2. Due to the current plot we're dealing with it's understandable not to have FF characters for awhile.. bc yeah that's asking alot & be def ridiculous shoehorning, plus since we're still dealing with Nomura's infamous style of writing there's no way to expect any elegant execution out of that request, so yeah I'll be patient - BUT with that said. After the arc is wrapped up, Sora is back home/access to his universe again, & Nomura doesn't hit us with anymore narrow major plotlines..there's no excuse for us to not go back to the status quo. Also can we please stop acting(lying) like the FF characters were these huge stagehogs that stole every ocs spotlight?? Literally just Leon & his small crew were & STILL ARE the only SEMI-plot relevant of the bunch. Especially since the guy also admitted in the same interview that he doesn't even know what he wants to do with most of the secondary characters outside MOM & the other antagonistic groups(☠??)..Bro I can't with this guy again 😭

I'm of the opposite opinion with Final Fantasy characters - they're as necessary for the tone as Disney characters and provide a nice contrast in terms of themes, with original characters being a nice balance between the two. When I was younger, I thought the limited involvement of FF was more due to trying to manage the age rating or how mature the games came across compared to the more upbeat tone of the Disney characters. If they view FF as training wheels they can get rid of and push out the involvement of FF characters, that's massively disappointing to me. [Also not the biggest fan of series like KH increasingly favouring graphical realism over content. Balancing is expected and reasonable, but I've watched enough series go down the favouring graphical realism path to have lost interest in valuing it over other aspects of a game]

Kingdom Hearts was and still is one of my biggest special interests, so the changes have been rough for me. My hot take is that the big decisions being made for the game are more focused around marketability to new players (eg Disney attractions, graphical realism, open world design, flooding the game with new mechanics that don't necessarily balance out well) than building on or continuing series traditions (the game starting on and revisiting an original world, superbosses, strategic depth that the player needs to learn on harder difficulties, etc). Both Disney and Square Enix are tending towards the same problems a lot of 'AAA' game development is these days, speaking as an attempted game programmer, so I'm not sure they'll return to the old Kingdom Hearts formula in future games sadly.

My take on the FF characters, like yeah, I agree they shouldn’t steal focus but they are a part of the appeal of Kingdom Hearts so I don’t see why we couldn’t get more cameos just as fun fan service. KH has been marketed as a Disney and FF crossover in the past so it makes sense that that’s something fans are looking for in a KH entry (even though FF characters are only really relevant in KH 1 & 2). The Gullwings f.e. only show up for like two scenes and then are gone forever, didn’t really serve any major role in the plot but I don’t see anyone complaining about that. It was a fun little cameo and that’s about all that needs to be to it. Slap Lightning in Quadratum as a random shopkeep or NPC with a side quest that serves as an homage to FFXIII, have Lulu walking around doing whatever, use Chaos as inspiration for a Heartless boss or even make him a secret boss, make Zidane a cereal mascot or something in Quadratum idk. Just have fun with it, they have this entire pantheon of characters that they could use due to the nature of the franchise and they’re kind of wasting an opportunity to make something fun and dumb imo, which I feel KH has been lacking a bit in the past two or three entries.

"KH has been marketed as a Disney and FF crossover in the past" Except it hasn't. It's been marketed as a Disney and Square crossover. "Just have fun with it, they have this entire pantheon of characters that they could use due to the nature of the franchise and they’re kind of wasting an opportunity to make something fun and dumb imo, which I feel KH has been lacking a bit in the past two or three entries." If you ask me, if that's what makes KH sell because they're just there, then it's really stupid. I mean, KH has been doing fine on its own without the need of FF. Look at Days and DDD. They did fine and no one complained about them being gone. KH3 even sold seven million copies despite the fact that there was no FF other than mentions.

  • @handsoaphandsoap

@@Redxan600 Just the fact the characters are there is basis enough that they were definitely using FF to sell the game to their previous player base, otherwise they wouldn't have used them. It's smart business sense, they capitalized on using Disney properties to sell the game to a general public and by also adding the FF characters, you bring in that audience and also prime the audience to expect a more mature and grounded story than that of the Disney movies (btw just talking about the first game, later games didn't really do this or needed to do this since they're selling a tried idea as sequels to an established franchise). And I never said the FF characters were a particular selling point nor that they absolutely need to be there for KH to be a successful franchise, obviously that is not the case with multiple entries not having FF characters in it yet performing well. I will also play future games regardless of if the FF crossover is maintained or not, it's ultimately a very minor aspect of the series. All I'm saying is there's precedent for having FF characters for this particular franchise and there is nothing to be lost by having more FF cameos so why not? Why not add random characters as a bit of fun fan service? The game is gonna need some NPCs anyway, why not utilize these resources you already have at hand when you only stand to gain by doing it anyways?

Regarding the FF stuff, I guess I always viewed them on par with the Disney characters (even though they're featured less frequently than those), so when Nomura says they're difficult to add in I just don't understand it. Wakka, Selphie, and Tidus are childhood friends of Sora, Riku, and Kairi. It would've made far more sense for them to feature at some point in KH3's story compared to shoehorning in Merlin, Pooh, Scrooge, and Remy.

They don't have to be part of the main story, just cool side things Now that Sora is living in an apartment and the gameplay of kingdom hearts will evolve towards that, that will give them more room to just put FF/square enix characters where ever they want. Heck, have them as side quests ___________________________________ Sidequest idea: Sora finds Ignis having trouble with the Regalia. Sora could go around the city looking for a mechanic to help fix the car. Reward: this builds a relationship between Sora and Ignis, and maybe Ignis can teach different food recipes to Sora to cook back at his apartment (similar to KH3 cooking) ______________________________ I could go on and on, and their stories don't have to be exactly like their original counterparts: Maybe Prompto and 2B have a similar backstory because they both are artificial humans Maybe Sora bumps into lightning who is a fashion designer. not sure if anyone else has said this, but i personally read the point about graphics as nomura acknowledging how there were less worlds in khiii vs. the earlier numbered installments, and how that trend is likely to continue in khiv. i remember feeling a bit cheated with khiii from the outset because there were less worlds numerically, but then after playing i realized how much more depth each of the worlds had (some more than others, but the point still stands). a lot of that is due to the improvements in technology (less loading screens, more open spaces) and graphics (they can tackle more interesting, varied worlds in the same game), so i'm pretty sure that was the connection. he got asked about disney worlds and answered that they'll be there, but that improved graphics quality ironically means less of those worlds overall because they want to - and are able to - do more with each individual world. so tldr, i basically read that as nomura confirming that they're going for a quality, not quantity approach with disney worlds/worlds in general going forward. tempering expectations that we're going to get a whole slew of new worlds, but promising the updated graphics quality will mean whatever worlds are there are dynamic and interesting. a quick note on the possibility of more side games: i wouldn't be surprised if we see another side game on switch. my fantasy is a days remake that takes advantage of the updated graphics and maybe has new side content to flesh out the lea and isa story, but i'm aware that's probably a pipe dream. FINALLY i'd just like to say pat you should totally play persona. it's an absolutely maddening experience, but a whole lot of fun once you sink your teeth into it. they recently announced a lot of the persona games are getting ports to newer consoles/pc, so it's a good time to dive into the series and see if it's for you, and you're more than welcome to start with the most recent release, p5r.

I agree that flushing out original KH characters should take precedence by far, which is one of the reasons that KH3 just didn't meet expectations for me. So many chances for original KH character interactions are bogged down by slow and uncreative writing, and yet KH3 cutscenes feel forever long because 1/3 of them are quoting entire chunks of Disney movies verbatim, 1/3 of them set up for the Foretellers arc, and 1/3 are rambling on in the Disney worlds about things like Studying the bonds that toys' heart's can make even though you are clashing with some Keyblade masters in a few days. Finding 7 new lights in case the guardians can't hack it, even though just kidnapping Rapunzel and clashing with her sounds way easier than any Keyblade wielder. And trying to digitize hearts or whatever Dark Riku was doing in sanfransokyo. You can't burn through that much of your runtime on things you don't plan on paying off and are just glorified excuses to be in Disney worlds again, and hope that all your original characters who are AFK for 80% or more of your game are going to get any screen time/development/resolutions. It just feels like the KH story was kicked to the curb and FF characters got the axe completely to make room for shot-for-shot Disney movie recreations and some cheesy one-liners from Woody and Hiro.

To me, the appeal of Kingdom Hearts has always been the crossover between Disney and Final Fantasy. Even though the series always veered more towards Disney, Final Fantasy was still a major aspect of the series. Even though that didn't completely go away in KH3 - due to spells and other small cameos - it was quite jarring to have scenes set in Radiant Garden and not at least have Leon show up for a couple of lines, especially as he became the de facto leader of Radiant Garden in KH2 and he's no-where to be seen whilst Ansem's apprentices just have free reign of the castle. Then there's Seifer's gang being completely absent. They didn't have to do anything, but it's weird that they were left out of Twilight Town. Also, it was a huuuuge missed opportunity to not include Ignis into the cooking minigame. I don't know if he was still pissed he was taken off FFXV or how much it changed from it's original concept of Versus XIII, but it was a no-brainer to get Ignis involved in some way. Final Fantasy characters don't have to be the main focus, they don't have to be major characters in the main plot of a Kingdom Hearts game, but they should be involved. They could easily be side characters in Disney worlds; imagine if they had a medieval fantasy world, like the Sword in the Stone and they had classic FF characters like the Warrior of Light, or Cecil and Kain from FFVI.

While I totally agree with you about the FF stuff, I think a solution would be to include a FF world. I know that it wouldn't have worked for the previous games because the tone would be wildly different from everything else, but with the way this series seems to be going I see no reason why they can't have Sora visit a FF themed world. Or they could even take characters from FF properties that we haven't previously seen and just have them be citizens of Quadratum. I think that would be the best way to do it too. Why can't Yozora and Noctis live in the same building? What can't Lightning be Sora's next door neighbour? Maybe her and Strelitzia are friends. And if Sora and Strelitzia are here after having "died" then maybe they could work Zack in as well. They don't need to be major players or anything but just having them there would be cool

I could see that we get with Quadratums Day to Day Life something like the beginning of KH2, as we play Roxas Day to Day, with a bit of work and crazy story stuff, that leads to Disney Words. I could immagine that Sora has to use his Keyblade Beam Portal Thing, that we saw all the time in Union Cross and one time in KH3.

My only question is if the reason there will not be FF characters is there are to many original characters now, why did he also say most of those original characters wouldn't have space in the game? Other than Sora who else would be taking up the space then? To me it sounds almost like they want to make new original characters but aren't going to be keeping the old ones around.

I totally get haveing less FF stuff especially in KH 3 but even if FF was just a crutch, Leon and the gang are kinda part of the team now. Its like how in Dragon Ball Z at a time Yamcha and Krillan where like major players and stuff but got sidelined and its just awkward and clumsy to act like they never mattered to begin with

Strong agree, it's very weird and clumsy to have them so involved in important moments during 1 and 2, then not show up for anything until the full game priced but still optional content DLC in 3. They might not be main characters but neither are several reoccurring Disney characters like Yen Sid. It's weird for them to have disappeared from the plot altogether, especially in parts where you could reasonably expect them to show up (for instance helping out alongside Zexion, or Sephiroth being an optional superboss in late game content).

*insert THESE GAMES ARE MADE FOR KIDS, NOT YOU* /j I agree with you and it’s sad. Make the games appeal to younger and younger audiences so gullible parents will buy things that are poorly rated by the demographics who grew up with them. Just like the video game crash of the 80s before my time, video games are back to being just kids toys these days… unless you play the games dominated by MLG and E-sport players, in which case you can only have a little casual fun.

Honestly i feel the same. Quadratum just looks... so lifeless to me and has none of the more classic kh archetecture and even if i'm sure there will be more whimsy in the final product the fact that this is what theyre showing off says to me that this will be the primary focus from now on. And taking the ff guys out of there is such a shame too...

The stuff about the other characters like Roxas, xion etc not potentially showing up much because their arcs are over is quite surprising to me personally because Ventus’s arc is far from over which makes me think if they’re not gonna make a side game with him in then what are they gonna do with his arc. It’s pivotal to the lost master arc and needs a side game or 2 to really push the narrative forward. To come out and say that there may not be any more exploring character arcs catches me off guard.

I feel a bit sad about the FF characters news in the recent interview because when we see them, their unique and have these different yet familiar things about them from their original material. Meanwhile the Disney characters aren’t different at all because we’re usually going through their movies and aren’t allowed as much creative liberties. They’re pretty much stuck in a bubble.

The only part of this interview that worries me is the bit about the side characters. I think it would be very disappointing if we spent all this time waiting for them to come back only for them to have very small roles going forward.
