Mamamoo is such a great group. They all sing beautifully, they are called the vocal queens of kpop for a reason 😌 Moonbyul is one of the greatest rappers ever. She has so much personality and I really love how she breaks the "gender stereotypes" that usually is very strong in kpop girl groups. If you notice, she wears whatever she likes 💜 Wheein has the sweetest voice, in my opinion, it’s like silk, so delicate, so soft but so beautiful Solar is a power house, the girl CAN sing Hwasa is gorgeous and her raspy voice is perfection. I also love how confident she is, she’s sexy without trying Lex, watch a guide on them, you’re gonna love them even more 💜💜💜

Basically she wrote this song to reply to these attack as she wanted to say : “you can criticise me but I’m still cool and I’ll be cool many times again; I don’t mind about your opinion”. After the critics kept coming after Hwasa for not conforming to "typical Korean beauty standards", she said "If I don't conform to their standards, I'll just establish my own." For someone so young, that lady is an icon

"Where Are We Now" also hits a bits differently as when they release this track, they were up for contract renewals and Wheein has announced she will not be renewing her contract with RBW which was their current agency and thus we had no idea if Mamamoo was gonna stay together or they were splitting up the group, thus the song hits REALLY differently when the backstory gets added in. This song and Akmu's "How Can I Love the Heartbreak, You're the One I Love" are probably my two favourite kpop ballads.

Their discography is massive…. You have the group, sub units (Mamamoo+, Angel line, Rap line) colabs, OST's and solo works… also Mamamoo are known as having a powerful stage presence and they don't lip sync.. backing tracks yes but when they are singing thats what you are hearing so well worth going to their concerts. They will do cameo's of each others solo works during the concert - Solar (Honey done by Wheein) Moon (Eclipse done by Hwasa) Wheenin (Easy - done by Solar) Hwasa (Twit done by Moon) so it would be worth looking at those solo works pre concert, also they do Spit it out, Maria, Lunatic and Make me Happy,,,, Enjoy the ride 😊

if you’re debating about attending the mamamoo concert…GO, 100% GO! not only is this very likely the last time they will be in the us, not one person that has gone to a mamamoo concert (at least from what ive heard) as regretted going (even non fans). so even if you dont get through everything, i guarantee that going will absolutely be worth your money

This is their first tour in 9 years! They have been to the US and performed at K-Con, but no full concerts outside southeast Asia. Illella has a lot of callbacks to their other title tracks, none of which you would have picked up on, so you should watch it again after watching the rest of their title songs. One of Hwasa's alternative universes was being a mom, so they found a little girl who looked just like her and even gave her a mole on her cheek just like Hwasa's. Their discography is going to be a little intimidating... they have over 400 songs to their credit, mostly solo songs for TV shows (OST's, I don't know what that stands for), but ten (?) major and mini albums as a group as well. I've been a fan for five years and still feel like I've barely scratched the surface. They released 54 songs in 2022 alone, more than one a week!

Also, 1 sub unit album (Mamamoo+), 12 solo albums, ep's and singles (Wheein 4, Hwasa 3, Moonbyul 3, Solar 2), as well as countless collabs, features and OST's. 😊

Many recordings of their concerts, even these from fancams, confirm that they are sound and look even better live.

Hip is towards both the media AND their haters (trust me, there are a LOT of them) :)) the message of the song is basically every one of us are hip as long as we stay exactly as we are, with no care towards those who might say stuff and hate on us senselessly

Mamamoo is really different live. I really recommend you go see them. I went In the Manila/Philippines stop. I was in VIP but i had friends in the Gen Ad, and they said even in Gen ad they were phenomenal. the concert is now one of my core memories. I don't like spending so much, but the concert was so worth it. I really hope you go see them :D Tip: If you are going to the concert, I highly recommend checking out all their main solo stuff before the concert. each member has already released solo albums. But the it's the title songs that are a must.

I found LM first and then found Mamamoo, HIP reminded me so much of Wasabi and it made me fall in love with them

When I first got into Mamamoo, I used to get Solar and Whee In mixed up constantly. Looking back, I laugh at myself, because I don't think they even look that similar anymore. I have binged Mamamoo, and only Mamamoo, for the past 2 months straight, and once I learned their personalities it was so easy to tell who was who. Btw, once Mamamoo grabs a hold of you, your life will be changed forever, in a positive way. I personally think it's because their voices are so angelic. I'm being 100% serious. #MamamooAddiction

Solar is a champion boxer, a lead singer for a drag queen rock band, and the rebellious daughter of the emperor's concubine. Moonbyul is a director, a choreographer and the CEO of a music company. Wheein is an activist, a painter, and an indie singer/song writer. Hwasa is jazz singer, a single mom and president. There are 12 teasers that contain a lot of material about the alternate worlds that is not in the MV. Solar has a video on solarsido (her youtube channel) about taking a boxing lesson. Where are we now is wrenching coming at it cold, but it was so much more when you know the details. All kpop groups sign 7 year contracts when they debut. This song came out just before Mamamoo's 7th anniversary and Wheein had not resigned so we did not know what was going to happen to them (she eventually signed elsewhere for solo work but resigned with RBW for Mamamoo). The song is about them looking back at their career. Hwasa and Wheein have been close friends since middle school and went to Seoul together to become idols so the sung by the two of them "We shared the same dream. Where are we now" was a real gut punch. Mamamoo is probably the deepest rabbit holes in K-pop, over 250 songs, hundreds of hours of variety content (an aspect you haven't really seen yet is that they are great improve comedians), youtube videos etc.

Trust me when I say this that watching these 4 artists/ 4 vocal queens live is amazing. They sound so amazing in real, you will be amazed by their stage presence it’s like they draw you in.. I watch them live in Bangkok. Then coming to the US is a golden chance for you. WAW was like a tribut to the 7 years of MamaMoo.

You should go to their concert!!! I promise you it's all worth it. I brought my sister to the concert who isn't a fan of kpop whatsoever, and in the end she said it's worth it and she was so amazed. Just to hear their stable vocals live is a privilege to achieve as an imoo. 🥰💗

(A fav of mine) and "L.I.E.C". - 'Where are we now' was released around their 7 year anniversary. If you're not aware, in kpop industry groups tend to sign a 7 year contract from debut. That means that after 7 years, a lot of groups tend to disband. A lot of moos were very afraid during this period since one of the girls didn't re-sign with their agency. It is a song for themselves, looking back at their time together and how they felt at the moment. The sentence "the two of us were sharing the same dream" sang by Hwasa and Wheein at the end is very important because they met in junior school and managed to debut in the same group! Besties yeah! - 'Hip' is their most successful song to date. And as you said, it is a clapback to haters and the media. The "ridiculous outfit at airport" part is a reference to paparazzi following idols to airport and media judging their airport outfits. Hwasa was dragged down while she was just trying to be comfortable. There is a lot to know about them. I would strongly advise you to start with a guide first. Moo YT has the most recent one even though a lot has changed since but this will help you get to know their personalities. You must watch them perform live once in a lifetime, they slay. They are 4 vocal, 4 rapper, 4 dancer, 4, performer, 4 songwriter, 4 comedian. They come from a small company that can’t afford to promote them well, that’s why international fans discover them late. Once you Stan, you will never letting go. If you want to know them better, you can watch mamamoo introduction by purple hawke, definitely fall in love with them after knowing their personality. They are the most sincere groups to their fans, they even write songs to their fans which they will sing in concert (I love you too and start wind flower sun). As a European moo that is still waiting for the chance to see the girls live I am gonna tell you to take this chance and go to the concert. Mamamoo is known as a group that shines the brightest live on stage so even if you don't manage to catch up to all the main songs you really should get a ticket because it will be worth it. Their discography is huge because they have been active as a group for 9 years (debuted on june 19th 2014) and they are all active as soloist (moonbyul and solar also have an official sub unit called mamamoo+ now too). They are always making music and love doing it and it shows every time they are on stage. Can't wait for you other reactions. Mamamoo is such a wonderful group, they are insanely talented and incredibly funny and sweet really so I know that if you dive into them you will fall hard for their charms.

You are totally on point with the HIP Song. Mamamoo and especially Hwasa did break with a lot of beauty standards in Korea. Hwasa did receive a lot of hate as she was leaving the plane in jogging pants and visible boxer shorts. Mamamoo did a lot in changing the Standard, Attitude und visiuals of Girl Groups in Korea.

But I think we all know that Girl's Generation led by Taeyeon, Jessica, Tiffany, and Seohyun, was loaded with top vocals and for me, will always be the most talented KPOP girl group vocal wise as a group of 9.
