Just for clarity's sake, all that happened with Wheein will essentially just boil down to her doing her solo stuff with another company. While it is notoriously difficult to get companies on the same page when this happens with other groups (this is not the first time a group has stayed together under different companies), RBW is a much more modern, flexible company and I doubt you'll see or hear much on that front. I would expect to see Wheein as much as you have been in recent years which, while comparatively less than the other members, was still a good amount. The only reason we see more of the other three is because Wheein is much more lowkey compared to third gen's "IT" girl in Hwasa as well as Solar with her massive KZread channel and Byul with her radio show and starring role in Solar's massive KZread channel. However, I would not expect many more comebacks before they finish as a group (next contract is the standard 2-3 years) and girl groups virtually never go past ten years. They have been trending towards solo work for several years now and that will likely only increase and as OT4 they'll probably only do one release a year. However, you can probably expect each girl to put out at least one if not two minis as solo work by that time and if not two minis then at least a second single. That said, there is no way the GOAT performance group will say their goodbyes without a farewell tour unless something goes heinously wrong so their last year will probably be pretty crazy and I think they'll look to outdo even their 4S/4C concerts.

I suspect Wheein is in a serious relationship and left RBW so she can better balance her relationship, solo and group work plus I wouldn't be surprised in 3 years, Wheein would disappeared to get married and start a family. But I might be wrong and it turns out that Wheein is signing with a Multinational Entertainment Company and it's goodbye Korea and farewell Solar and Moonbyul but Dua Lipa and Rhianna is my bff now but Hwasa will always be family.

Maybe no company at all. She could go independent, she has tons of contacts and half the damn country wants her for OSTs and collabs. Technically if she's not under RBW anyone who wants to work with her could contact her directly and she doesn't have to split profit, most people who she worked with in the past have their own studio so she doesn't need to use RBW's. Imagine she becomes a collab monster and appears on songs from other artists who are known for doing collabs like Heize, Jessi, shit get her and Hyuna to make a song together that would be sick. At this point maybe she should just joined PNation lol. But yeah I think Mamamoo will go out with a bang, contracts up in december 2023, they will probably have a final album and concerts around fall, and an epic year end MAMA award performance for the ages.

@@charred6683 Wheein is already a collab monster, pretty sure she had the most featuring out of any female vocalist in a 3rd gen GG. RBW let MMM work with whoever they want as a solo but obviously there is a huge difference in profit sharing without going through an agency.

@@gantz313 Eh, RBW has never implemented a dating policy for them ever, even as rookies. I don't think they'd ever make her choose, frankly. I also don't think her fanbase, which is like 96% female (and no serious part can actually be under the delusion she's gay beyond doing it for the memes), would scare her or RBW on this matter either. If she's quiet about a relationship it's because she's quiet in general. Wheein's very indie, very different and while RBW certainly has a bit of that indie charm left in some fashion, it probably just wasn't compatible with Wheein anymore as far as solo work was concerned. But who knows, we'll probably never find out and frankly that likely means it wasn't any big "thing".

  • @gantz313

@@el_kabong I think Wheein is dating someone in the music industry and she doesn't want to end up like those couples who broke up because they were too busy to spend time with each other, leaving RBW and becoming an independent artist would mean better control and hopefully better work and live balance. I absolutely agree with you about Wheein's being very indie, she strikes me as the someone who dreamed about being a singer but doesn't really want to be an idol, she wants to be recognized for her talents and singing ability but she doesn't want to be a celebrity. There's definitely a difference in musical compatibility between RBW and Wheein in regards to her solo work but based on Redd, it seems RBW let her worked with other producers outside the company as well as trying different genres. There's a YT video of Wheein with Park Woo Sang (RBW) discussing Redd and supposedly she wanted a different title track made by an overseas songwriter or producer but it was too expensive, maybe that's a deal breaker for her?

@@ally8139 YET. Trolls attack EVERY group somehow. Some groups are attacked from literally EVERY angle but turn out to be absolute GEMS that are better than any of the other groups that do not get attacked nearly so much. Aespa are constantly attacked for their 'lack of stage presence' (something that I do not agree with fully; they are always being compared/ contrasted with the big veteran groups, instead of comparing with groups of their same age or experience; that is patently unfair of the goddamned trolls), which is really the ONLY thing that has kept them from being global super-stars this early in their careers. But they are improving constantly, just like any other PROFESSIONAL ENTERTAINMENT group. Give them time. All the trolls should know by now that Aespa is a great group with great members; just shut up, sit back and ENJOY the entertainment while you have it, instead of trying to give the performers anxiety complexes. The entertainment is better if the stars are comfortable and confident. 'A happy worker is a good worker'. How do the trolls not understand that part? You don't see these trolls up on stage themselves because either they have no real promotable abilities that would shine in entertainment (as they seem to fully expect of others) or because they are all made of negativity so nobody wants to be around them at all, nobody can stand them. Nobody would hire them even if they had some shred of talent or skill. Consumers don't want negativity as entertainment, otherwise the stupid 'dark humor' comedians would be bigger. That should be the trolls' first clue but they must be too dumb to get it.

Though she doesn't normally go for it, she also has some really good ballad solos, so I find it really sad that RBW didn't give her more lines, especially considering the meaning of the song and album

It's here!! 😭Also raffi's point about wheesa's harmonisation at the end is spot on. They did have the same dream being childhood friends. It was beautiful especially where he says something along the line where both of them are bound by same dreams but are also different from each other.

I am coming back here after crying for this comeback for an entire year. After the news, I remember how crushed I was knowing that there may be an end to Mamamoo. I was bawling for months, heck a year even. But now, I am hopeful for the future that awaits the girls. WAWN really tugged my heart's core so I feel your reaction.

Thanks for pointing out some of the subtle details of the arrangement and how the music and vocals convey the message of the lyrics. As always, the way they sequence and harmonize the members and their choices of vocal techniques, phrasing and dynamics are spectacular. At this point they're so refined and transcendent they seem like elemental forces of nature. It occurred to me that Hwasa, Wheein and Solar start the song as though they're the musical embodiment of Earth, Wind and Fire. This is as good as pop music can be and I'm fairly certain Mamamoo doesn't take their group alchemy for granted. I doubt they'll ever officially disband.

Moomoos know just how meaningful this song is for the group and the fandom as we know how hard the slow climb, the struggle of Mamamoo not only because they came from a small company but also of their striking difference as compared to other kpop girl group. We know how they hopped almost all university festivals during their first years, how they were discriminated before debut, how they debuted with only a few persons as audience, etc. Finally, Moomoos know how appreciative of their fans Mamamoo is. This is a song not only for the girls, but also for their fans.

umu is me when i first heard where are we now and became the guacamole after listening to the whole album. sure there's a lot of great vocalists out there, i do listen to them as well, but the thing mamamoo does to make it so connected can never be the same from other groups. it's not too much nor does it lack, it's the perfect blend. it doesn't compete with one another but it completes the whole story they make through vocals. i really love how raffi explained the vocal exchange bc i thought i was just reading too much into it. and i hold on unto solar's plan of mamamoo for ten years in which wheein said solar will be 40 by then

The beauty of having Wheein and Hwa Sa harmonize thise lyrics when we all know they fought for this dream together. Went to school together in a small town/village and went to the big city, Seoul, to make it. There is a rumor that Wheein told HwaSa she wouldn’t continue without her. HwaSa was being criticized for her looks/weight at auditions so this song really was a beautiful story of friendship.

Another hit, y'all! Seriously, I felt for you when you talked about it being scary to enter cold with a solo. The horn is probably the scariest instrument on which to come in cold with a solo. I've heard some great players crack a note. And a cold, unaccompanied vocal solo ain't easy either. I just watched a video about Mamamoo laughing and singing in their dressing rooms at live shows, including recordings from the dressing rooms next to theirs. It was hilarious. These ladies never stop singing and having fun. That's probably why they nail both recorded and liver performances.

Have anyone realized the last two lines that harmonizingly sung by HWASA-WHEEIN is actually the true story of their friendship? "The two of us had the same dream are here".. i always end the song with tears, and repeat. TT Imagining how the two grown up ladies were the two teenagers with the same dream of sharing stage together, touring, performing, but life is about choices. Different company doesn't mean it's the end of their stories.. :''')
