Wow Wendy got a comparison to Beyonce and Whitney Houston in this reaction. That’s powerful.

Wendy really sounds more like a "musician" than a "vocalist", it seems to me she clearly understand her instrument (voice) and how and when to use it. I feel like she has her toolkit of options and almost always knows how to bring the right "tone" to what the music she is interpreting needs. There's a big difference with the way you play certain beats (a jazz to a funk groove, for example) and she seems to approach her musicality in a similar way. It always impresses me how she can navigate through so many kinds of emotions (in this album alone from soothing in Like Water to angst in When the Rain Stops, from melancholy in The Road to playfulness in Why can't You Love Me)and her work in Red Velvet shows brightness (Butterfly) and even some sadness in Last Love. She may always have been talented, but this level is only achieved with pure hard work. It's inspiring.

Easy is right. I don't know how else to put it, some singers sound like singing is as natural to them as speaking and when singing seems that natural for them, I don't know, it is just so beautiful to me. Whenever I call someone's singing easy, to me that is a great complement to their artistry and a testament of their hardwork.

The live band performance seriously sounds like a studio recording, that's how incredible her voice is 💕

One of my favorite things about “like water” is that it kind of emulates the element physically. Her voice tone plays a big part of it, but those fluctuations and push and pulls with dynamics make it seems so unpredictable like a river flow, but it’s still so connected and smooth. I love how it connects with the lyrics too. At one part of the song she sings something along the lines of “being the water to fill your sore spots” and her phrasing kind of makes the song emulate a stream or a creek (I don’t know if I’m making sense). But her phrasing and note changes that will go up and down feel like the unevenness of rocks in a riverbed that are being filled with space by water. Like you know when you hear a creek or a stream and it’s not an even sound because there are different depths that the water is flowing through? That’s what I’m kind of getting from it. I might be overanalyzing this tho lol. Her voice just feels so “go with the flow” vibe. Wendy’s really amazing.

Wendy has one of the most beautiful voices I've ever heard. It's crisp and pure, yet warm and full. Her control when singing live is utterly astounding. She is just effortlessly talented. 2020 didn't feel right to a lot of people for a lot of reasons, but for me Wendy being hurt and on hiatus was really high on the list. So glad her amazing voice is back making new music.

“i’m excited to hear more from her” they NEED to listen to the whole EP...it’s truly a magical experience and i really hope everyone gets to experience it. her voice is like a warm hug when you need it the most and it’s so rare for an artist to have a voice that gives you both feelings and an experience and i think with her you get the whole package. i’m so glad she was given a solo album

“There’s quite a difference between a singer like a vocalist and a recording artist. Cause not everybody can sing live what they recorded in the studio.” I HAVE NEVER HEARD ANYTHING TRUER!!!!!

The way that they said it’s “easy” is really accurate actually. Wendy sounds so incredible yet effortless. And what I notice is that she sings with such ease that it’s like singing is second nature to her and you can tell by the way she sings. Love the editing btw 💙 thanks for this video!

For some reason, Wendy coming back to the public/work seems more meaningful in a solo debut vs with Red Velvet comeback. I mean I would've been happy either way but it seems more personal after all Wendy has been through, which kind of makes me emotional haha.

I used to think that Wendy wasn't as powerful as the other main vocal in SM girlgroup (Taeyeon and Luna) but then i realized, there's not many girlgroup covering RV's song and if there's one, you can clearly see how it takes so much efforts, some even struggling to sang their song, especially when it reach Wendy's part. And then it hit me, Wendy sang it so easy, like literally so easy, with the whole dancing sequence and the constant smile on her face while singing. She knew her voice, her technic, her range, she master her voice to the point it's as easy as breathing for her.

I'm gonna be controversial, but she IS the greatest 3rd gen vocalist. not out of the BIg 3, but out of ALL OF THEM.

K-Pop fans aren't familiar with this kind of song. That's why Wendy's song is rated under the other K-Pop singer songs. They don't realize how good Wendy is. I'm a little bit sad.

I wonder if they would react the same to When This Rain Stops because of all the high notes. Like Water really describes the ease in her voice. Wendy is THE best vocalist of kpop btw.

"Easy, it doesn't even sounds like she's trying," "Her natural voice has such a richness and natural vibrato to it," "Her technique is what makes it really beautiful, because all registers of her voice are well-connected," "It's not artificial and just pure her," "She really treated and mastered her voice like an instrument, because she's sound the same-if it's not better-than the recorded version."
