I think you are more disciplined with this channel. Just like a stoic does his work without giving a thought. Every time you post a video, I wonder how this man is so disciplined. You stick with usual formats and deliver core messages consistently. I have seen many youtubers from past 4 to 5 years. Most of them have just lost the spark. All are swayed away with trends. But you stuck with your niche and you are able to do it for this long is just amazing. I think you don't care about external validation which comes as likes, comments and subscribers. You do what you do without being affected by these little messy metrics. To be like this requires a hell of discipline. Really awesome man. More than these videos, you reminds me of your discipline. To produce this sort of summaries needs lots of work which goes behind these videos. Your discipline is tremendous. Thank you.

Jocko's idea of "ultimate ownership" is _very much_ the same as the ultimate responsibility the Buddha saw as a precondition. He went as far as saying that you should take responsibility for things in your past lives, even if you can't remember them

Beware of burnout. The voice in your head isn't always weakness. Rather than responding to that voice with berserker mode anger, perhaps respond to it with the kindness of a parent towards a child. Call it out when it's bluffing, but give it loving kindness if it's not. I think the "not today" method is good for discerning when it's a bluff. However, "not today" may be a bit extreme, perhaps try "give it a shot for 30 mins first". It's not as catchy, but it's better than spending a whole day pushing yourself towards a hospital bed.

Note: Jocko Willink says, “Discipline equals freedom”. What does this mean? If I am not free, it implies bondage to conditions, movements curtailed, and suffering a limitation to my opportunities. | Why would I have opportunities if my knowledge is not in preparation for those opportunities? | Why would I have movements if I an unprepared to make those movements? Discipline is not immediately equal to freedom but is an essential precursor and building block to it because freedom is a lagging indicator. Earn freedom to get freedom. Lack of discipline accumulates debt (in the form of regret) and discipline accumulates equity (in the form of earned freedom, skill and personal power) - accumulation implies time.

4:26 Yeah, i realized it was SOOOOO much better to stick with my plan by just doing it and not even stopping to register anything. Any time i would context switch, even if is to something as little as marking an X, my concentration would get a hit and would become incrementally worse throughout the day. I felt i had much more iniciative and courage by simply turning off my brain from anything besides what i needed to do right now. It's bizarre the negative effects screens has on us today, it's like they make us disconnected from the real world and ourselves. The only bad thing with not stopping to check it's that i constantly forgot what i needed to do, i'm not at a chess grandmaster level where i can remember and juggle hundreds of ideas at the same once unfortunately. But if they do it, this at least show it's possible. I should say that when i had a laptop taking action was more easy, but i constantly procrastinated more with long term stuff like dreams we put for later and distrated myself with "being busy" calling that "productive".

6:56 HOLY SHIT, i beginner would be fucked trying to do this!!! Especially if they never trained, or even worse, (for some sick reason) hates to train. A much better alternative is simply going to the gym and doing some dumbbell or barbell stuff, or kettlebell, there's SO MUCH to do, you will like something. Your goals and what you like will give you a multitude of options and combinations. If you insist in bodyweight and wants something easy, that you can get done with it quick, you can do like i did during covid. Do a Upper/Lower Split, or a 3 day split - if you can train your back - and do a simplified version of those exercises, like Knee Push up with a variety of grips (this already can give you a long workout), Knee Dips, Ab exercises, some Back contraction. And for legs, simple Squat, Split Squats, Cossack Squat (aka Goku Squats), Hip Thrusts etc. Do short reps and sets (3x3), if you're not used to those exercises, if you want more Volume you can increase the Sets but maintain the reps to maintain the quality, but i would recommend 1 more rep per Workout and 1 more set per week (anyway, just read Greg Nuckols and Omar's book). Of course, it depends on who you are and what hypes you, and during a time i was OBSESSED with Calisthenics but for beginners this FUCKING SUCKS, the amount of body control those full body exercises ask from you are absurd, they also need an absurd amount of Volume to progress which can lead to long repetitive boring training, and you will make more fat than muscle cause it's hard to hurt your muscles while you're learning the technique. You will get fatter not muscular. I get doing that and trying to maximize the fun out of it (like Gamers do) if you have no other option but Barbell, dumbbell and even kettlebell will give much more with less effort, you will not need to extensively read about bodyweight training, have to learn obtuse exercises and splits to get challenge since weights are much more straightfoward, you will have more pleasure and a freer mind to focus on something else.

I disagree with the workout in the morning hypothesis. I am always more tired after a morning workout because I'm exerting myself before I'm fully awake, and then I have less energy to expend on my tasks throughout the day. If you aren't tired, you aren't working out hard enough. I do much better at the gym in the afternoon, or at night after my work is done.

3:57 Love the phrase and the video overall but "no plan survives contact with the enemy". There will be challenges and interruptions you can't foresee no matter the amount of preparation, if you don't account for those sudden heavy blows you weren't skeptic (not pessimist) and realistic enough. I've heard that if you create a building that is too rigid it will crack and fall apart. Whether this is true or not (i'm not a building expert) what remains facts it's that things will not pan out as you expect, life is not chess it's gamble, and you absolutely need flexibility.

The core message is well done. And makes a lot of sense. However, I would argue there are a couple major flaws in the Wilink mentality. The hustle until you're not tired anymore is not only a bad idea, but potentially much more consequential for long term success. If you want to feel energetic, joyful, and strong, that's great but you need breaks. At least every 90 days you need to seriously consider taking a few days or even a week off of ALL major work. Something to chew on.

Well, first, he's writing from a privileged perspective. What about people whose mornings are encumbered -- by getting to work, by caring for kids, etc.? Second, people who get up at 4:30 AM by definition are in bed by 9:00 PM. Who's packing tomorrow's lunches, getting a little post-dinner work (or housework) done? What about someone who wants just an hour for themselves after the kids go to bed? This is the old "just the cost of a cup of coffee" argument, which falls flat for people who are already bringing coffee from home because they can't afford to buy it en route. Something tells me this guy isn't cooking his own meals or washing his own shorts...
