The inconsistency in Gugudan was actually intentional, their whole concept was based on a theatrical one and their name group name sounds similar to the Korean word "guek-dan" which means "theatrical company", so each comeback is the girls portraying a story and each release/album are known as "acts". The first act was with Wonderland which portrayed the Little Mermaid, the second release with A Girl Like Me is supposed to be the story of Narcissus, Boots is the story of Puss in Boots, and so on so forth. Their level of versatility and how each member owned each concept is why I loved Gugudan, however, JellyFish only saw Mina and Sejeong as the only profitable members due to their IOI clout and gave them the most promotions which was a reason that eventually led the group to their downfall. They had so much potential :(

CLC felt like a filler group for the company. Something to fill the gap between 4Minute's disbandment and (G)Idle's debute. I think Cube never had a real concept and goal for them except for a quick chase grap. And justice for MADTOWN😭. I really loved thier music. They were so ahead of their time in the music industry.

the fact that Sowon (GFRIEND’s Leader) said that she’d only found out about their disbandment from a news article and the members were just suddenly told the group was over after asking about it, says all it needs to say about how they were basically just back doored & disposed. it makes me so angry because MAGO had JUST became their biggest hit and they were already solidified with years in the industry under their belts as an extremely consistent and talented group. why would you kill an already successful group at the newest height of their career just to debut another?

My guess is it's money. As successful as GFriend was, most likely the members asked for more money during their contract negotiations than Source was offering (which makes sense since GFriend was one of the top girl groups). Source didn't want to offer more because they wanted to put their resources into Le SSerafim. I also think that there were some disagreement between Source and the members over creating and promoting individual members projects.

But honestly I find it suspicious because gfriend contract hadn’t experienced yet and still had a couple months left in 2021 and suddenly they announced they disbanded and what’s suspicious is why a couple months ahead of their contract who still had some months left and I remember that it said that their contract expires in nov 2021 ( I might be wrong and read information about it mostly the video I saw)

They were tanking in Korea , sales, charts and streams weren’t what they used to be for the past 3 comebacks. They were in steady decline so not sure what new heights you are referring to.

@@diannaa.62 their lowest selling korean project was in 2017 w/ Rainbow and that was a repackage EP. but even with that, every single korean project they’ve released has peaked at #3 or higher on the korean charts since 2016 and sold upwards of 60-90k. they had a stable fanbase and a very stable career that would’ve easily remained stable. what "decline" are you on about?

The thing that makes me the most sad about CLC is that while they weren't extremely known in Korea, they had quite a solid fanbase internationally. Groups like Dreamcatcher and Kard have managed to survive while focusing on their international fanbase, Cube could have easily done the same. If CLC had a small world tour, it would have sold out most definitely. Much smaller groups have achieved this, why wouldn't CLC? But nahh, Cube didn't care enough.

When I think of a disbanded groupe with wastet pontetial then I think automatically at B.A.P. They had so much success in their rookie years, but their company messed them up and not only them. The other groups in the company (Secret, Sonamoo, TRCNG and Untouchable) too.

Gfriend and Pristin is the two groups that to this day, still leaves me with so many question marks.

Cube screwed over with 4Minute by only focussing on Hyuna, Cube screwed over with CLC and they most likely will do it again with Lightsum since Soyeon is managing her own group. Gugudan's disbandment was NOT needed. Jellyfish has shown that they can't manage more than one group, they're kinda becoming what BigHit was with Glam. And now VIXX is on life support, as the company did nothing to protect the group when they lost 2 members. Especially the situation with Hongbin...

Thank you for including GWSN, i started listening to them a week ago and their discography is amazing

I actually much preferred the non-Hobgoblin CLC material, like Me, No, and To the Sky. Would have been nice to see some more touring, though. Think it’s fairly obvious with what happened to GFRIEND. HYBE moved laterally with a higher ceiling (ex-IZ*ONE members in Le Sserafim) and younger with upside (NewJeans). Think of it as a similar (but not quite as overt) dynamic as 2NE1 to Blackpink. The kpop biz can be just so unfair. Had they been in a non-big 4 company, they almost certainly would have been re-upped, though. The album sales weren't huge, but they had multiple, huge hits under their belt. They deserved another run as (imo) one of the greatest kpop groups of all-time. I'd throw Berry Good in there. I mean have people heard the last 40 secs of Angel, to say nothing of the debut bop Love Letter.

Some I would like to add are Bling Bling, Bugaboo, LunarSolar and Hot Issue. The reason being it seems they all disbanded under the exact same circumstances. They each got to have 1 comeback song and then were promptly abandoned by their companies. I guess it could probably be due to the pandemic, coming from small companies so they didn’t see profit in these groups and ultimately had to cut them. But it was such a shame because each had some really good songs, especially Hot Issue imo, and it’s such a shame they had to disband before they even really got a chance. Hot Issue is why I’m so paranoid about Kiss Of Life. They’re so promising but with what that company did to Hot Issue I’m… not getting my hopes too high

Thank you for including Hot Issue in your comment! I totally agree! S2 ent did not manage them properly and they disbanded a few days before their first anniversary :(. The moment I found out Kiss of Life are under S2, I immediately became skeptical about it. Although, seeing how well the group is doing, as well as being recognised by the international audience, I think this time S2 might actually not do something shady. But I am still disappointed in the agency for not taking care of Hot Issue. I became a fan after their debut and i was in a shock when i found out that they would no longer promote together. What a wasted potential!

I feel like I would've been less upset at Gfriend's disbandment if the company handled it better, because 4 days notice and canceled activities is not the way to go.

​@dearyoongi at least they had 3 comebacks in their last year. Not too many groups can say this, and they said good-bye with Mago that ended up being quite popular. The saddest part was that everything was so sudden, they were even preparing for their next album.

About MADTOWN, I only remember “OMGT” (that song was so unserious and fun) and “Emptiness”. It’s always sad when talented groups go to waste…ex: BAP😢 Thanks for the video✌🏻

I will never be over how badly ts messed up bap, they were in a position to completely break in and take over the western market and a lot of 2015 armys were originally babyz who moved on during the hiatus. It’s definitely annoying now tho seeing how they’re forgotten when talking about groups who helped break into the west, and a lot of armys who will deny that the bap hiatus helped bts breakthrough

GWSN makes me so sad and angry. I own every album.

I love and miss CLC (which the members have said they haven't officially disbanded yet but I'm not sure I believe it honestly), gugudan, x1 (especially since my up10tion boy wooseok was in it and I was hoping that would bring new fans to support up10tion too since they're so underrated), madtown (though I am glad jota isn't having to pay for everything for the group anymore), and most of all I miss GFriend so much

The one I'm the most angry about is GFriend tbh. I hope they get back together one day.

I thought I was the only was very skeptic every time Rain debuts a boy group...he did mblaq so dirty I don't trust him with anyone but himself.

I have to include Hinapia and Bugaboo to this list. Hinapia's disbandment is particularly devastating because the group have 4 members from Pristin. Going through disbandment once is very sad, but going through it twice must've felt awful.

A group I would've added to part one is UNIQ Seung-youn/ Woodz from X1 is one of the main rappers as well as Wang Yibo who became popular from the Chinese Drama The Untamed. they're from Yuehua entertainment. they debuted in 2014 but haven't been active as group since 2018. They had enough potential to do soundtracks for the Korean and Chinese releases TMNT, Penguins of Madagascar, and the SpongeBob Movie.The other two Chinese members went on to join survival shows in China. the other Korean member went into acting but hasn't been in anything since his discharge from his military service. A lot of people think they've disbanded but there's no official announcement about it.

I found BugABoo not long ago and found out they disbanded, their songs were so awesome, they only lasted like a year.

Momoland disbandment is quite sad too. They had so much potential if only the company new how to handle it.

Omg I remember that short time where it really looked like HISTORY were going to take up because a few of their songs were getting spoken about a lot, and then nothing :(

I still have finished the video but if speed isn't here( i know you are also an older fan), i would say sleed because that group had so much potential( and boyfriend before they came back, like people ignore how starship treated them because they started mx better after they gained popularity and this no shade to mx because they are my ults

luckily some members of gfriend redebuted as a trio and seem to be doing pretty well. rough by gfriend is still one of the best kpop songs out there with some of the best choreo. also gwsn’s miya is having her solo debut this month. looking forward to it!

I definitely think f(x) deserves to be on this list (even though they’ve never *officially* disbanded)

SPICA and Stellar are painfully missing from this group.

Rain is a menace and him and the shinwha member who manage Top media shouldn't be allowed to debut any new groups. They always find a way to waste the potentials of their groups.

Woodz is my favourite korean artist so musically I’m not sad for X1’s disbandment but oh boy, is that one a sad story. Some of them had already been through a lot, some were very young. I can’t imagine how hard it must be to see your dream come true only to have it shattered like that.

There are just too many, but for me the biggest losses are two great 2nd generation groups, Kiss&Cry and SPICA. Kiss&Cry basically had one original song and one cover and then they disappeared; SPICA had what seemed like a solid career for a while and then they disappeared as well, at least as a group. Their story is the same as all the others, no matter which generation we are talking about - incompetent companies, either financially or with no idea how to maintain a group on the level it had achieved. Or, of course, both.

Pledis is horrible with their groups (other than once svt hit it big).... Pristin really deserved better...... If you do a part 2 can you mention Nu'est? Face was the most watched mvs for years, but the sudden concept change with Hello and Sleep Talking lost them fans, they then got shipped to Japan with no manager for a while, released 2 Korean eps, gained popularity from produce but after 3 years of good promotions, they got dropped again. Multiple people reached out to Pledis for guesting opportunities, but Pledis never responded. Then comebacks slowed, and the Hybe acquisition, and then the random disbandment THE DAY BEFORE their 10th anniversary!!! (not to mention the disbandment buses.....)

I love ur vids. Very informative and thought out. U actually do ur homework and present it so well. No more Allkpop though haha that place is not a good source for information

IOI disbanded because it's a project group not permanent like Pristin and gugudan, and they finished their contract unlike X1 who had 5 year but only promoted for 5 months

All of these are really true but I think iz one should be added

X1 disband was well deserved ngl. The whole produce was a mess of fraud and corruption and letting the group continue only gives agency to that corruption regardless of how many "fans" feelings get hurt.

As much as I wanted to listen to the video I couldn’t with the voice
