We really gotta stop calling CGI models that have no minds of their own AI 😭 There are still real people behind these groups that sing and dance (for motion tracking) there is an animation team and people who come up with concepts and outfits and much more. It's not like they're taking humans jobs when they need humans to even create these animated groups. This is not an attack on you btw since u mentioned this but i still feel like theres lots of work done behind these virtual groups by real people. To me this seems like an art form that is seperate from real idols and not a replacement

my concern with AI is the fake rumors fans/haters will be able to make, like the fake pictures and dating rumors with Taehyung and jennie, even though those pictures and video were really poorly made but still, that's one of the biggest concerns I have AI

Kpop is never about the fans, it's all about the trends, which means more attraction, which = money. So if AI is in the trend, they will flock it, good or bad. If tomorrow PINK PIGS are a trend, they will latch onto that as well.

I hope that kpop dont become a TON of ai groups because then i dont think ill be interested anymore, i may be wrong but i think i may still casually listen to it but i dont think ill actively be a fan

yeah their company was (from what i know though pls dont quote me haha) a visual effects specialist company and their models are tracked in video game and animation software; the cartoony look is because a popular webtoon illustrator did their character designs :) so basically very human labour went into making them! the members also have a lot of say in the group's direction as they're basically the "idol" side of the company. vlast is a pretty tactical though, a while back they did a demographic survey on the fancafe, stuff like "as a plave fan, are u interested in anime, webtoons, vtubers, etc.?" as someone who's interested in the business and marketing side of things it's actually super interesting to see how they're leveraging different audience interests and building a solid fanbase with their experimental concept :)

Really interesting video with some scary connotations. With enough computing power, we could end up with personalised K-pop groups down to an individual level, designed to appeal to you personally, and who could interact with you personally (see the 2013 film "Her" with Joaquin Phoenix and Scarlett Johansson) whenever you liked. The amount you could charge for that level of customisation and personalisation would be ridiculous, and there are already AI models on Onlyfans for example so that's not far off. But the impact on society of that sort of thing could be extremely negative, particularly without adequate oversight given that AI systems are often black boxes who don't necessarily learn what we think we've taught them, and that can come up with bizarre or dangerous results. We've already had crimes committed by people on the say-so of their AI girlfriends... My biggest concern in the short term is that we'll see targeted deepfakes designed to wreck a particular idol - sadly there is very little that can be done to effectively and completely remove any of this sort of content from the internet and particularly the dark web. Plus there's a lot of money involved, and so morality tends to go out of the window.

i couldn’t ever stan these virtual groups. i need the real human interaction you get when you see them in concert in person whether it be the emotion behind their singing or audience interactions. it would just feel so hollow seeing a hologram or something live. also it’s impressive when an actual human can sing, dance, rap and do everything all at once but with a virtual group it’s to be expected because you can program and design them to do anything. it’s just not impressive to me. maybe to a super tech fan it would be

I love you but you are not understanding this 😭 With aespe it's a concept that the ae-aespa are created with AI tools. That's part of their concept if you actually watch the episodes the have of their series you'll understand 😭😭 their are actual people who created the ae's like designed them. In their lore ae are created from their online personalities (AI is supposed to make an ae for them based on their online personalities) but that's not the case in real life 😅

Don't worry I completely understand this!💖 The section in the video talking about the confusion between 'AI' and 'virtual' ideas and how virtual idols were usually just created with AI tools rather than being 'AI' (Aespa being a major example of that)

THANK GOD YOU DID NOT JUST BLAB ABOUT PLAVE BEING AI!! as a vtuber fan for about 3 years now PLAVE ARE JUST VTUBERS! i havent seen any people that dont like (non plave) vtubers call them AI but suddenly when a vtuber idol group in kpop blows up everyone calls AI?? its so frustrating!!!!!!!!!!! even vtuber haters who usually have terrible takes can understand for the most part that those are people 16:38 also for a note, you got the voca part right but loid is..idk how to explain it you can find the pronounciation on youtube 😭think about the "droid" in "android" but saying loid instead but yes! crypton, her company and creators have been putting on concerts for her early on in her history as well as lots of other voicebanks from other companies and softwares, though the most talked about often ones are with the ones that they do also fun fact about vocaloid concerts, the penlights you probably saw in the videos arent just for fun chanting! they actually help the projection look as best as it can with the lights from them! its why you should only use the official ones they sell, because off brand ones dont work/not as well
