The reason it caught my attention is because you slowed down the footage there and I always look for the small details in videos. I try to see if I can recognize a particular brand and model of parts I see on bikes that I like. I could definitely use a stem like that. I am always having trouble with stems slipping and loose handlebars. I currently have a SE Narler stem with an Origin 8 quill adapter on my 2022 Skyway T/A frame and threaded fork set I purchased from Australia. It seems to be working alright but I would rather have an old school quill stem like it should have. That one in your video would really fit the bill. Love all your videos brother. They give me tons of inspiration to restore and work on my bikes. Currently I am working on a '87 Mongoose Decade and a '87 Hutch Exel. Hope to finish them up soon so I can find a new project bike to build. Thanks for the inspiration and knowledge.

That's rad... if they were using a Commodore 64 to sign people in the Internet would have exploded. I think that style of racing is way more exciting to watch than whatever they are doing today (and safer) and those first gen bikes are beautiful. Just think, in the early 80's every kid who had a bike would have been there begging to get on that track. I talked to them about how to get on the track in Ventura but you needed so much expensive protective gear and I just wanted to cruise the track on my fully show chromed and restored Motomag, the place went out of business. It can't be too expensive or not enough kids/families can afford it! I built my BMX from parts around 1980 and I still have it! The world needs more of this positive 80's energy right now. Speaking of 80's... looking back, we moved back to California in 1985 from central IL and in Ventura in 1985 BMX was already out of fashion and everyone was into surfing and skating, mostly skating (boarding), almost nobody was riding BMX then... I mean I rode my BMX until orientation day of freshman year in high school, but it wasn't like back in Illinois in terms of BMX... for me BMX pretty much stopped in 1985. I never hear this talked about, the huge difference between pre-85 and post 85 BMX. Some Ventura kids had some expensive bikes, I think I only saw 1 PK in all of Ventura (ever) and 1 GT. In my tiny farm town outside of Springfield in IL there were at least 5 PKs and one kid rode for SE and had a whole truck load of SE bikes.

  • @VenturaIT

    Жыл бұрын

@@RadBMXBuilds I was born in Orange, but in Ventura post 85, only 1 kid had a PK Ripper that I knew of and it was a garage queen. My little farm town in IL had 1,200 people and 1 SE Racing rider with a truck load of SE bikes and other kids had about 5 or so PK Rippers... my friend in IL had this awesome Torker with thinner tires. I built up my Mongoose Motomag frame myself from race parts. Ventura was just more of a surf and skate city I guess. I mean, people had BMX bikes all along but I never saw a bunch of kids jumping them or riding them pre 1990's. There was this huge half pipe that a new kid had and was doing crazy stuff on in the 1990s, but that's about it.

Dude! What is up with the stem on that bike at 11:29? It is monstrous! Is that a custom stem or a production item or is it the angle of the camera making it look like that. Also I have never seen a rear wheel setup like that. Looks like it has some kind of spring setup on it. Great video. Love all those vintage BMX bikes being raced. Awesome.
