I'm from UK. Small town in the south. Eddie is such an absolute legend that we named those "U" shaped rear frame standers that he used to use "Eddies Handles". Revolutionary at the time but ultimately not as good as a simple pair of pegs! Still a living legend, and a still to this day an amazingly friendly, chatty and totally decent dude.

I met Eddie at the Rad Hell track in Texas a few years ago. Great guy! When they tell you “don’t meet your heroes”, they couldn’t be more wrong. Eddie was down to earth and will take the time to talk to you and take pictures. Super cool guy. Felt like I was kid back in 1986 meeting my heroes.

I met him in 1984 when he rode for GT. They did a demo and I was hooked. I had my Hutch pro raider at the time. So cool to see him still ripping!

When I grew up and took all the magazine pages off my bedroom wall, they all went into a folder. Somehow I still have them all. Maybe I should do a wall in my man cave! I miss the late 80s and early 90s. Thanks for the memories!

Love reflecting on the 80’s. I remember jumping in my bike and riding all day with my friends. My parents never worried but they never had a clue where I was. Those were the good days. Finding a ditch to jump or a ramp to ride. Great memories!

I have always thought the newer bikes had way better geometry, and road so much nicer than everything in the past, but hearing this from a legend that used to ride the old school bikes, solidifies my outlook. Another banger 🤙🏻

So true, we would get on our bikes and just go... when we were thirsty we drank from a water bubbler or garden hose (yes in the summer the first mouth full was hot water) and when mom rang the bell we best be home fast for dinner and eat fast so we could go out again and then stay out till the street lights came on...

Great vid, keep em coming. I grew up in Chicago in the 80s, all we really had back then were the magazines to keep us updated. I remember going to the 7-11 almost every day to check if there was a new issue. We read every word, every ad, and no question Eddie was THE GUY, period. When our local bike shops didnt have the parts we wanted there was a good chance you could get one from advert in the mags. In fact, I bought my first gen Dyno Compe II via mail-order P.O.D. Good times, great memories, unadulterated fun. 15:29 - "then I got a car, girlfriend, and it all went to hell ..." funny but so true!

Hello Rad bmx builds, it would be good to see Eddie Fiola as a world ambassador for bmx and commissioned by countries to get folks back involved with a style of rideing that was more accessible to many whatever your skill level you still felt part of the scene the movement. You didn't have to do a triple somersault or clear thirty steps narrowly avoiding A,E to be cool. I've built bikes for forty plus years seen fashion an fads come an go an come around again. I like old school bmx or mid school two brakes seat height that's cruisable an of a level angle, glad to have been drawn back to bmx in fairly recent years just at a time when big names where building bikes, in example the EF former pro, only for mainstream companies do copy cat retros, it's all good I guess. I agree with Eddie acknowledging those who where the movement the founding fathers as it where should be Key in an industry where good ethics should be the mantle of any retro or return to a pre movement. Maybe Eddie an yourself an the Huntingdon beach crew could amass a project to put forward a return to the values of that era as its timeless, an it's up to us fans to talk up the merits. More than ever society is at a pivotal point an strong talented leaders or former professionals will be needed to guide communities an hold em together with a sound fabric. A question to you an Eddie when you next see him a conundrum if you will and perhaps a burgeoning market? I've known a few catch the bug of bmx again they buy a bike build it up at great cost old school stuff is very collected as you know then they don't use it for fear of damage an all that, so my return is to mid school, not so pricey less likely to cry if I crash it! i then I thought what about a contemporary bike, no brakes or perhaps one, pivotal seat thingy sloped top tube, can it be retro fitted an how bad would it look, in short can a contemporary bmx be converted old school, after sort of three attempts, Yes it can providing you get a larger frame like a we the people arcade, so a taller seat post doesn't look to gangly I'm running salt front an rear brake levers useing a bulldog front calliper through the reflector bolt hole which reaches ok as mid school forks where quite thick, I've done three such builds the best looking isn't the best rideing that goes to a Radio astrom rides great, but frame is very compact as in low seat tube. So doesn't look as great, So is there a market for the Eddie Fiola old school retro fit kit, with a guide to which contemporary bikes the kit would suit an work best with, all made in the USA you can never underestimate parts for bikes often earns more than a whole signature frame, an bike! If this is of any interest I can put forward the frames I've tried this on, I didn't realise that current frames still made nearly as large as old school till this project, next build a woods bmx for trials rideing down forest streams so brake lugged front forks an ubrakes sorta mid school. Great interview Eddies an inspiration in the truest sense.
