What’s your opinion on the geared BMX bikes that popped up in the Olympics recently? Twan Van Gendt used a 2-speed Shimano Zee derailleur-DXR crank- drivetrain, any thoughts on how useful or practical a geared setup would be in BMX racing these days?

Looking to get into racing. Gonna get a chase edge. I’m wondering what size any help would be appreciated. If I got a 20 in what determines what top tube length I should get?

Hey con you chose the chain fing and sprocket relation ? Or is standard ? What is the typical relation used in bmx race ? I use 25-9 in my street mtb.

Yea I’m the race world there’s a massive selection of gearing. 44/16 is the most average. Comes out to be about the same as a 25/9 on a 20”. Bigger chain rings in race bc it’s less stress on the chain since we sprint a lot more on them then a freestyle bike

Do you ever try changing gearing at the race? If you can just beat him to first turn, you got the race in the bag.

@@barrynobles95 I was racing expert in the 80s/90s. You guys seem to be pretty polite / considerate imho; I don't know if it is a function of everyone being clipped in. Looked like fair, aggressive racing to me. I just know back in the day we had elbows out and would stick a leg out in the berms to block other riders. It would get pretty rough out there...elbow to elbow. Riders would brake check you going into the berms. People would routinely get "pimped" or pushed up and off the berm.

why does this track look like it copies south park... haha jk. south park is the best track of all time... either lousiville, 2006 christams classic/presidents cup weekend in columbus or Akron.. i won 3 state champion chips at akron boi and every national main event both weekends every year we would get a nat at akron. the Huron OH Dome track was amazing before it collapsed. that was the closest track to me. ohio and just this area of the country had the best NBL tracks bar none. south park 06-10 dudes gettin life flighted everu other moto like old south park was GNARRRRRRRLY bro..... best track of all time . anyone remeber when elliot tried to jump the gate ? i think it was the first year of Random gate and he tried to hop it, crashed, got up still ogt 4th to transfer, Elliot was nasty
