Mark's brother David tries his hardest to sound like this.

I saw this tour at the amphitheatre in Costa Mesa and they just blew me way. I was always a fan of Mark and virtuoso guitar playing but he was on fire that night. Dire Straits was the best band of the 80s bar none.

Oh, my God!! What a fantastic recording. Out-of-this-world sound. I wish it was an album I could play. I would play it constantly!!

I saw Dire traits in Vancouver 1992. Undoubtedly the best show I've seen. EVER !!

La mia impressione è che ogni concerto dei Dire Straits sia memorabile. E' difficile poter dire questo e' buono e l'altro un po' meno. Quello che si nota in evidenza è prima di tutto la loro grandissima professionalità, ma anche la loro passione e il loro amore per il rock romantico. In un dvd affermano che ogni "singolo concerto ti arricchisce sempre più". Anche tra gli album ( solo sei, purtroppo) è compito arduo scegliere il migliore. Forse il primo è il più originale, mentre nell'ultimo si scorge un tentativo, in alcuni brani, di cambiare genere. La cosa sicura è che questo gruppo "si rimbocca doverosamente le maniche ogni volta". E fanno scintille in tutto il mondo.

This is the REAL Brothers In Arms album if you ask me! Granted, if you disagree with me there's nothing you can do about it. In fact I think you like it really :)

Terry kicked ass, I first had my little mind blown by his fine work on Sultans Of Swing from the Alchemy Live album, which I got when I was 6 years old right when it was released. I was a little pint-sized rock 'n roller and a big Dire Straits fan :)

I remember this being broadcast - I still can't believe this tour has never been officially documented, even on the most recently live box set! Awesome performances.

I don't think going to the gym was invented to be fun, it was invented so you can get huge and beat the fucking shit out of people so you can get laid. Dire Straits had better things to do with their lives. Nothing wrong with getting in shape and pumping up your giant muscles. But to the world around you, it is trivial drivel and serves ZERO purpose other than assaulting other human beings. Nobody ever created anything great, moving, and meaningful simply because they were huge and could assault people.

Thanks for uploading. Dire straits is one of my favorite musicians. They give me happiness from music.

God knows why Knopfler didn’t record a solo for So Far Away on the album it fits so perfectly here. I recorded this concert on VHS when it aired on C4 in the uk and wore it out re winding it 1000 times trying to learn all the guitar parts……..still trying at 50 years old.

My dad got a friend to record this. It jumped in the middle of Sultans. Used to play this alongside Alchemy every Sunday morning fantastic, cannot wait for the release. Wish they released this with the missing songs.

Exactly the same for me. VHS. I went on to practise night after night for ages the final solo on Tunnel of Love. Was blown away by that concert. A shame he couldn't have squeezed Telegraph Road into the show. The trifecta .

Mr magical fingers. NOBODY can finger pick a guitar like Mark knopfler. A COMPLETE ONE OFF. Eric Clapton. Is a great guitarist. But I'm afraid marks in a complete different league.. Tunnel of love .Outstanding. 👌

Just starting their peak. I was 8 years old watching this concert footage back in 1985 on our computer using what I didn't know at the time was one of Canada's very first residential high-speed Internet connections :)

52:08 Pure magic! I've heard Face to Face do it, I've even heard Blink-182 do it! But nobody captured the magic of great rock 'n roll quite like Dire Straits. Let's just call them special and unique and leave it at that for now :) The cool part is that it's STILL rock 'n roll. It ALL revolves around John's simple bass line.

Alchemy Live is even better than this, but the number 1 Live album has to be Made In Japan - Deep Purple. They played 3 concerts in Japan and recorded them all, then they took the best performances from each concert and compiled a double Live album. There is also a triple Live album called Live In Japan which has all 3 concerts on it.

Iron Maiden “Live After Death” has to be one of the best live double LP’s ever. I’ve seen Maiden a half dozen times and have always walked away more than satisfied. A few other great live LP’s, Thin Lizzy “Live and Dangerous” and Slayer “Decade of Aggression”. Black Sabbath “Live Evil” remastered.

And then saw then a few years back which didn't really come close. I don't really listen to them much these days because I over-listened to the old stuff and can't really get on with the newer stuff, but man I love that band so much!
