You hit the nail right on the head. "There is a very short list of singers that can actually make you FEEL their emotions." Kyo literally is one of the very few in the world that can do this. You might not understand at all his language, but you FEEL his despair, his rage, his hope, and his conviction. Literally one of the best vocalists in the metal and rock scene.

Kaoru solo is so simple but full of emotion.. damn

Mushi is one of my most favorite Dir en Grey songs and this is my favorite live performance of it. It's such a powerful song and I feel Kyo's heartbreak when he sings it. The last line "My own heart killed me" is one of the saddest and best lines Kyo has written in my opinion. Just... so emotional. I love this performance so much that I even made fanart of it.

The emotion Kyo conveys in this song is just incredible, you can really just feel him breaking and in turn he almost breaks you.

It's even harder when you're in front of the stage and he's literally crying. I've experienced it once and couldn't hold in.

This song never fails to make me cry. The title translates to “Insect”, which is a reference to how small and insignificant he feels when this was written. Makes it hit a lot harder.

@@zacharyjones9774 yep, I also looked up the literal translation, but then again Japanese is very hard to translate through Google! :) Mushi is a very dear song to me, same as the manga/anime so I just connected them in my mind.

Jon and Suzi‘s words at the end were so sweet. Dir en grey is a big emotional support for me and many other fans. I am not good at conveying my emotions and often just keep them inside.. but Kyo and Dir en grey give me a way out. Their concerts feel like therapy - everything gets out, sadness, anger, pain and afterwards you feel lighter and able to move on : )

Couldn't agree more to what you said about how much he's transporting emotions on stage. I've known DIR for 15+ years and 'Mushi', along with 'Zakuro' and 'Higeki wa mabuta wo oroshita yasashiki utsu' are songs which always make you cry. You should watch even older performances of Mushi... there were also times when Kyo hurt himself while perfoming 😞 After watching this you def have the urge to give Kyo-san a tight hug 😥

Imagine reacting to this song and not doing the legendary Blitz 5Days version. If you think this performance is heartbreaking, in that one Kyo breaks down crying, forgets the lyrics, and starts tearing chunks of skin from his wrist and screaming incoherently, not even into the mic, just pure emotion.

I read somewhere this song was about a friend of Kyo's dying, who was another musician. Like anything Kyo writes though, it comes across as abstract with a lot of Japanese word play, but that background would explain the emotional energy behind it

Oh, my first song of DEG in early 2005... made me a fan.

There's older stuff, more emotional when Kyo can barely sing and begin stabbing his heart with the mic when the final guitar solo starts. Kyo used to cut himself on the stage and use his own blood to cover his face and get very dramatical as a v-kei artist Finally u did this reaction! I was waiting for it when I saw you start digging and digging into Dir en Grey stuff

Yeah I remember when they toured with korn for the family values tour. He would stick his fingers into his mouth and rip up the inside of his cheeks and spit blood on himself. It was crazy seeing it live.

Mushi means insect, as you guys can see, the lyrics basically describe how someone (Kyo) felt when he was betrayed. *Kyo, once told a story about a girlfriend he had, he even said he already lived with her at his parents house. He even was willing to quit music for her. But, one day she disappeared, he looked for her, asked their friends about her, and no one would tell him where she was, or say what was happening, even when they knew it. Kyo started loosing a lot of weight. I don't remember how long after, he found out that she was okay. Actually better than okay. She was living with a "friend" of Kyo's; everyone knew about it, except him.*

@@makokoro9073 I know about this story . But ppl say it's a rumor ? . Glad she left . Why would he quit his passion for someone? ! Living without a passion is almost like living without a soul . He can still find love and someone who would love him for who he is . He was born to be an incredible musician . Even fate was against him leaving music. You know I saw a picture of him with a girl shopping at mall . It was from a popular Japanese gossip site related to visual kei . I don't trust everything they say . Some of them are obsessed, liars or stalkers.

@@koiyokan5194 well, as you can see, it was an interview, for a magazine and some areas were blackened. Anyone can speculate anything, like maybe he mentioned the name of the girl, the name of the "friend"/band mate that was messing up with the girl, or some other very personal info. I remember seen a clip of him, looking at washers for "midgets" but it was unexpected, because the clip was for something else and he happened to be there. I didn't know about the girl. I did read once when they did the tour with deftones that the guys of the other bands had asked them about their love lives and they had spilled the beans. 🤔 Supposedly Kyo was married with a kid back then, Kaoru married with a kid. Die, like always dating here and there. Toshiya dating, Shinya, I don't remember.

The songs become more personal because he was slowly able to open up. Theres some past things before dir en grey when his old band La Sadies broke up due to a really messed up member named kisaki (he was the bassist before kaoru and shinya introduced him to toshiya wh on is their bassist. Die is the distortion guitarist and kaoru is the acoustics guitarist. Shinya is the drummer. This was the begging of dir en grey.) taking his wife from him and leaving. Then she kept trying to get back to him and he refused and it was a troublesome time for him. Kisaki currently has been under investigation on pedophilia charges and predatory behavior as he’s been known to groom and do inappropriate things to young fans. After the incident and toshiya was introduced to the other members they dropped the La Sadies name and disbanded all relations to kisaki and began their new band. DIR EN GREY.
