Recently got CPP's PTK-4 kit with rear coil overs for my big block '72 A-Body. They have videos from a few years ago of builds they've done on Super Chevy and all their control arms came with Moog ball joints, well not anymore. I asked their "tech support" what brand ball joints came with their arms because they is no name on them, their answer was they use their own "in house made high quality" ball joints. I looked harder and they had part numbers stamped on them. Did a quick Google search, they're using China made Duralast ball joints from Auto Zone. I quickly replaced them with ProForged. It also had me questioning what brand bearings they sent with the front hubs, hubs also made in China, replaced those with National Bearing to be safe. I do not understand their "engineers" mindset of mounting the upper ball joint under the arm instead of on top the arm, but the instructions list that is the correct way. My only thought is this is their way of a long ball joint. I remember watching a video of them building an A-Body and had issues with the front wheel fitting, so they had to mount the ball joint from the top of the arm. My only real issue with CPP is their "engineers" using the same exact geometry on their control arms as OEM, and their cross shafts being extra thick. A-Body cars lack caster, CPP's arms do nothing to add caster and with their extra think cross shafts you cannot offset shimming to add caster. Every other branded control arms gives you 5-6° positive caster. Either with geometry improved control arms and/or with offset cross shafts. Factory arms with energy suspension bushings, you can dial in better alignment with +6° added caster. You cannot do this with CPP's arms. I know this because that is what I used to have, and am thinking about going back to my factory arms. CPP needs to redesign their arms, period!
