When I was 16 my parents grounded me and took the keys to my 1966 Chevy pickup. They were headed out of town the next weekend and left me with food in the fridge and I was told not to leave home. They left, I popped the plug off the ignition switch, and installed a paper clip between 'B' and 'I'. I took a second paper clip and touched 'S' to 'B' and had my wheels back. The only problem was my parents made a couple of stops before leaving town and I met them on the main drag in our small town. That cost me another month without the truck. :) RIP Mom and Dad.

This type of show - being self produced - is the future of classic car and truck restoration - really tired of Fast and Loud and the other shows that have 100k plus builds and playing to the camera, creating drama, building cars the average enthusiast could never afford. Hope you know how blessed you are to have your dad and he is able. My dad cant hardly walk now and he aint turning any wrenches. God bless u both.

My dad's 1963 Chevy C10 is sitting at his home. My father passed away and I feel like getting it back on the road. This was a motivating factor in getting the truck back on the road. Thanks Gentlemen.
Man, I didn't realise how fun it is to watch someone (else) work on a vehicle, and not even have to get skinned up knuckles on rusty bolts! hee hee... God Bless Guys!
In my opinion I LOVE the greenish 1965 c10 long-bed step-side pick up
This man just finished selling the truck and his sign & not even 2 minutes later he's offering more interesting things to sell. What a guy
That was smart. He knew the sign had sentimental value, but the truck didn't. Instead of offering $1500 for the truck and throw in the sign for free, he offered full price for sign and $1200 for the truck. Same total either way, but it shows more respect for sellers products. Both parties can walk away pleased with the deal. You are a master. Much respect.
@TrailTrackers
4 жыл бұрын
That's still 'jukin' him for the sign though. ;-) And I'm not saying there's anything wrong with him trying to get the best deal; hell we all would. It's just that earlier in the video when he was at the truck and the guy said $1500 was the minimum, his words were, "Yeah, we can make that happen". In my mind that ended the negotiation on the truck right there. But hey... This guy got the sign for free and it seemed like the seller was ok with the price payed. I have to wonder though how much the cameras being on the seller influenced his decision on price.

I noticed that too on the price of the truck.. but an asking price is an asking price, and what you think something is worth isn't what someone else thinks it's worth?.. it's a game, the seller wants as much as he can sell the truck for, and the buyers want's to get it for a price he has in mind. So starts the dance! And when selling anything, some money and it's gone, is better than no money and it's still sitting there.. that's a wasted exercise, and back to square one!

These guys know each other, plus, he pretty much grabbed the truck for him, so he might pair it with the old sign frame he wanted to unload & knew it was a limited audience sale. That's how these kind 'o low buck deals happen. He probably woulda sold both for much more if it were me or you, who he doesn't know. Just helpin a friend.

Exactly. No drama, just honest good content.🇺🇸👍
we have a 66 c30 dually flatbed with the 4.1 250 straight 6 and 4 on the floor, just put a new carb on it and she runs good. need to rewire all the lights but other than that its in good shape and paint is nice too. if i remember correctly you use the door handle or the window crank to lock and unlock the doors . i think you rotate the door handle the opposite way of opening it so i think its push the handle down instead of pulling up on it and the outside doors will be unlocked. have a locksmith make a key to fit that ignition and door locks so you will have the original locks for the truck as well. good find guys.
As a retired bodyman, I wince a little as you put linseed oil all over it. That's fine if you never want to paint it, and I do like the patina look, but I've had to work on oily rust before and it's a real pain cleaning the oil back off in the future normally, but boy, I sure do miss the '66 I had now! Great video.
You are so fortunate to be able to work with your Father. He seems to be soooo patient.
Love it! I'm glad to see that you guys actually talk prices on your show, unlike most, and also you don't skip over the work that you're doing. That way we can learn something while watching. I'm so sick of Barrett-Jackson, and all their super-rich buyers and sellers ruining the market for everybody else. Thanks for keeping it real, guys! Keep honoring The Lord in what you do, and he'll keep blessing you!
Who dislikes this video?! Excellent work guys. Brings a smile to my face seeing that thing moving down the road on it’s own. All that thing is missing is a nice wood bed floor.
I can't understand why anyone would want to chop the bed and make it a short bed. I was very happy to hear you say that you were not going to do it! One little trick that my Father taught me, when you are taking off an old hose that is stuck. Instead of fighting it and taking a chance of damaging the parts on the vehicle, jut take a knife and cut it length way. Then you can use a screwdriver and split it. Good show. thanks for bringing these old vehicles back into the light!
this is real real reality tv shows, something you actually want to watch, interesting, funny, down to earth people, keep up the great work guys
That plastic tank is kind of your signature now lol. I love this body style truck, wish I had the money to bid on it.Nice to see someone not setting unreasonable expectations on saving old cars. You guys are salt of the earth, using all kinds of hand tools, no lifts, working like most of us not in massive air conditioned shops with all Mac or Snap On tools. I love your show.
I really appreciate that you guys left that truck basically as is. That's almost exactly what I would've done to it. I've seen so many clean all original old vehicles hacked up and completely ruined by stupid trends, so I was really happy that you didn't ruin this one. I don't understand the appeal of short beds though. I think long beds look way way better and they're way more practical if you're actually hauling something.

The " really good ole days " remembered here , I grew up some 40vyrs ago in a 64 big window ! Man Lord bless you all ( yall ) in this good ole boy of a truck ! Id love to have one like this " ole farm truck for what I desire to do !
I had a 1964 with a 327 that I built with a 350/400 Automatic that my Dad sold while I was in the Marine Corps back in 1993... It was a Long Bed a well, but I sure miss that Truck!
Great video. It brings back memories. My neighbor had one of those that sat in his field forever. It was a black long bed with the small back window. It was a 283 with 3 speed on the column and we used to play in it and shift the gear shift. It didn't run. He finally gave it to some guy for some work that he did and that guy got it running.
A million times better than anything currently on TV, I love the fact that your working along side your dad and you guys both are enjoying what your doing keep doing what your doing. #JesusIsGod
Dad and I went to town in 1961 and looked at a 61 long narrow bed with a 235 and a 4 speed. The dealer wanted $1950. Dad told the dealer he would not give over $1900. They haggled for two weeks over $50 and finally settled in the middle on $1925. It was the same color as this one. Good memories!
So appreciate the effort you all put in much appreciated, great entertainment. You make it feel like we’re right with you doing the repair. Keep on Rustin thanks from 🇬🇧

I live in South Texas and just recently bought a 70 C10 for $1400. It's a 307 small-block with a 3-speed manual transmission. Absolutely no options. Manual steering, manual drum brakes, and no A/C (which sucks in Texas summer heat). It had a charging issue which turned out to be a nicked alternator power wire. I drive it every day for work now.

GREAT father and son team. i wish had this with my dad....

Awesome stuff guys!...Love watching you guys bring life back into these beautiful classics.
I have worked with linseed oil. Wondered about the spontaneous combustion warning. Got a rag wet with it and stuck it in a tomato can and set it outside. I went to close the coop up and saw the can so I picked it up and it burned my hand. If you're not careful with that stuff you could burn your house down or worse.
Sweet truck! I prefer the long bed myself.
Yes way.. a newer car that sits will come back to life. I just fired up a 2002 BMW that had been sitting for 6 years. The difference is actually in the technology itself. Having portable diagnostic equipment makes it easier than getting these beautiful old cars running.
Lance, what a NICE Truck! I have a 64 C10 Long Bed still running. It was my Grand Dad’s who bought it new. Something you might find in that owner book is the key code. Funny thing I had some extra Chevy keys for a different car and my friend tried it on his 1965 or 1966 Chevy and they worked. Back then they didn’t make a whole lot of different key sets. So you might even have extra keys sitting around that might just work. Good luck. Sure enough later in the video you found another tumbler. Still you other keys may work.

There weren’t many combinations for GM. Odds are good of finding a key that fit. I owned a 63 Catalina whose door key fit my friends 65 Impala and worked. My dad used to repo GM cars in the 60s with a set of 36 keys.

find random GM keys in junk yards. at that time GM only had a few key cuts, would find a key for that in no time...or ya know, a parts store carries GM ignition locks
Tried this on my 1980 Malibu wagon got a lot of compliments.. Thanks
very cool. Always a great feeling getting an old truck running like that. Keep the long bed. The profile on those 60's trucks looks better in my opinion.
That long bed looks nice I'd keep it that way
Why does everyone hate on long beds? They drive better. You have way more load room to work that is if you do work. Must be to much truck for people to drive they can’t handle the turn ratios I guess? Long bed trucks have always done me good.

This is a Great Show, Better than what ya see on TV, more into depth and show people actually what is going on KEEP UP THE GREAT Video's!!!
If I remember correctly on the Junkyard Digs channel he hooked up his in-line fuel pump backwards on the Formula Firebird he just posted a few weeks ago. It was pretty funny. In regards to this C10 I don't think i've seen many projects crank so easily for the first time. And as you know RARELY do they have a working accelerator pump in the carb. My brother were just talking about that yesterday when I was starting my 79 K10. (which also has a good accelerator pump) This one was down right simple compared to some of your recent purchases. 66 isn't my favorite year for C10's but i'm a die hard GM fan so they're all great in my book. Nice job, Lance.
said you take the truck for 15 then you told him you'd give him three hundred for the sign if you could sell the truck for 12 nice way to manipulate the guy into thinking you're buying his sign when you actually got it for free. You are a true businessman!
SCORE! Love it. I had a 66 Chevy PU I bought in 77. It was a beater then w/ 296 cu in I-6. Wouldn't win any races but pulled my 17' deep V pleasure boat around in Sierra's with no problems as long as you weren't in a hurry. No power anything and no AC. 3 on the tree and white. Near twin to your truck except white and 6 cyl.

The thing about those ole trucks is they have a lot of loading power and tons of torque. We had a '69 Chev that was used for pulling in hay bales and we loaded it up every day for a week and it came through every time.
I have a soft spot for these old C10 trucks nice find yet again 😎
I had a similar situation on my car and used the coil terminal to prevent fuel overflow as this was when the pumps were placed in the tank but still had a carb. Worked great and the use of the filter is a wise idea after the time the truck has sat.

The frame is bent, lots of bondo, surprised the door hasn’t flown away, but always get compliments on how it’s “such a nice truck”. But due to Americas rat race standards it is getting hard to find older trucks that haven’t been turned into beer cans.

No don't chop it down. A long bed truck is very useful. I should buy a truck one day. My poor Toyota Rav 4 and Mitsubishi Outlander Sport have hauled a ton of stuff in them but a truck would make my life easier. I love that shade of blue on that truck. It's beautiful.
Really loved this truck. The patina is great. Yall do a great job. If you wanted to and I surely would take that CONOCO sign and make it a TURNIN RUST sign, remove the front face and place it behind the sign on the building, you can paint the lip (border) black and make a top and bottom angle iron frame so it would be secure. Then put a new face in-place of the old Conoco face with your custom designed "Turnin Rust" sign. There are many options to the type of face you can install in that conoco cabinet including an Embossed Face with Raised Letters. I used to own a sign shop back in the 1980's and have done it all, including Gold Leaf, Airbrush you name it all the way to Fine Art in the early 2000's selling my work at the Safari Club International (SCI) and before that at Marvel Comics. You guys are doing a great job and for me it is close to the heart as I own three Firebirds, a 1967, and two '68's one of which is a true numbers matching 350 H.O. 4 speed (Muncie) with the VIN stamped on top of the trans and it matches the motor VIN as well as the Title. My other '68 Bird is a custom that I have been working on for 10 yrs but as any artist would agree is a work in progress lol.

Glad you guys are there doing this ! I am concerned (however) that you are helping saturate the market : You say "Im flipping it for this or that amount " . Example is - in the story of house flipping - Thats what made houses go sky high to where its not as affordable, takes all the fun out of it. My advise is use wisdom , don't ruin it for others . Other than that love what you are doing :-)
