its like the opposite of Bossa Nova, where musicians protested censorship in Brasil with music that had nice lyrics, but haunting melodies

OMG, I've just now read your comment frm 9 mo ago - *spot on* for me at a very difficult time. ReShelved the 100 benzos for perhaps another day. Music saves lives. Good people save lives.
Just add in Thundercat on the bass and Black Thought with some bars and we got ourselves the black music Justice League... sheesh! d-_-b

Terrace Martin just on a whole other level.
This is important for people to hear. So concise, so painful and somehow so healing. Beautifully done.
I played this bout 15 times in a row shit is amazing I need more!
Wow. Woke up to this YT Link sent by a friend's from college days (1970s lol). He and I have been sharing music since 1972. This track is just what I needed today, if all days. I've subscribed, and thank you for being.
I don't get tired of listening to this, should be the official soundtrack of the Summer.

Could be the Soundtrack of life, for those of us who "get it".
Why is it so cheerful yet sad????!
The irony of the lyrics vs. the melody = pure genius
This beat hits the soul but the lyrics are on another level 🙌🏽 emotions through the roof 🚀
Too smooth, just waiting for that whole EP now
Jesus christ this is so good. Some of my favorite artists here, I shouldn't be surprised
I feel bad for the homies who haven't discovered this yet!!
From the boondocks!
Watching the Boondocks and noticed the melody of this song which I already knew. Which came first? This is dope
powerful, powerfulness in simplicity

Best song of 2020
Ridiculously underrated. More of this please
Love this and everyone involved. Sounds of Crenshaw has been so important this year.
For those of you saying it's a sample from the Boondocks, it's not it was an original track that 9th Wonder created that they used on the show. A sample has a different meaning
I'm new to this song but I absolutely love it

When last did we get Real music like this...
@shirleylee8980
3 жыл бұрын
I know what you mean. I knew instantly that this was what "we" are listening for. I suspect it took you well less than a minute to recognize the "Real" the first time you heard it. The "when last" part of you comment implies Time. In the "comment / REPLY" context (or whatever the better word is), the song is nailed into the fabric of reality (and all siblings). The people who made this song are way out of our league. Mine, at least
Glasper and 9th wonder you can't lose 💯
This popped up on my Spotify and I immediately thought about the boondocks. Always wondered where that beat came from
If you watched The Boondocks, you'd notice that this is the exact beat 9th Wonder used for some cut scenes. Holds up nearly 20 years later.
This version doesnt contain the rap, but it still is COOL👍!
