Met Dimebag in 95 at Guitar Center in Arlington. Was sitting down just playing some shitty guitar riff then a badass lead started playing over it. Turned around and it was Dimebag, I was in such shock I can only piece together what he said. It was something to the effect of "Yah man just keep practicing dude...."

Who says his album tone sucks? Let's see what tone they got! Dimebag made every metal guitar player better that actually gives a fuck about the art. He was more than metal, the king of metal for sure, but more to him than that. You're ability catch his sound as well as you do actually gets me teared up! Sometimes when I see playing his stuff, I have to decide if I'm up for being emotional. So many things I can say, but I have probably said to much for digestion already. Thank you sir!

Idunno man, I can't get into that tone of his after CFH. It is way too scooped for me, and the production choices made the rest of the band sound flat in the background It's nothing to do with their playing, just the way their engineers and producers mixed the records

Andy Salter Tone is totally subjective, you can love Dimebag with all your heart and still think he didn’t have a great tone without being a douchebag. I came into metal through stoner and doom so it sounds super harsh to me. But that’s just my opinion, and I still adore Dime.

I have learned so much from Ola, he was the guy made me realize that I could record my amp at home and get a great sound. Because of him I dared to try and it's been a long journey but I've learned so much. Ola, just like he says here he is a good person and he has been opened with his followers. I can't imagine how many people has sent him questions and some times stupid ones and he would answer them anyway. I have been one of those, and the guy always gets back to me. Although if he didn't I wouldn't be mad as answering questions all day can be annoying and time consuming. A couple of months ago I had a question about mixing guitars and I made a test I sent the questions to 4 guys including Ola (first time I do this). 4 guys that are in a similar level as Ola.. ( I just don't want to mention names) but they are well known these days... and the only one who got back to me was Ola. That says so much. Again, I would understand if Ola decided not to reply to all his 100s of messages but the fact that he does it's evidence that he is open and likes to help. Ola ins an inspiration and we all should be very grateful for him! I tend to write about people like this because I hate when others do it when the person is dead!! After those very inspirational people die that's when others start saying good things about them and recognize them. I freaking hate that with passion. So that's why, Ola thank you for all you've done and continue doing. I hope you live healthy, happy, and long, much blessings for you and your family!

I've always loved music and video, but thought that I would never be able to work with it. Ola showed us that you can achieve anything if you work really hard for it, being the best person you can. As Chuchu said, thank you for everything you've done! Much blessings for you and your family. Come to Brazil soon, we need more metal here!

I had the privilege of seeing Pantera before Dime died. Probably the most memorable show of my life. The crowd lit the bushes around the main stage on fire when Dime slayed the solo in "The Sleep." The local fire department showed up to out it out and drenched the entire crowd, which was a blessing in disguise because it seemed to be 9,000 degrees out. Awesome video, Ola. He is, and will remain, one of the most influential guitar players in the history of metal. Rest in power Dime, you are truly missed! :)

It's great to hear this kind of stuff from a guy that's kinda young. Newer metalheads are prone to shit on Pantera cause the music was 'simple' or they were the gateway of metalcore and all that stuff. Thing some people don't know is: when Pantera appeared massively with CFH, they were absolutely the heaviest shit on the mainstream, no doubts. When Vulgar was out the band was the flag of metal all thru 90's (in mainstream circles of course), when thrash died and grunge took over the radio Pantera was there to kick ass with superb production, really solid performances, great stage presence and groovy yet aggressive metal well written and perfectly delivered.

Dimebag and buckethead. Two of the the most humble people in person it seems, Dimebag always had time to talk to an avid fan, give advice or just chat. Put a guitar in either of their hands and that disappears, they rub their skill in your face, make it look easy in its flawless beauty, drop the guitar and back to humble. They don't make 'em like Dime anymore, that's for sure.

Ola total respect and love for your passion, I first met dime & Vinnie in 83 before they made any cassettes that they would later sale at the clubs here in Dallas. Dime was always humble but very driven and was always interested in how he sounded on stage. I miss those days. I have their first ever autographs of their first promo pics in a magazine called Heavy Metal Times. They told me at the time they didn't know they were in a magazine. It was a small article about local Dallas bands to watch for. Pantera were great from the start. I used to help them tear down their equipment after the shows and one night the sound man locked the keys in their van and Dime (Diamond) went off on the guy and the next day the sound man didn't show and Dime said you know where I can get a mixing board so I took him to McCarty Music in Wichita Falls where Aaron Barns just happened to be working I went to high school with him and knew he worked there and the rest just became history for the band. All they ever wanted to do is make music they worked so hard and made it huge. I can't believe how it turned out for them. Away you sound great. RIP Abott Bros.

A few years ago, I greeted Ola on his birthday and he replied just like a normal person and even thanked me. He doesn't have that arrogance that others have. He treats his fans just like Dimebag does to his fans. Dimebag inspired him and he inspired me to not stop improving on my guitar skills. I've always wanted to order his Washburn signature guitars but it's not available in my country because of the greed of the previous government. Anyway, I also liked the 4-cable method that he made a tutorial about which I can't replicate yet since I can't afford an AX8. Thanks Ola for being such a down-to-earth person.

Ok, so in 1996 I saw Pantera in Denver's Red Rocks. They we're touring with White Zombie and Eye Hate God. It was my first METAL show. At the time, I lived in Colorado Springs which is about an hour south of Denver. The show, needless to say, was INCREDIBLE AND THE LOUDEST THING I'VE EVER HEARD! It changed me. On the way home, with a car full of psychos, we talked so much about Dime. I didn't know the first thing about him. My introduction to Dime was him coming out on stage that night ripping "Suicide Note Part 2" and Phil jumping around like fucking MANIAC! IT WAS AWESOME! NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE IT, NEVER HEARD ANYTHING LIKE IT. I WAS SOLD! I got home, woke up my Dad and told him "I wanna do that! I want to play guitar, and bass, and drums! I WANT TO LEARN ALL OF IT! DAMMIT! I was fucking motivated man. Like no other time in my young life. I was 18. Been playing music ever since. Didn't make it to Drums just yet. I still got time. So, Thank you PANTERA, DIME, PHIL, VINNY AND REX. THANK YOU SO MUCH! ❤🤘❤🤘❤🤘❤🤘❤🤘❤🤘❤🤘❤

I discovered Pantera when i was 14 years old at the time and slowly discovered metal. Vulgar just came out a few weeks prior a friend let me borrow his tape and the first song i heard was A new Level and i was hooked for life and now 45 years old, still today a hardcore fan. Pantera shaped me on who i became today, they saved me from suicide as a teenager lost in this shit world with many demons and no one to talk too...i will die a Hardcore Pantera. I met them in June 2004. They shaped me on who i became today. I owe them so much. in June 2004, Damaplan came to my town, i managed to say thank you to Dime and Vinnie for what they did for me even if it almost cost me an eye in the process. LOL but i didn't care, I had shared few Black tooth and few beer with my 2 idols. I'd love one day to meet Rex and Phil to thank them also and tell them my story of Vinnie almost blinding me. I hope they come to my town for the celebration. i'll do anything to be there. I was suppose to see Pantera in Summer 92 i think, dumbass ex friend was suppose to buy 8 tickets, he bought 7. Since that day i never spoke to that guy ever again.

Dime will be GREATLY missed. He was THE quintessential guitarist, in my book. He had chops, but he also had a "feel" in his playing that conveyed so much attitude, as well as having "soul" that showed so many layers of badassery(i.e. the solo in Floods). He was also murdered two months after loosing my mother to pancreatic cancer. I met him while he was doing clinics for Randall Amps, and all the stories about his awesome nature of a human being are true. I never knew the guy till talking with him, and he made me feel like we grew up together. Such an amazingly awesome dude!🤘🏻👹🤘🏻

I saw Pantera 15 times and damageplan 1 time from 1992 to 2004. Every single time I saw them I had a blast! I got to meet dime 4 times and every single time he was absolutely awesome. I wish a lot metal fans today could have seen them live, they would understand what I'm talking about. Pantera is still my favorite band, and though I might like a lot of other bands none of them could ever dethrone Pantera from the top of my list. This was a great video Englund, nice job.

100% agree Ola. This video almost brought me to tears. Dimebag must have been such a kind and nice person. I mean, watch his clinic video. He was obviously a very friendly person. Didn't behave like a superstar and gave everyone the feeling he likes them and I am sure he did. He was one of us and gave us all so much of his passion. I will always miss him and also his brother. They both were so brilliant musicians.

Ola E. Your doing an amazing job with your tributes to Dime. I've seen Pantera live 3 times and the first time was in Philadelphia at the Spectrum in 94' far beyond tour. I don't have to tell you how crazy that show was, general admission on the floor only, but when the lights went out right before Pantera started playing, me and my few friends, along with almost the entire seating audience rushed down and jump to the floor, security couldn't stop any one. I had the best time of all 30 something shows I've been to, at that concert, I was lucky enough to catch a Rex guitar pick while there. All of us who love Pantera and Dime were touch in some way or another. By his amazing playing and his personality. I think it's awesome that with your success as a musician you take the time to make videos and pay tribute to Dime, it show how great of a person you are, and you Sir are pretty dam close to Dime's sound, tone, and playing style. If there's a tribute tour? You'd have my vote to play Dimes music. Rock on Ola, Dime would be honored.

Wonderful tribute! I also have to add, I don't think I've ever seen someone play his stuff so "honestly". I can't think of a better way to put it. It just sounds so right. Every time you see someone cover Dime's riffs or solos, even when it's someone great like Zakk Wylde for instance, it still sounds like that person playing a cover. You seem to channel his style and tone, and the finer nuances of his playing, perfectly. Nicely done.

Love this video Ola. I love Dimebag so much. To this day he is one of my biggest influences. It's actually pretty funny. I hadn't realized this until just now after watching this video. I picked up the guitar when I was eleven and played on and off in to my twenties. About three years ago I was watching some old Pantera and was watching Dime play the solo from Cowboys from Hell and thought, "Holy shit! I've got to do that, wait!!! I CAN do that! I bought a new electric and became serious about my playing. I wanted to be the best. Ever since that day three years ago I've been "beyond driven". Guitar is all I want to do. I truly love it. Thanks for everything Dime. Getcha Pull!!!!
