Great reaction. “SOS d'un terrien en détresse” tells of an earthly being that is in distress and asking for help because he never felt well in his own skin, he better wants to be a bird to see the world in case it could be more beautiful when seen from above. Luc Plamadon wrote the lyrics of SOS about a very distraught young man who just lost his lover to overdose suicide causing him extreme questioning of his own existence. Finally being by her lifeless body, he is able to let her go “in peace“ with the words ‘sleep, my child, sleep’. It is a part of an french Rock-Pop opera released in 1979: Starmania. One of the 5 most difficult songs in French language. It was recorded by Daniel Balavoine in 1979 or so and Grégory Lemarchal won of the French reality singing competition Star Academy 2004 with this song. What else can I tell to someone who knows and undestand so much?

This performance shows the progress he’s made from his “debut” appearance in China in 2017. This one is fine tuned and his lows are lower and richer than previously. The one at the Slavic Bazaar in 2018 is nice because the sound is crystal clear and his singing is silky smooth.

Liza, I'm an old(er) guy who's mother was an operatic soprano as well as a concert violinist. My youth was filled with music from say one I'm sure. The first time I heard Dimash I was fascinated. Not stunned as I was a lifelong world traveler and know for a fact that there are many absolutely fantastic singers we never hear of. It's sad. Dimash is one of those absolutely fantastic, one of a kind vocalists that we HAVE had the privilege of hearing. I will always find time to listen to Dimash. His mastery of his own voice and the mechanics of muscle control is incredible. That being said, I am more inclined to favor his 'S.O.S.' performance at the Chinese talent show "I Am Singer" ( where he was a 'token guest) and in the same performance in 2017, please treat yourself to his performance of 'Adagio.' If you should watch this, just remember, SOMEBODY had to go on stage AFTER his performance! Now about you and your reaction?? THANK YOU for your professionalism and love of the skill and talent of the performer. You are the 'real deal'. Can't wait to watch more of your reactions to Dimash. first of all, hi from Indonesia. in my life I really like music, almost all genres. but, since I was in junior high school, I only have one favorite, Metallica. however, 8 years ago I accidentally saw a video of an accapela competition event. Since then, my favorite singer/band has grown, Pentatonix. and since late 2018, I watched the music video of Dimash, and he became my third favorite. I hope that your journey in getting to know Dimash will always be videoed and uploaded in reaction videos, so that we can watch it together. love you❤

I look forward to your reactions, because you still by your expressions and words - but softly while he sings - communicate to us your thoughts without!!! talking all over on top of his singing!! THANK U for that! It's clear you are a singer so you know not to step on his performance!!! This version is gut wrenching, heart breaking, and so painfully beautiful all at the same time. There’s a maturing an even deeper soul level expression in this latest version. Parts barely uttering words .....he sang more of the words in previous versions probably because they were performed in singing competitions so it was more about the "singing" voice....but here he seems to make interpretations choices…more spoken words haltingly..real to life....caught in the throat as one would speak when distressed...… He seems in agony as he sings the end.....DIMASH USUALLY stands in a powerful wide stance. Here he begins with his feet close, free arm hanging, the look on his face.....his eyes and eyelids not looking into the camera but down -…..for that final note - camera close up on his face.....he looks as if “distressed”…….wounded.....sorrowful. What is so moving about Dimash's singing is, many singers can deliver lyrics in a moving emotional way, with power and in fine voice; but Dimash becomes the music, the lyrics the very meaning. He is the embodiment of the lyrics thru sound vibration, pure energy, pure soul vibrational energy.....Dimash is the lyrics and music come to life....

I saw my first sos at the singer show in China not knowing anything about him maybe two years ago. People have not argued with me I’ve neither heard yeah or nay. But after that performance I went and wikipedia his but. I read for an hour and would learn that most not all was true about Dimash there. Then I went back and watched sos again. I came to the conclusion since all the artist were professional and he was too though they didn’t know his skills. After watching again I knew that he had produced and collabed with everything that went into that song. The lights, the sound engineer for his voice, the backup vocals, the instruments. The producer was angry about something he wanted Dimash to change but dimash had refused and. Walked out and producer said after he left musicians are temperamental. Liza I said all that to say this was dimashs digital show. January 16th while Dimash was in his doctorate. He already had two masters in classical and contemporary music a class in broadway stage production, 20 years experience and education in the music industry was a prodigy, mother an opera singer dad a pop singer and producer. Dimash did this show himself with collaborations with all involved. After the show in 2017 till digital show in January 2021 he had given concerts all that time. Professional concerts with performance arts. He did this song instruments especially as he plays 8. He also as the years went by got better at his French onnthi# song and France had him come to Cannes film festival to sing sos there. I just wanrpted to tell you my theory 2 years ago way before this SOS. We need Dimash so bad in this industry of auto tuned up singers that are used up till they need surgeries on their voices. It is refreshing to hear someone trained in the use of his voice.

у Димаша есть еще три исполнения в США и во Франции...это еще не говоря о Китае и более ранних пополнений... здесь Димаш добавил трели, которые не использовал в SOS никогда. - Dimash has three more performances in the USA and France ... not to mention China and earlier replenishments ... here Dimash added trills that he never used in SOS.

You know you may really enjoy comparing SOS performances, the lovely way u break each down. SOS on the Singer Chinese competition he’s youngest (2017), & that performance when it aired he got 600+ million views overnight & needed bodyguards. It’s what started his international fame & u shouldn’t miss it. He performs it differently than here, & it has amazing live backing music, live music the best of the 4 versions. Then SOS Slavic Bazaar (2018) is very different, more intense power throughout & more “polished” in techniques he used (I’m not an expert to describe all the things so would be cool to hear from you). SOS Tokyo Jazz Festival (2020) was in quarantine just him on a stool in his home studio & so he again makes different choices. You can see a lot of close up his throat shows technique I know someone like u would shed light on. They’re all stunning. And u see different mic work in each too. … I know that’s a lot but I truly believe there’s never been anyone like him & one could teach a master level class on comparing his performances. 💯

Thank you, Liza, for your wonderful analysis! Every Dimash performance of SOS is uniquely special, depending on his mood and the acoustics of the setting. I love this particular performance, and it would be hard (impossible!) to choose a favourite, there are so many! For me, special mention goes to SOS from Singer 2017, the Kinetic Voice concert in Kazakhstan, the private VIP performance at Cannes Film Festival, the Los Angeles Spirit of the Great Steppe performance...and many more. Dimash singing SOS is the gift that keeps on giving.

There is no audience in that performance. I believe for such performer as Dimash it is important, just because of the power of feedback.
