I drove a 1973 Fury taxi in the east End of Toronto, "cabbagetown" , and where the irish dancing halls were. They were the green and orange Beck taxis. Trustworthy big lump with its 225 slant six and the hose-down upholstery

I have the exact same car out here in northern California. Amazing to see yours. These old four doors didn't last they crushed most of them. Mine has a 400.

My first car was a 1973 Fury II. 360 auto. It was ordered as a stock car, CASCAR made the same rule as NASCAR and the 360 (320 HP) Chrysler designed to meet the stupid rules was now illegal on the track. It was never stripped for the track, but the powertrain was left alone and it was sold at a dealership. 100MPH in the 1/4 mile and you could kick in the passing gear at 120. It was gold like yours. I miss that car.

This detective work is half the fun of owning a classic, sort of like digging up fossils to see where it all began. Thanks for sharing, maybe you will find the sister car! We were able to trace our 66 back to 1981 when somebody saw one of my posts then reached out to me. He was able to prove it with pictures and little details only somebody who had the car would know. You never know....!

The alternator was special built for Chrysler. You may also have an automatic trunk release located by your right leg. it is a momentary push button. Best of luck with the vehicle. Lucky Man !!!!!!!!

Hi My Friend, I had a 73 Plymouth Fury 1 (my first car). Based on the speedometer console, it has the Police Package. You also have a Leece Naville 100 amp alternator. The civilian package would have had the usual D and C for charge/discharge. Yours says Plus 80, minus 80. Just my two cents. I LOVE that car.

Well I just found your channel . One of those 73 was auction off at the DPS auction in around 81 or 82 in Down town Austin in a big tin barn silver barn like you would have on you cow barn . I started going to the DPS back in 81 .They had a auction once a month on a Saturday . I bought several DPS cars and a lot of Police Officer's from my area bought them too . The car that I saw at the auction back then was the same color as the one you have . I wanted it bad but it was low mileage and brought good money . If I had knew about that auction and saw that car the first thing that would come to my mind was that's a DPS car . I was buying 77 and 78 back in those days . Man if I knew about that auction where you picked this car up you would of had some competition cause I would of been bidding against you . I have a 88 Plymouth Gran Fury TXDOT package car that is like new . I never was found of the 82 through 89 but I bought and sold a few back in the day .

Around time of that meeting in Oct of 72....I was with my parents as they were getting a leftover 1972 Dodge Polara Custom Green ...black vinyl top..green interior with front bench seat that had the armrests fold down to either add a 3 passenger or make it look kinda like bucket seats.....360 2 barrel Auto. ...with A/C. Remember that day well....Manzi Dodge New England Area. Car had major flywheel issues....out of balance..or teeth machined wrong ...or flexplate.....idfk....but it chewed up a farmers dozen starters easy..... 3 yrs later it had rot front and rear.....everywhere...but....3 yrs of decent family travel.....then all new England chryslers were either motor salvaged for the south or became demo derby warriors where they didn't fair so well as they were unibody....but.....they held there own...lol Cheers God bless you all

Very cool investigation work! I wish I had the back story to my car. I do have a pristine build sheet, and the dealer it was bought new from in Virginia, but no original owner information. I bought it from the second owner who never titled it, so technically, I am the second owner. Keep up the great videos!

The build sheet for my 74 Charger is still woven into the rear seat cushion (similar to your Fury). I may try to fish it out this Spring. Thanks for the inspiration.

@@theunskilledmechanic I will do that. I have the build sheet to my 66 Coronet that was my dad's. Strangely enough, it looks like it was originally meant to have a 361-2bbl but was optioned with a 273. Wished it was the baby big block.....

Department of Public Safety is the same a the state police in Texas, maybe an administrator or higher official’s car since the paint scheme isn’t black and white like a DPS officer’s car.

I believe the car was ordered through the dealership which usually takes 4 to 6 weeks and then it must be prepped before delivery.

Just to help add why lots of Mopars were neglected for quite some time, Chrysler hoarded the patents for many years. I remember my parents having a 1972 4 door Dodge Dart in the late 90's that had bad A frame bushings, and at that time you could not find replacement bushings for the car, so the car was rendered undrivable. I know the Federal Govt. has always been after decommissioning these classic cars, and there still is an ongoing war between the Federal Govt. and classic car enthusiasts. It is my guess that the Govt. had a lot to do with part unavailability during these times. So like us, a lot of people junked these cars feeling there was no hope to keep them going. Much later the patents were released for reproduction parts. I believe Year One bought a lot of the patents many of the reproduction parts and molds, as well as the ability to stamp vin codes on said parts for originality.

Someone's probably still around that knows the answer to your question. Do you know what the differential ratio is on your Fury? Most of those cars had a big Dana with a 2.71, or a 2.93(4?), as I recall.
