Linus is so harsh on Razer, but I think it's because he has hopes for Razer. If you think about it, Razer has steadily improved their laptop everytime Linus complained about something. That aside, this Razer looks amazing. Really a big fan of the bezeless screen. I am always a fan of having more screen in a smaller form factor. PS. Is that an MSI gaming tattoo? :P

Linus said this in reference to un-soldered RAM. It's not sad because it's 2018 and RAM is still being soldered to boards, it's sad because it USED to be un-soldered, and is now usually soldered. It's sad because what once used to be guaranteed in laptops (modularity) is now considered a feature.

I don't mind their peripherals, there mice are kind of shit though. Never was a fan of their machines, they are the Apple of Windows PC's. I don't know anybody who has owned one honestly.

I think Razer has better repair management than Apple, but, I think most sane people will agree that there are far better value laptops than the Razer blade out there. in 2018, paying so much for a brand, when you can get a better laptop for around the same price or even less is downright stupidity.

Just judging by size and specs, this seems to be the perfect laptop. Thin, light, GTX 1070, 6-core CPU, expandable RAM, (hopefully) decent cooling, large battery and modern, non-"gamery" design. If only it weren't so expensive...

IMO the problem with all these products is that the dedicated gpu doesn't automatically switch off when its power isn't needed and switches to the intel igpu. This makes for pretty poor battery life which imo makes it pretty poor as a mobile device.

Hey Linus! VERY good first hands-on impression, the best I've watched so far for sure. I like how you really go into it as a real user would, really getting a feel of every little thing, such as keyboard keys feel, noticing the cable on the power brick, etc. I'm looking forward to your full review, but what would be really great is a comparison video between similar laptops like the MSi GS65, the Asus Zephyrus and the Aero 15x. Like you said, that kind of products has evolved a lot in the last couple years and competition is stronger than ever. Those are the laptops I've been waiting for for years now and I can't believe we're finally there. Please an in-depth comparison video would be awesome! (don't forget to compare the speakers, as that could easily be what makes me go to one product over the others!)

That is good advice but I'm going to be changing the computer soon so It'll have an SSD or even an NVME. - I have cleaned my disk of all data and re-installed Windows 10 but the time is the same. I think the disk is worn out by now. - Also, I take extremely good care of my laptop. Clean it, defragment the disks, check for errors, have no malware and don't overload disk as well. Also, I don't have any programs on startup. My desktop is clean as well. Still don't know why it has come to this.

I've been looking to laptops with a Gtx 1070, i7 hexacore (8th gen) and 15.6 inch display. I don't know is the 1070 256 SSD 144hz a good deal. I feel like it's quite good. Someone please give me advice

I'm looking forward to the full review. I've had a couple of 14" Blades over the years and they've been great gaming machines for when I've needed to game away from home, especially because they don't weigh 3 tons like a regular gaming laptop used to. My only gripes with the previous units (apart from the price) seems like they might be fixed now, but we'll have to see. Never like the physical touchpad buttons they were too small and wobbly I'm glad they're gone, 14" always felt just a little too small (but one I was willing to put up with for an extremely small gaming laptop) but I'm glad they've gone to 15", I'm glad they've gone mini display port as well as HDMI now. The only remaining issue is fan noise, if they've got on top of the fact that their previous laptops sounded like a 747 taking off under a prolonged gaming session then this would be a perfect laptop.

I can still hear that fan noise haunting me in my dreams.

Just because they share some cultural traits do not mean they run their businesses the same. Forbes ranks Singapore at number 9 in the world for doing business compared to China which is number 66. Chinese businesses are sooo heavy regulated compared to Singapore and closely tied to the government if they want to trade internationally. Judging by your comments it's pretty obvious you don't like the Chinese, how about you actually visit China with an open mind and a little bit of critical thinking. Question here, I have the option between a 4k screen with a 120hrz refresh rate, or a 1080p screen with a 144hrz refresh rate which also includes g-sync. If I will be using the machine for AAA titles, what should I choose

For the thickness you said there was a noticeable difference, that is due to the fact of the larger rubber feet of the laptop which doesn't count as/isnt actually thickness. This laptop can compare to other new laptops since it has thin bezels while packing the power (unlike the zephyrus for example). However it is quite expensive and that is what you should really give them a hard time for. All models should cost at least 300$ less. For example paying 1900$ for a simple 1060 60hz is inacceptable when there is the helios 300 which costs only 900$ on black friday and offer similar specs while providing you with ample storage (razer laptops dont usually get affected by sales).

usb-c on the right.... that close to you..... right where a mouse goes.... is so stupid Edit: Well didn't expect this one to blow up. People get offended for criticism of a product by a company they like... nothing new. Look I like razer but I want them to do better. If it was for a lefty at least put the usb-c in the back of the ports or if on the other side next to your proprietary port (if you must have one). My dell xps 13 does that. Threw away the proprietary charger after it stopped working and got a thunderbolt charger with appropriate wattage and any thunderbolt cable. You know.... the way things should be. The problem here is that this is a flagship gaming laptop. If you are the type of person that cares enough for a 144hz display you probably care enough to have a wired connection for competitive multiplayer games, and the only way to do that on this product is through the one usb-c port which should be behind the usb 3.0 slots for your peripherals/mice so that it isn't in the way. Its just kinda common sense guys. Of course this is a nitpick. I don't hide from that. I just call out things I don't like to have a conversation about making the products better. Some of you guys really need to not have so much pride in the product ecosystems you buy into. It doesn't contribute to a better product. It doesn't contribute to much of anything.

I love that ltt can use or build everything they want. No limits. Everything just somehow goes through.. :D Want to build a Dual-8k Productivity Setup? Sure. No problem. Want to build an insane four way sli gaming pc? Everything's to your disposal. Want to use the new unreleased Razer Blade? Sure. Give me a sec.

Too clean "unboxing-environment" for true LTT classic experience.

I may be a little bias because I have had the 2017 blade (1060, kaby-lake, 512 gig) but too be honest, I think I prefer that. The refresh rate on the new one is a major positive, but I like the design and chassis of the old one. Also, I am very very pissed a bought my blade a year before the all new upgraded one came out :(

I got the razer blade pro but the power button is wobbly and like crackly when i push it. Is that normal?

Perfect laptop would be a Razer Stealth body, with Dell XPS 13 display, a finger print scanner, and MacBook's trackpad and speakers.

Dat love-hate relationship :) Seemed a bit too harsh, starting from the title, to packaging jabs...The laptop is very good, happy they finally stepped it up - it, realistically, has everything you could want from a gaming / high-performance work machine - thin, relatively light, very powerful, good display for either gaming or creative work, and really well built. Yeah, competition exists, but it's not so abundant, even the pricing seems ok-ish compared, so he should cut them some slack :) For example, bezels on Zephyrus are a huge turn off now - also worse I/O, only 1080p monitor with not very good accuracy, TB3 also on right-hand side etc...As I said - Linus, be objective :)

I am so offended this doesn’t have a finger print scanner. At this point I really feel I’m just buying the name. Razer use to push boundaries but it seems like they’re missing basic features we simply need. I can’t enter my password 20 times a day, my notebooks have a finger scanner on the on button and I don’t even have to think about it. I wish they had just out a few extra dollars into this design. Regretfully, I think I’m out. For this price, and the amount it needs in upgrades for 4K video editing, I deserve a finger print scanner. Lol. Also what’s with no SSD slot! For the price I don’t want to have to buy and lose a $3 SSD reader all the time. Grrrr

@Razer: -Display Bezels --> Nice job making it small! Thats 2018! :) -Display --> Nice Display, but pls give us a 144Hz 1080p with Touch/Glossy option! -Overall Design --> Beautiful, but the rounded design of the previous one is a bit nicer. Maybe for the next one you make something in between of these two designs. Try to make a Razer Blade 14 with a 14Inch Display thats actualy have thin bezels like this. That would be awsome!

the charging brick with the curved cord is GREAT in the backpack, takes less space and it doesn't get bent in there, when using it just place where it doesn't get bent, not that hard. Also if the thermals are better, a few mm doesn't change anything in the backpack, as long as it's not thick it's ok!

I'm using the Alienware 13 R3 with Geforce 1060 6GB and rather love it. I considered Razor at the time, and although Razor was prettier, it seemed to make too many sacrifices to get there, like increased fan noise. I use the system for high loads, machine learning mostly, but also some battle royal. It's holding up great and the keyboard reminds me of an older Thinkpad. I'm glad Razor in this updated version has done what was needed to improve the overall function though. I'll likely be faced with a choice between Alienware and Razor again in late 2019, as Asus isn't really offering something that appeals lately.

How else watches these videos and never buy anything because they are broke??

I think people don't really care that much these days... People blaster their (work) machines with stickers all day now. So unless you work with super conservative people it should be alright.

Compared to other game laptops, Razer is pretty much one of the more subtle machines. The MSI GS65 is also really sleek but most modern laptops are ugly black/red combinations with big ass game logo's all over the thing. And believe it or not, Razer is popular on the audio part as well so even non-gamers buy Razer products.

Linus you need to make your own laptop line up I would jump on without even thinking about it I really feel like you and your company could do this and really start a new movement in the gaming laptop world

Amazing what good competition will do to the consumer electronics market. From a creative use case perspective, with that build quality, this seems like the perfect portable prosumer workstation type device at the 4K tier. The pricing will have the usual razer tax, but that’s the price of great usability and design.

It's a set, Its such an awesome place. They have living room sets, futuristic sets, its absolutely crazy!

Any suggestions on a laptop that has almost similar design/keyboard/thin bezel/UHD display but without a graphics card or any fancy gaming components?? Want something for note taking and basic tasks but has similar aesthetics to this laptop
