I agree, being outsruck on the feet should count for more than 40 seconds control time to end the round when no damage was done s a nd no submission attempts

The UFC brought usman in on short notice and at 185 to give khamzat the ability to highlight reel him and he failed. Usman is not the same guy as 2021 goat version

He did good in my opinion. I like the fact that he went to Dana outside of the cage to apologize for not finishing the fight. It shows that he wants to keep his word. The standup was a bit weird on both sides, Usman is a tough oponent to beat.

He did good by failing to submit or even GnP usman even though he had back control the the entire first round, he did so good gassing out after round 1, claimed to have broken his hand from attempting rear naked chokes for 4 minutes as an excuse for gassing, did good by getting lit up on the feet by usman, did good by losing 2 rounds from getting outstruck by an 11 day fresh off the couch popped knee usman. Yeah he did so good. Everything was in Khamzat's favour yet he scraped a lucky win on the scorecards.. I'm not too sure if that constitutes as "good". I will give him props though, his takedowns are really good, as long as he even has a hold of a single foot he can basically take you down with ease

He didn't super disappoint but the win was bitter sweet and that's the 2nd time now where hes thrown out his game plan and just fought..that's not how ita gonna work for him.if he broke his hand the 1st round okay theres some room for understanding why rounds 2 and 3 played out the way they did..but he needs to fight within himself and use his striking to set up that insane wrestling he has cuz no one can stop him..he took usman down what 3 or 4 times...thats.more times combined than Colby and leon..that's just insane...I definitely agree with some others on here..now that he can travel to the US..its time to join AKA and team up with team Khabib..look what it's done for Belal

Khamzats striking defense got a lot better since the burns fight. Usman lost his last two fights, but we should never forget that he knocked out burns and masvidal and tkoed colby. Khamzat improved immensely in this defense..he can take anybody down in middleweight imo. His gastank is his biggest problem. If he gets Strickland this will be a fun fight. Imagine strickland beating another one of dana cashcows😂😂😂😂😂

Hey Kiyon, He was very impressive in my opinion, he learned he cannot rely on that "seek and destroy" method anymore in the top5 after the match against Gilbert Burns. Now we are seeing a more smarter/calculated fighter in Khamzat who sets up his takedowns properly after feeling striking pattern/rhythm of his opponents lol. Not to mention his topcontrol is still very scary, he takes you down one and u're mostly staying there until the end of the round. I thought Jiri Prochazka(whom I think is likely the future of MMA) is the only one who has the highest chance of stopping Chimaev in his quest for triple champ status, but at this point after seeing Khamzat evolved, I'm not too sure anymore. His match against Usman might be somewht lackluster compare to his previous ones, but better to be calculated/composed than reckless in a high stakes match. Just my opinion

Its insane how his striking can be such "bad" when hes been having some insane striking coaches in his career, but honestly I think its alot about "ring rust" as well, hes hardly been fighting lately and hes a guy that wanna fight as much as possible. Everyone that ever trained with him talks about Khamzat being such a beast and can go on forever, but still he seems to get tired fast - adrenaline dumps, issues after covid? Its both impressive and not impressive by Khamzat, the impressive part is of course how he ragdolled Usman in the first, no one has ever done that and I don't think anyone will ever do the same to Usman. Unimpressive part is his standup and gas tank, although he "should" have a good standup but im not too sure anymore about that.

People have absurd expectations for Khamzat. They expect him to just crush competition like he did unranked guys. He's in the big leagues now, there are no easy match ups. He manhandled Usman like no one has ever done, and despite losing in the striking, he was the overall aggressor and had an insane amount of control time.
