The foul count was pretty even in that first match with Barcelona picking up two yellow cards. Bonmati is doing what all top players and managers do these days. by trying to put pressure on the officials for the second leg.. Maybe if Barcelona players stayed on their feet instead of throwing themselves to the ground any time they are losing possession, there would be less stoppages. Chelsea even made less substitutions than Barcelona in this game. It was a competitive match that's all.

I felt I was hearing one of my comments from when Emma was first appointed. I watched Barcelona women since they signed English players. They are a special team, but Chelsea play in WSL which is much more competitive than the Spanish league and are used to "suffering" as was said of the men's game referred to with Manchester City men. Note that City's women's team are playing fantastic football and have a policy of developing talented young players. If you did not see how Jess Park is playing, take a look. I am looking forward to seeing them in UCL next year, especially as Lauren Hemp chose to stay today, rather than going to Barcelona. I joked on a Barcelona video that they wanted her so Usain Bolt would wear their Hemp shirt. I assume they will sign Ewa Pajor instead. They have missed Asisat Oshoala, who is now in USA.

Chelsea were 8 minutes from knocking Barcelona out when the referee, Anders Frisk gives them a ridiculous free kick from which they score. Then before full time, he gives Barca a penalty, which Rivaldo misses. Never mind, in extra time, Frisk gives Barcelona another penalty and sends off a Chelsea player. This is the same referee who took charge of the match between the same two clubs, five years later and sent off Drogba with Chelsea 1-0 up in the away game. Look, Barcelona had a great team back then but they were also getting help from Uefa and the dodgy referees they appointed.

It's simple, Chelsea played better than Barcelona.
