The first sentence is such an underrated comment
I’m a 78 YO woman who has been cooking for about 70 of those years. I married into a large Missouri family with fantastic cooks my family on the other hand came from Holland and my Oma never seemed to get the knack of good cooking. So for me and my husband it was OTJT. we are pretty good, love cooking and are always trying. BUT for me after finding you and your channel I have become such a better cook! I’ve bought several of your products and love them. Thank you so much. I am going to make your turkey gravy for Thanksgiving. For the first time in a long while our whole family will be together and my husband is the pot maker and I am always made the gravy from the drippings. That has resulted I’m me being in the hot kitchen wishing away at the “glue“. This time I’ll have made it a couple of days in advance so no miss no fuss. Yeah! Thank you chef. Happy holidays to you and Jack and families.

I like how Chef doesn't do a second slice horizontal like many other people. You don't need to do it because of how the onion layers are shaped, so the horizontal slice is unnecessary. Also I found the Chinese Cleaver better than Chef's knife for this as the Onyo doesn't slide around.

Cut some onyo's and cry about it
My eyes starting to release tears by just watching this 😢😢😢
I've seen chefs cut the onion in such a way as to not cut completely through. Never really paid attention as to why. He explained it so well I'll never cut an onion the foolish way I used trying to fight to keep the cuts intact for the traverse cut.. wow.

this video reminds me of when I was just learning as a simple naïve cook back in college. But after years of college and half a decade of cooking, trying to get a reliable income from doing a cooking job is nearly unbearably hard due to rising cost of living and covid... so much so this industry has become incredibly seasonal. No matter how good I am or become it just feels like I've wasted precious time and money. This is a regret I can't get off my chest after even typing it for the world to see on a KZread video..
Simply brilliant and thanks for all the passion he puts into it!

Great tutorial. Over the course of my adult life, when dicing onions I’d always think “am I doing this right?” Finally learned I usually wasn’t exactly haha. Thanks to my favorite chef on the internet I now can properly dice any “onyo” sent my way.
My KZread algorithm just slotted this into my video viewing list. I'm a subscriber to the Chef and love how easy he makes cooking. The onion example is perfect and makes 100% sense.
