Diana Ross and Florence Ballard probably drove Mary Wilson crazy being that they were both extreme and she felt a loyalty to them both since their preteens...

@@vegetaprince5112 Mary has way more feeling than Diana. You can just tell. Mary is REAL. She has kept the legacy alive for Flo's memory. Diana barely mentions the group that made her a star. And she isn't especially friendly with Mary. Very sad considering they all started out in the same boat.

@Alain Quartermaine well that's stupid opinion. but you're wrong. to have the Supremes legacy behind you - the most successful group Motown produced - is a HUGE legacy. People listen to their music every day. It still plays on radios. They are still inspirations for girl groups of today HENCE Mary is still VERY relevant. Diana is not. Anyone with a brain knows Diana Ross was the real pain in the backside in those early days. She wanted full control and full attention hence why she slowly worked her way up to being the star. If Berry had not been interested in her things would have turned out VERY different. The only other person interested in Diana was Smokey Robinson because they were friends. I feel sorry for Mary and Flo. So sad that their legacy is tainted by Diana ruling the roost. There is no denying Diana is talented, beautiful looking and a great singer, but had she not had the backing by Berry Gordy she would've disappeared into the background. This is all in the past now so there's no point blaming anyone. The Supremes made great songs regardless and nothing Diana does can change that. Mary and Flo are VERY relevant even today.

Honey Diana Ross wasn’t like that. I’ve heard story of how Diana would go to the studio just to pave her way to becoming an artist on Motown’s Label. Really it was Diana who actually gotten them signed to Motown because she knew Smoky Robinson. But anyways, Diana recalled saying that the girls treated her with indifference and she didn’t even know about the change.

The difference was Gordy. Diana knew from very early on and worked on Berry Gordy to get what she wanted. It's still shocking today very little repercussions from Diana and Gordy's Motown love affair. Diana pretty much got away with every dirty trick she pulled at Motown.

She was a Diva because Berry Gordy was working the piss out of her. Flo and Mary BOTH confirmed that he worked her the hardest. Flo even spoke of having to visit her in the hospital after she fell out and had a breakdown during a show. Despite all of the fantasies about her sleeping with him and "magically" becoming a star, most Motown insiders concede that she WORKED HARD. Even the ones who can't stand her said that she showed up early, stayed late, and took her job seriously. Berry put a LOT of responsibility on her. I can imagine him telling her over and over again that she was responsible for the group success or failure. Imagine carrying all of THAT on your shoulders in your early 20's. No wonder she acted like a bitch sometimes.

At last someone who has read all the stuff written and puts it together. All three ladies have a story to tell and only by reading them do you get the true picture. Diana Mary and Florence paid for their fame. I wish her life ended better for Florence. Mary seemed in a good place before she passed. Maybe others will look into all this and maybe see like you have that Diana was not a bad person just sometimes made decisions like we all have that we can not see where they will finally lead. Also she is rarely acknowledged for the good decisions she made. I believe the best was to leave the Supremes. It allowed her to grow and develope. It allowed the group to grow and their sound to develop. I truly love Stoned love and up the ladder to the roof. I don't think that sound could be made with Diana still there. Also Diana could not have made Aint no mountain high enough as a Supreme.

🤔 I think “Diane” had insecurities from childhood that made her so determined to be seen (or a ⭐️ ). She once talked about how her father had a picture of her and her siblings and labeled her elder sis, Barbara, *”the beautiful one.”* I also think Barb got more attention because she achieved more academically and eventually became a doctor 🥼, causing her dad to act as if Diane’s singing aspirations were subpar. 👎🏾 I think Diana’s dad unknowingly caused her to feel less loved/important, which made her fiercely aggressive when trying to prove that she was just as valuable as her older sister, even if that feeling mainly came from Berry, the industry, and a crowd of people she never knew. 😕🤷🏽‍♀️

She basically threw the other two away And didn't see through getting a realistic inheritance to the children of her professional partner and 1/3 of the tro when she died.. Arrogance and unnecessary self-preservation are nothing to be applauded, particularly at that cost. When she gave herself to Barry he reduced her and Mary Wells to nothing more than background whereas in the beginning, they were an equal trio. Unfortunately every one wants to paint Ross as the bitch in this story because every good story needs one. I think she was wiser than some others. Flo resented Berry, not Diana. As of 1975, Florence described her fallout with Diana as "two sisters having friction". When Flo sued Motown, she made it a point to name Berry Gordy as the main party her attorney must go after. Berry's decision to make Diana lead is what created the friction. She went on record to say Berry was someone who wanted to control you otherwise he'd want nothing to do with you. At first he set his sights on Flo until she consciously or unconsciously rejected him. That's when he turned on her, from taking her lead "People" away from her to making remarks about her weight. All of that was done to spite her, Mary would tell Flo to turn the other cheek until Diana left in 1970 but as you said, Flo was too prideful and outspoken to simply brush off ANY mistreatment. The rest was history after that.

They too had beautiful singing abilities to share Barry Gordy however didn’t let it happen as much as it should have and that was not fair at all! I’m so glad to this day that the Temptations stood there ground that no one is bigger than the group I commend them For that Barry made Diana the chosen supreme! They were romantically linked and that makes a big big difference! Mary chose to put up and shut up we’re Flo wasn’t about to take any crap at all! Diana was the petite one with the big bedroom eyes and Berry was in her crosshair and she dove all the way in with a married man and basically became a diva-bitch. Florence struggled tremendously after Motown released her and just couldn't get her footing. Florence's daughters shouldn't be struggling, but they are and it's a damn shame! Diana will forever live comfortably due to sleeping her way to the top. She obviously didn't care about Berry's wife to do the things she did and Berry definitely caused a lot of other singers hell too that's why Mr. Eddie Kendricks left the Temptations....people need to get real and call the shit for what it was. Hell, her oldest daughter Rhonda is by Berry Gordy.

The most important lesson Mary and Flo didn't understand was the power balance had long shifted to Diana and Berry Gordy got Diana's back. With that power dynamic, it was a no-win situation for the two girls. Mary at least understood what was going on. But in Flo's mind they were still the same three girls from the Detroit projects from 10 years ago. Diana Ross (or "Diane" as she was often referred to by Mary) had long left that little girl from the projects behind. She was now THE DIVA who asked and GOT what she requested. Tragic situation for Mary and Flo, who are now both gone. Diana remains healthy and living her ultra glamorous life

As ambitious as Diana Ross was, she would have gotten herself seen by Berry Gordy through another group or just by herself and Berry always like Diana's voice. She just did it through that group, because she happened to be in that group at the time.

What I can fault Diana Ross and even Mary Wilson for is not talking. Florence Ballard, right or wrong, never hid her feelings. She said exactly how she felt, called everything as she saw it. Diana and Mary did the exact opposite. They didn't talk to each other, really, and Mary would privately agree with some of what Flo was saying but never stand with her when they were with others like Berry Gordy. They stood by and watched Flo just disintegrate when just talking straight up with each other, listening, trying to see where the other girl is coming from, trying to compromise, would have gone a long way and made a difference in all their relationships. Diana clearly knew Flo was unhappy and because Flo was very direct about the cause of her unhappiness, Diana also knew that what she was doing was a part of that. It seemed to matter very little to her. And Mary's feelings seemed unimportant to her as well, as she never talked with her about how she felt about all the changes, and she certainly never consulted Mary or Flo before she made decisions (changing her name to "Diana", for example). They are the ultimate cautionary tale about friendships, honesty, listening, and being empathetic.

The truth is all three girls were too young to really comprehend the dynamics within the group. Meanwhile their record company saw the extraordinary potential of Ross and didn´t know what to do with Wilson and Ballard who were very talented in different ways. For a new black corporation as Motown it was impossible to develop all three Supremes so they concentrated on Ross and it payed off. It´s all history now.

I guess all the people talking negative things about Diana Ross here and everywhere else would reject a good job offer in order to please their friends. Berry Gordy was a businessman first and above all. He knew where the money was and who had the most marketable voice. 12 number one singles with the Supremes and 6 more as a solo artist plus an Oscar nomination and a gazillion of other achievements are proof of that. He believed in her more that she even believed in herself. Business is all about money so, their relationship was second to that. There are trains that only come once in a lifetime. If Diana Ross was a guy, we would be thinking of her as a powerful, important man instead of a bitch. Take that offer, you are not offending anyone. If you don't take it, another person will take it for you. They are not going to feel sorry for you, right? Life is hard so, if someone believes in you, don't deny that opportunity.

Oh no no sweetie, did you forget what happened at Motown 25? Ross PUSHED Mary. And why? Because she wanted them to stay in the back. Which proves that it wasn't berry's doing, it was Ross's doing. That's how she wanted it.. Why wasn't she thrilled to have them singing side by side again? I'll tell you why : because it was all her doing from the very start. A woman with all the star quality that Ross is alleged to possess would never have to hide her bandmates in the background to make herself standout. The fans liked them equally and it killed her that she couldn't have it all to herself. So she started pushing them into the background so that she COULD have it all to herself. And that was the scheme she pulled to stand out. And at the risk of coming off as slightly vulgar, i reckon she'll most certainly stand out once her first-class one-way non-stop flight touches down in that tropical resort kingdom called West Hell, where miss Ross is sure to be heard screeching for forgiveness, along with some high pitched shrieks for dry ice and rock salt to help her to fight off that more permanent type of climate change in her new environment. But those demands will be flatly denied. As she won't be able to have her way there. And if she ever makes the mistake of crawling off into Satan's bed to bang up some preferential treatment, she'll never make that mistake again. His fiery hot lava will do more than fertilize her eggs, it will fry them sunny side up, affording her no love child to be used as barter to get air-conditioning or more cozy and accommodating quarters in the bowels of West Hell. That kind of strategy may have worked for her on planet earth but Satan will have a completely different set of rules for the Doomed Diva to abide by. And in a side note, I strongly suggest she consult her stylist and see if he can find any weaves made of asbestos or any sort of heat retardant material to sew into her tracks. Cuz rumor has it that all human and synthetic hair tend to caramelize much faster upon the heads of it's wearers down there in the pits of West Hell in such a violent and relentless climate. But as I said, she'll certainly get to stand out there, she'll be the hottest thing around, as I have a sneaking suspicion that ol' crafty Satan has got a special fire set at a special temperature just for the likes of the Dirty Diva of Devilish Deeds. Yes our dear and precious Miss Ross thought that she was so slick and conniving for so long. She may have pulled the wool over berry Gordy's eyes, but she'll never out slick her new boss, Satan. Satan invented slickery and devilry. She can't play her little come on games with him. In fact, if my Bible study lessons serve me correctly, it states: "think not that you are craftier than Satan upon your arrival into his dark kingdom. Any attempt to seduce Satan, will bring about great howling and gnashing of teeth upon insertion". Especially if she resorts to her earthly stunt of spread-eagling for material gain.. A heartless creature of Satan's demeanor will have not one iota of guilt or sympathy for her. She won't be able to use it to manipulate her way into cooler accommodations in hell and that's for sure. She made a deal with the devil in those long but not forgotten days of Motown and now the time has come to honor the contract. There's no reneging on this agreement. The stipulations were that Satan would give her the music world on a silver platter in exchange for her integrity, self respect and the loyalty that she should have kept for her friends.

I didn't see HER in the documentary--nor do I see her fighting to get artists their royalties from the 1960's until 1972---did see Smokey Robinson , Dionne Warwick--other artists--oh and MARY Wilson on Capitol Hill fighting for artists rights---but yep--she is a STAR--gotta give her that one--oh and let me add this here--I wonder did Diana make a contribution to Supreme Faith--for Cindy Birdsong's medical expenses..Nope I am not bashing her--just stating some facts...

That is not true. Diana Ross cannot draw large crowds . At the Essence Festival a year or so ago, her show had the lowest attendance of all artists that participated. If she sold a lot of tickets at the Hollywood Bowl, then there must have been a high number of gay people in the vicinity. She's in an oldies act.

Well there you have it 😁 Ross was a pis of work. ( treacherous, scheming, a spy, demanding, fake ass, sleeping with the boss and lying! ) There is a catalog of other choice words I could use. It is well documented how she was. Other artists have said she was at times a conniving @?%$. I put this all down to Rosses insecurity and immature. Ross her self said she was a bitch back then. There will be Queens out there who were not even born when this group started out and will defend Rosses behaviour insisting she made the group. ( a joke! ) It is good to be ambitious but to play with other people lives achieving that goal. NO! RIP Flo 🙏

Exactly! I couldn't have said it better. Her fans (especially the gay ones) are the worst. They would justify her behavior and it sickens me. I wonder what her feminist daughter Tracee Ellis Ross thinks about her mother's past behavior towards other women? P. S. I am gay myself just in case people think I am a homophobe for calling out Diana's toxic gay fans.

Book excerpt: HARVEY FUQUA Formerly of the group The Moonglows, Harvey Fuqua brought Marvin Gaye to Motown and became one of the most important figures in the success of the company as a producer. After leaving Motown, he had a strong hand in guiding the career of Sylvester, and returned to work with Gaye on his comeback album, Midnight Love. An active philanthropist, Fuqua passed in 2010. HARVEY FUQUA :"There was definitely tension about how much work was being heaped on Diana, but the fact is that she always rose to the occasion. There just wasn’t any limit to what she could do. The other fact is that Mary and Flo-and I loved them-but the fact is that they were not workers. They would be at rehearsals late or unprepared. Here’s what I mean. We could give Diana three songs to learn, and we could give Mary and Flo one to learn. The next day, Diana’d have them down, but Mary and Flo would not have mastered the one song. Diana was the ideal working partner. She had the talent to do absolutely anything. "

@DivaNdreaDz Thank you for your contribution to this page. Mr. Fuqua's statement echos many others of successful Motown legends, as well as outside producers, directors, choreographers, etc. Here's a quote from Cholly Atkins, legendary Motown choreographer(as featured in the Ross biography, "Diana Ross:THE American Dreamgirl", by Tom Adrahtas), regarding the preparations for The Supremes' first Copa engagement: "There was a lot of dancing, and a lot of complaining, mostly from Florence, who felt that the choreography was unnatural. There was a hat trick at the end of one of the production numbers, "Rockaby Your Baby with A Dixie Melody", that Diana had a helluva time with. She went out and bought a practice hat and, every time I turned around, she was in the corner somewhere, practicing this hat trick to the point that she learned it so well, she could do it in her sleep."

How do you know? Mary Wilson is still a headliner today and plays pretty the same or similar venues that Diana Ross plays. You Diana Ross fans make me laugh because you want everyone to think that she was more special and worked harder than Florence Ballard and Mary Wilson which I and others know isn't true. She was just the lead singer, singing lyrics that were written for the groups songs and taught to her. Mary and Florence had to learn all the background vocal parts as well as the individual choreography devised for each song. That takes a lot of work as well. Diane was the bosses girlfriend so we know she did not have to work harder than the others. It took the complete focus and resources of Motown Records to make her a star. I did not say it.....Berry Gordy did! He went further to day that he did it out of love because he never even broke even on Diana Ross' recordings. The fact that she was allowed to make so many recordings does not in anyway mean that she was more talented than Mary and Flo or any of the women at Motown.

And.. these type's of arguments (comments) is how the Surpremes broke up....one thinking the other is better and more deserving than the other. But I would have loved to have seen them together. Money, Power and fan base has alot to do with who feels they deserve the biggest Star. Diana just happened to want fame more than the other girls and was willing to do whatever it takes to have it. It was fun to the other girls and a great way to make a living doing what you love to do.. singing with your friends. They couldn't understand why Diana was so driven and hungry. Didn't make her a bad person.. just a person that had her own agenda and they were not included. As the saying goes nothing personal... just buisness... happens with alot of groups. I'm sure they all look back with some regrets and sadness regarding their choses in regards to the Supremes. They were truly a Supreme Act!!!👩🏽‍🎤👩🏽‍🎤👩🏽‍🎤

She knew smokey and convinced him to get the group an audition. Berry rejected them but she kept going to Motown on the weekends, worked there during the summer and was in his face everyday until he signed them. She was the only one who took the finishing school seriously. Never took vacations and was always ready. She was determined to be successful.

Diana NEVER had no child by no Smokey Robinson--and truly not Michael Jackson--any body can see he looks like his parents--especially Joe. Diana's FIRST child was Rhonda and trust me Diana was well over 14 when she had her. Folks need to stop making up stuff like this. Diana Ross didn't run the group on her own, not that early in her career. What you fail to see is that Flo was jealous, right or wrong, and Mary followed. Barry did that to establish control of the group, but more so of Diana Ross so that she would follow his vision. Remember, they were friends so keeping them together could influence Diana Ross and that would have adverse impact on Berry's vision. He didn't have to separate the girls so that Diana Ross could go solo; he could have done that earlier.

Diana Ross was not running the Motown label. It seems as if she gets blamed for everything that happened at Motown with the Supremes and other artist. Diana Ross was seen as a unique voice and talented beyond words. Berry Gordy saw these qualities and made Diana the lead of the group. It seems like some people are envious of her star power and thats simply wrong. Give Diana credit for her talent and vocal abilities. Diana had no attitude. She's just a girl who spoke her mind. I have a lot of respect for Diana Ross..." -Gladys Horton, lead singer of The Marvelettes *Of course, no one in the show is willing to hold Florence Ballard accountable for her contribution to her misery. *Mary Wilson "bit her tongue" until that person's back was turned, according to Florence Ballard. *Diana Ross HAD to get her own dressing room, as the other two were treating her spitefully. *Milton Jenkins(manager of The Primes), not Florence Ballard, founded The Primettes. *Florence Ballard was NEVER the group's leader. Initially, the group shared leads, until Mr. Gordy took the necessary step of making Diana Ross the group's permanent lead singer. *Ross and Gordy didn't hook up until June, 1965, one full year following his divorce from his second wife and after the group had five number one hits, according to both his and Wilson's autobiographies.

Flo's situation was not the fault of Diana Ross and lets not forget it was she who set up education funds for Flo's daughters. Mary made a career of bashing Diana Ross. I understand it because she needed to keep the fans interested in The Supremes, so she had to fuel this one-sided feud between her and Diana Ross. I love the fact that in all of these years Diana has refused to entertain all of the negativity.

If you watch the “entire” Reelz episode of “Breaking the band” you would have a different perspective of Diana. Flo was the lead singer of the Supreme’s for 6 years & not one song made the charts just as the Temptations. Barry made an executive decision & switched Diana to lead same with David Ruffin & the record sale soared! The jealousy & probably mixed with ego caused the division but for 6 years they had top chart hits with Diana. Flo unfortunately could not handle the fact that she was not the lead regardless of the success with Diana leading, she wanted to sabotage the success with drinking, not showing up to gigs, poking her stomach out to appear overweight etc..it would either be the demise of the group or replace her. Now in my opinion if she felt she should’ve been the lead, move on start another group because though she started this group as “The Primettes” Barry owned the name “Supremes”. If her voice had the ability to sale she could’ve been just as successful solo or in another female group. She did make a few songs to my understanding after leaving the Supremes that didn’t make the charts. Not to throw shade or disrespect the dead nor discredit her voice but but but! If it was Diana’s voice that took the group to the top & ya’ll eating & are successful why let jealousy or the need to be in lead destroy everything you worked for. Maybe she did change to a Diva but all 3 of you were in your own right. She knew it was her voice that changed the game & she took her spot like it or hate it, there would be no success without Diana taking the lead period!

They all sang lead for those first few years. Some of the songs Diana sung lead on weren’t successful either. Berry just felt she had a more commercial sound so he made her lead and he made HDH write songs specifically to suit her voice. Berry specifically wanted to destroy Florence after she turned him down. He literally said “I’m gonna break that bitch”. He is a cruel man. Even Diana said in her book that he was emotionally abusive. He went too far. And Flo was not equipped to deal with that abuse.

I love all the Supremes. They were 3 talented ladies. They are still the number one girl group of all times as of 2018. 1. Some had more talent in movies and singing, while others had more talent in writing best selling books. 2. Of course Diana Ross got the big head when she was lead singer. It is well documented that she got Gladys Knight and the Pips thrown off a tour headlining the Supremes. Why? because Gladys was upstaging the final act. She was throwing down and the crowd was going crazy. Other incidents are written in "All that Glittered, My life with the Supremes" by Tony Turner. DR got many people fired when you pissed her off. Even when the fault was really her fault. Read the incidents with her dogs in his book. 3. Later on Diana apologized to Gladys saying...(paraphrasing)" I was young and very insecure. We all had to grow up" meaning that human spirits come to earth to learn lessons in love. The spirits evolve, expand, and grow up to a Christ-like consciousness. The meaning of life is simple...LOVE. Love is the fulfillment of the Law. 4. Tony spills the tea on all 3 women. he called Mary the Motown Ho because she slept with White married men who did nothing to help further he career. Tom Jones, Steve McQueen, etc. Maybe she was young and naive.. 5.. He applauds Diana Ross who went after men who could help her career. Guys like Smokey Robinson, one of the Holland Dozier guys, etc. This man's wife came down to the studio to beat Dr's butt and Florence had to step in to protect skinny Diana. Then later on DR landed the Biggest Fish, Berry Gordy. Gordy had many affairs with other women at Motown. That's in the book also. 6. Unfortunately Berry Gordy , who is 15 years older than Diana, decided he would concentrate most of his energy and money on developing Diana's talent. He decided he would not allow Florence and Mary to sing any leads on the B sides of the hit records. 7. Naturally, Florence and Mary were hurt. Florence decided to act out and challenge the boss. Wrong move. Gordy fired her. 7. Mary handled this very well even though she was young. She kept quiet and made no waves. Where else could a young black girl make that kind of money and have that kind of exposure. She decided she would ride this train until it stopped. Smart move on her part. 8. Mary made lemonade out of the lemons she was given. She is worth at least 8 Million dollars. Not bad for a young black girl growing up in the projects. I am sure she had more fun doing this than working in an office. 9. Diana had the most singing talent and became an icon. Hopefully by now, Diana has apologized to others like she did to Gladys Knight.

Well said. I like that you were pretty objective too. I'm a Diana fan but I know she's no angel especially when she was younger she surely was a piece of work but she did have the talent and drive to be a star. There's no short cut for hard work and I can't remember who it was, but someone who worked on "Motown" was interviewed a few years ago and said that Diana was the hardest working person at "Motown". She earned her fame and success. I love Mary and Flo too and I do feel bad for what they went through especially Flo, but let's be honest, Diana had more of an "it" factor than either. The group wouldn't have been as such if anyone other than Diana was lead singer.

But however, no one is perfect, it doesn't mean Diana, neither even Mary were 100% innocent, everyone had a part to play in this, including Berry Gordy himself. But I hope when I see the full story, it's not a load of conjured up BS that is pretty much been put together to cause more conspiracies and fake facts. Diana landed the group’s major hit with “Where did our love go”, which Eddie Holland favored Mary to sing (AS IT WAS IN A LOWER KEY). Yet, Lamont Dozier, Brian Holland, & Berry favored Diana. Diana did not even want to record that song, but WAS FORCED. It was a hit for her in 1964. That’s when Eddie started to come around for he WITNESSED Diana SING THAT SONG PROPERLY without even trying. That’s when he realized & began to think she also should be the lead, esp. when those consecutive hits came that were modeled in similar style. It was all about executing Berry’s vision with the POP sound and a versatile sound, which no other Black female artist really had (esp. Flo); so definitely not Flo or Mary. By 1969 Berry Gordy will delivered Diane Ross her solo career, followed in the 1970's by three Hollywood movie roles, LSTB, Mahogany and The Wiz. After that their welcome in Hollywood was overstated and Diane's acting became Television roles. Where movie stars go to fade away.

Everybody says that Diana Ross worked hard so why is that no one has a great story to say about her from Gladys Knight Patti LaBelle Wilson Pickett etc... she was a backstabber and for herself. All of this she was a hard worker is cute but when she played out of bounds like sleeping with the boss cause that was not a relationship especially when the boss is married you can’t do those things especially when you are in a group that has three lead singers. She railroad her friends used them to make her a star and didn’t reach back. And now because of Diana Ross the supremes legacy is tainted due to her mistakes that she knows she tainted. But it’s no different now with black people we quick to jump for crossover success to be accepted by white folks fuck crossing over there is power in the black dollar . If she was so it at the time of the supremes she should’ve left in the 60s don’t use your used to be friends for your own success simple. Everybody on here talking about how this and that she was then why not leave and do your thang and let the supremes do what they have to do but Diana wasn’t going to do that cause if Florence’s or Mary took lead and the hits would’ve kept coming Diana wouldn’t have been able to sustain a solo career. Niggas got that bad just to be accepted by white folks and when it’s all said and done they still see us for color as it is showing in 2019 with this asshole of a president. So kill all that crossover shit

Anthony Smith exactly! So many people don't want to call Diana what she was or possibly still is and that's a bitch. She got so high and mighty that she treated Florence and Mary like peasants. She should have the best of everything, she did screw around with Berry and eventually had his baby. Diana's oldest daughter is by Berry Gordy and her name is Rhonda Ross-Kendricks.

I think so too. Something about her seems sneaky. when Diana left the Supremes she would still go to their concerts and support them and promote them in her interviews. when Mary did her first solo concert Diana was sitting right in the front row holding Mary's baby while she performed on stage. She even helped Mary financially...soooo I always thought Mary's behavior was odd.

@@thomasstafford7313 It's been well documented that Diana got equal pay to the others, and never a cent more, despite the fact that she worked a whole load harder than the others. Martha Reeves said that "no one worked harder than Ross" and this was echoed by many at Motown. When she left Gordy and Motown she wasn't even rich because Diana, like all the other artists there, was robbed of millions by Gordy, and he even took back gifts that he'd given to her.

Diana Ross was, is and will forever be The Supreme Supreme and OG Diva. Period, point blank. Berry Gordy said it himself. It was through Diana Ross that he was able to achieve every dream he had for Motown from prestigious clubs like the Copa, to Broadway, to Television all the way up til the silver screen. Diana Ross is a legend and I'm thankful for her life and career. She inspires me personally as well as millions of others around the world.

When Berry Gordy tried to bring the Supremes back to the Copa without Flo, the Copa owner - Jules Podell - wouldn't even allow them go on stage without Flo. They had to bring her back. And thats a fact. I didn't only read this in the thousands of Supremes books I read in my younger days. I read this in a post from a relative of Mr. Podell, telling people how he loved Florence, loved her singing, thought she was hilarious with great comedic timing and loved that she was gorgeous and sexy.

CeeCee, that is exactly true and thank you! These "Diana Ross fans only" either don't know or forgot that the public fell in love with THREE Supremes , not one. That is why the Supremes are one of few groups where each one was well known by their name. When Florence died it was Worldwide news. It was the same thing when Mary Wilson had that tragic accident. The Supremes will always be bigger than Diana Ross solo artist.

@Cee Cee Tracey Jules Podell wanted the exact same three girls who wowed his club the first time, regardless of who they were. This is very common in show business. Had Miss Barlow performed at the first run of shows, he'd have demanded she return for the second. Had he "loved" Ballard so much, he would have given her a solo show at The Copacabana after she left the group, as he ran the club until 1973. He didn't. I guess he, or the audience, didn't "love" ballard as much as they profess.

If either of them had sung lead on any of their 12 number ones they would have flopped.
