Diana Krall has had a long time fascination with bossa nova, a type of music which perfectly suits her sophisticated yet sensual style. This culminated in her new studio album Quiet Nights (released by Verve in spring 2009) and in this stunning concert filmed in the home of the bossa nova, Rio de Janeiro, in November 2008. Accompanied by her band and an orchestra, Diana Krall delivers a superb set of standards in true bossa nova style but clearly bearing her unique stamp.

This is a great version of a classic song.... I love the audience participation and to see it bring a smile to her face shows the connection.
the song just takes off to it's own universe when audience continues overlaping with harmony over her voice... sublime!

Brazil has the most beautiful people on the planet, we are the best audience in the whole world to. These people are amazing.
No matter how many times I watch this specific video, I get the biggest chuckle out of the crowd singing. That is soooooo cooool.
I liked how she deferred to the audience to make a bridge with her hosts. They graciously walked with her through the lyrics and She did a nice job of 'landing that plane. Not an easy thing to do.

Diana Krall is one of the most gifted and talented musicians to play jazz in the modern era. People talk about Frank Sinatra‘s gift of timing and ability to get inside a song. Krall is up there with him on the same plane. She digs deep and tells us things about songs like no one else can. Tabris Chen I agree. I have listened to this recording 100 times. Diana Krall is a phenomenal singer. I really liked the audience singing. I speak French as a second language. Portuguese is supposedly once of the romance languages (latin based). If it is, I can never see any similarities with it to French or Spanish. Although, I Googled the lyrics from this song and found a spot where it had the English and Portuguese lyrics side by side. What these people sang, I couldn't see in the lyrics that showed on the website.

Read Portuguese before making such a comment. It's more similar to Italian and Spanish than French is sound wise. Written they are all very similar. The sounds of Portuguese (both from Brazil & Portugal) have sounds that are not present in the other languages. Hence why you do not pick up on it.

@@kmpcpa O português foi a última das línguas românicas. E a pronúncia do português do Brasil é muito diferente do português falado em Portugal. Portuguese was the last of the romance languages. And the pronunciation of Brazilian Portuguese is very different from that spoken in Portugal. Greetings from Brazil.
She's fantastic - the audience is fantastic!!! I wish I were there... Great atmosphere! Only Brazilians can have something like this! They do not care about what is right or wrong according to stupid international social rules - they ENJOY themselves! Wish I could be like this ... life is so short...

Diana Krall...pure passion and the most soulful spirit in jazz music...could listen to her all day thats how much i admire her as an artist....
I'm 44 when I was growing up my father introduced me to JAZZ....George Shearing,Toots Thielmans all of it and I appreciate it so much. He's gone now but I have the beauty of remembering his love everytime I hear JAZZ.....r.i.p dad.

Spent a week in Salvador where my wife lived as a teen. The city throbbed with polyrthymic percussion. We saw a street concert by Olodum, we watched young men dance the capoeria. Even at a restaurant, a waiter was carrying an empty milk carton back to the kitchen, tapping out a nice beat on it as he walked. No people know musical timing as well as Brazilians -- No One. They can clap to the music anytime they want. Because they CAN.
