When I first saws this in 1999, I just had my third open heart surgery to replace my aortic heart valve. I was 11,5 years old. As a child you received only a very small amount of pain killers. So it was about 23:00 , I was in pain, had hoses out of my body and my dad brought me a small satellite television. And then I lay in my bed, in pain , and she came on television. Making the pain bearable and opening my world to jazz. What a great memory! Thanks for uploading this!

I’ve followed her for years, but , she is so amazing, live. Like she’s having a conversation with you , her voice and style are incomparable 😊❤️🥰

Her feelings are so deep in a song that jazz is the only way to present it. I have never heard such a passionate singer of jazz. This 74 year old grandma loves her songs. And that piano is just an extension of her voice.

I had a cd given for my Christmas a few years ago from my daughter and she was even more wonderful with her interpretation of all the old love songs and this ninety two years old was singing along with her she made me feel so good about myself

l _LOVE_ her! l grew up listening to my dad's jazz in the 70's, and when l first heard her play n sing l was _stunned!_ There's something about her expressions, and Her countenance that can grab, and keep one's attention! She enunciates her words, and surprises with tone changes that are unique to her alone! She has a romantic way about her. Especially when her eyelids close halfway! OH! And she's a FANTASTIC musician with AMAZING influences! Bravo Diana! Another Canadian mega talent!

Class, beauty, a great singing voice, and an extraordinary pianist. Diana Krall has it all. Gentlemen, we have finally discovered the perfect woman.

Not a great singing voice,and insipid

It’s been awhile since I’ve listened to Diana Krall. But this hard driving, swinging set makes me wonder why I ever stopped listening. Great classic songs and a super-talented group of musicians, along with Krall’s signature vocals, interpretations and musicality.

Diana Krall keeps her expressions fantastically jazzy and beyond! She's in fabulously creative form, here. What a gift!

Brilliant pianistic performance. Her knowledge and application of historical jazz concepts is staggering. She shows great respect for the jazz pianists who came first, yet she is ultra creative with her own musical ideas. Amazing talent.

Hi! I know that your comment is 5 years old, but I'm very curious about what you said. Can you give me some hints to feel that what you wrote about? I know that this is huge topic and demand hundreds/thousands hours of listening jazz but maybe you can give any guidance?:)

Diana Krall constitutes the whole package. Exquisitely talented, beautiful and clearly in charge.

I was there for this and it was the first time I had seen Diana. Been in love ever since!

Diana Krall never disappoints. She seems, however, very self-conscious as she walks to the piano. Don't worry, Diana, like I said, you won't disappoint. I also love that she sings so many standards. Well, they're called standards for a reason, right?

Some days I wish I was Elvis Costello.....

Diana what a phenomenal women, pianist,singer, artist, ... the energy passing through this atomic physical being is just too much !

This is the first time I've seen her live. Listening to her recordings with that beutiful,smooth,seductive voice gave me the impression that she was a laid back chanteuse. Then when she walked on stage her awkward gait blew that image away & she turns out to be a major surprise. She is so real and played with such a down to earth presence that I couldn't believe it was the same woman. Loved this spirited live side of Diana.

Twenty years on she can still do it don’t go anywhere with out her music she and her crew kill it

I only recently discovered this amazingly talented woman! She rose to top quickly. Beautiful, talented, sensual and one of a kind.

What amazing piano playing!!

I saw her in Kettering Ohio, 2004..., playing as a Tornado passed near by. Her sheet Music was later found in Kansas, Her and the Piano were the only things left on stage and she didn't miss a note . The sounds and sight were surreal. No Fans left that outdoor show..., till it was over.

I saw her in Rio, Jobim's land, with the same group of Paris and a local orchestra. It was incredible, wonderful.

One of my very favorite jazz singers. She's also such an incredible piano player! Every time I watch this video I have to laugh when she scolds the guy with the binoculars. She is just "so real" and down to earth.

Ms. Krall has the one of most unpretentious, organic voices I have ever heard. With her rich, sultry tone, any type of vocal gymnastics is superfluous and frankly would hurt her performance.

My al time favorite female artist never get tired listen to her voice.

My Dad's favorite musician was Oscar Peterson. I got my love of Jazz from my Dad. I wish he'd lived long enough to hear Diana Krall. I'm sure he would have loved her too, and we could have jammed together.

She starts right off like a real jazz musician, which she is. He piano playing and singing are both excellent.

When I was a kid in the forties & fifties we had radio and sometimes my day would sit in the living room and play his guitar and my mom might harmonize some songs with him. Weekends maybe a friend would visit and there would be a lot of conversation, singing, playing. When I was about 13 or 14 I'd listen to the radio quietly as I fell asleep in bed; Club Hangover on Bush above Powell ( the announcer would say - San Francisco, 95 miles north) and it would be Kid Ory, Jack Teagarden, Ralph Sutton, and lots of Dixieland musicians. The seeds of music get planted early.

@@nemo227 I can only say how important all of those people were ; and I like your story a lot . As I read it I was able to see and hear what you experienced . How lucky that ( I'm assuming ) that all humans have similar stories !...again I say and I'm really happy that everyone on this planet has stories like ours .Then there's the travel ,which is still as important ,the friends , parents- it goes on and on...I hope the future has such repetition for everyone with less politics and obstacles .

That's one of the mysteries about the people we pass on the sidewalk and the people on the internet . . . we rarely hear or read about their stories (and everyone has real life stories).

What a talented grump! Refreshing, actually. I was working at Avatar when she was doing a record with Al Schmidt. It was in the late spring of ‘96, I think. He had those duel-concentric Tannoys up on the bridge. It was a great vibe in there. She has always been mesmerizing.

She is oh so cool! pretty good piano player too.

Oh please. At best she is a middling jazz player, and has very little stage presence. Playing jazz standards in an uncreative way is not that impressive.

Wow -- her recording "I've got you under my skin" has long been just about my favorite --- watching her sing it on a windy stage in such a sterile setting and make it so ---- intimate (sexy?) as the wind plays with her hair -- seeing how she lost herself in the moment which was the song -- just amazing -- this is a great video -- it shows things about her that are very nice and comfortable

Without that bottle-blond hair and make-up, with her long face she's NOT pretty, but her producers try to sell sex, we've notice on a lot of her sites! She's a good jazz pianist and we like her low voice, reminiscent of Julie London a bit. I'll bet she smokes though!

Wonderfull Performance

Diana didn't start singing until like in her twenties. A low voice was not as accepted and she wasn't encouraged. But she's a real total musician and brings it!!! Just think if there's something you have started yet, go for it man, who knows? I love this band. Everyone is there for the music and they all look so PLEASANT. Of course that's what a Canadian would naturally have. The guitarist Peter is great and as one myself when i see the wind blowing I give a little shiver because it's hard to keep the blood flowing to the fingers. Look closely at Peter's fingers, that redness tells a story. Check out his solo in Lost Mind and Diana turning around with a big smile. 29 minutes in.

I love Irene Kral and Diana Krall. Would Jazz fm, where I listen most of the time, please play more of both of them. For a live performance, this is really wonderful. She is not only absolutely gorgeous, but what a wonderful musician. on Jazz fm.

Time flies. 1999 I was at Newport Jazz to catch Diana Krall-- a grand bonus to watch and hear for the first time Peter Bernstein. Arguably, Diana's best hired guitar-slinger.

Love it,! At the beginning you notice a few bubbles float up in front of the group. So much for the Lawrence Welk affect.

What a slow build to the killing it taste of real meat between show play lists, to bring everyone forward with attention to their individual skills, mentality quotient-the-moment on a long boring unintentional tourist kinda way.
