ABOUT -This was the press-release for the concert:
For many people in the fifties the music of Dave Brubeck was some sort of introduction to jazz. His music was accessible, fresh and very popular. He was admired for his own inimitable style: the block chords, the asymmetrical metres (5/4, 9/8) and the angular syncopated timing. The critics highly praised his first avant-garde ensemble, the Dave Brubeck Octet in San Francisco. The hit Take Five, composed by band member Paul Desmond, proved to be a turnaround. While millions of copies of Brubeck’s LP Time Out were sold, the critics scorned this ‘music for cocktail parties’. Miles Davis, Gerry Mulligan, Louis Armstrong and Charles Mingus, who were always loud in praise of Brubeck, put some heart into him. Brubeck is a living legend in his late eighties, who still proves to be an extremely lyrical musician.

The fact Brubeck could still play at this level in his mid 80s is incredible. It’s sad that almost all of the people from his generation are gone now.

Man that's another fellow playing Alto I couldn't find Dave Brubeck hit in one note on the whole album or whatever it's supposed to be. Let me know if I'm wrong!

It's too bad that a LOT of music listeners don't care for jazz. I live in North-Central Wisconsin where jazz is only played (occasionally) on a PBS station. These "obtuse" listeners don't know what they are missing.
Old musicians never die, they just turn the page!
The man, the legend. Nothing better than Dave and his boys!

I saw Jimi Hendrix and Chicago Transit Authority in Charleston, WV, in June 1970. It's a shame that I didn't know about Dave's quartet playing there during the same time period. I was already transitioning to jazz at the time. As a drummer, I've always place Joe Morello at the top of my list. How could anyone not love Joe?
Thank you @North Sea Jazz Archive ❤👍
These songs will resonate forever

They sure ARE resonating with me! A week doesn't go by when I don't pull out one of his "mono vinyl" albums and immerse myself in WONDERFUL jazz music!
Everybody sounds great full stop. And Michael Moore has to be one of the most underrated jazz soloists ever. Pure music that transcends the instrument he plays both pizz and with the bow.

This sax player is the real deal; his off kilter lazy loopy phrases evoke Bird without being imitations.

Faboulous 🏹 One of the best things I inherited from my father, “listening to Dava Brubeck”. 🪂
Talent like Brubeck's never ends - he was 84 years young at this time!! Still playing in the heavenly realms, I'm sure!!
Ouvir é opção, mas o like é obrigatório!
Getting along in years aren't they? I do so Miss the Phenomenal Artistry of the original, Paul Desmond, and Drummer Joe Morello.

Absolutely fantastic.
Great production. Nice to see Dave's still at it.
Vous êtes des gens heureux. Vous nous rendez heureux. Keep on walking on the sunny side of the street ❤
"Elegie" est un véritable bijou. J'adore
I just turned 80. I can still play some of the transcriptions that his brother published. Like "The Duke" I hope I can still play at 84.
Um Jazz sob o domínio de especialistas!
I just found this band and now I can't stop playing their songs they are so amazing
Wonderful music❤❤❤
I still like to listen to his "vinyl" albums even the (monophonic versions) prior to 1958. Dave was immensely popular in the '50s, almost a household word! I was very saddened upon hearing of his passing in 2012. R.I.P.
Simply said just "Awesome".

🥰🥰🥰🥰😊😊😊😊
Alto sound and the approach just doesn't fit in there does it ?
I live close to the Newport jazz festival, and have to tell you this crowd is nothing like the one Brubeck played for in 1960, when the fans rushed the stage and burned the piano. Why would you burn an innocent piano? Let’s just hope it wasn’t a bosendorfer. Oscar Peterson on a bosendorfer piano…WOW
