Funnily enough, Baradun fully knows he is an NPC in a video game and acknowledges it, Greg knows but doesn't refer to it. Bailen understands he has a predetermined route that he travels but I don't think he knows that its because of his programming limitations. Bodger is completely unaware that he is an NPC.

Excellent synopsis! Thank you!!

I think you could have put the full stop after "unaware" - Bodger is completely unaware - lol

I think he knows just as much as Greg, there's an episode in a further season that hints at it. Spoilers below: He and Greg have a competition to see who has the biggest quest marker, they keep inflating the exclamation mark. So at least he knows he's a quest giver. In fact, in the latest season (DG has reacted to one of these episodes, but there are more) we see that a lot of NPCs are aware, and use adventurers to do their bidding.

@@tarekmoneimsaid That doesn't mean Bodger is self aware, from his perspective being able to create quest markers for players with names above their heads is a natural part of their world. Baradun is the only one who mentions quest giving and experience and etc. Greg refused to acknowledge he knows as much as baradun because he just wants to be happy in his little npc world. Take the episode where his copy returns from a quest and disappears when the quest is turned in for example: he treats it as if its actual loss and doesn't really consider that its part of the program or the one where a player is doing photo mode and greg is confused by all the photo mode options.

That and in NPC D&D in an episode DG has yet to watch it is clearly stated that Baradun is the only one who fully realizes he's an NPC in a video game.
I love how Baradun passive aggressively slandars Honeywood every time he appears.

VLDL fan here. Got into watching you when I saw one of your Epic NPC Man reactions. If you've ever met Eugene then you knew that Adam was going to win that high pitched voices contest lol.

Hope to make you a DG360 fan too :) We started making this more a variety channel so check it out and all the new playlists ;) You might find something else you like to watch with us ;)
Greg is self aware from the beginning. As are some other NPCs, Baradun for example. And the blacksmith. Oh and Bailyn also, at least to some extent.

My headcanon is that you know Greg was self aware (possibly it was not long before he become self-aware) from the first episode, because he was rehearsing his normal "welcome to the town of Honeywood" dialogue, as if he was capable and afraid of making a mistake. AKA, he was aware of his own dialogue and felt enough fear or anxiety that he felt the need to practice his lines, showing he was aware of who he was, that his dialogue wasn't necessarily set in stone, and that he had independent thought about himself and his role in this world.
My interpretation from watching a bunch of episodes is the characters don’t quite know they’re in a game (though there was that one character that knows they disappear when away from adventures and is freaked out about it), but some are generally sentient and aware of how their world and how it works, probably a lot more than the developers realize. They seem to usually be the ones that have freer abilities to speak. I’ve seen Greg totally confused when adventures talk about configurations and he cannot see them when the players do, but I’ve seen him notice patch notes in the sky when the game updates. I saw one commenter suggest Baelin feels like a leftover character from beta because he is so restricted in what he can do, especially in what he can say. But on the flip side, it feels like the developers left him almost invincible as well. I’ve never seem him hurt and he can defend himself like an expert. Anyway, those are my two cents; your opinion may vary. No matter how you interpret it, though, it’s entertaining as heck.

Howick Historical village is a cool place to go here in Auckland, New Zealand to see how people lived back in the day. The buildings were moved there to create the village. I have been there a few times. Many schools do school trips there where the staff of the village dress up in period accurate clothing and act out what the people of the mid 1800’s to early 1900s did. I remember a school trip there where we used a double sided saw to cut tree logs then made scones over fire. Other times I have been I have toured the buildings learning more about the history!

Oh that's awesome! Thank you for telling us the story!
The Bucket Exploit is real in Skyrim :) You can drag the physics object over their heads and it actually blocks the NPCs vision.

Started following you 1 month ago. I've enjoyed the ride, and I've seen the improvement you've made. Keep going mate 👍
Imagine if life was literally like this XD
Side note: if you love Diablo 1 and 2, you should try Path of Exile. Its what Diablo 3 should have been)
Have you seen their early music videos? I love this crew and they just keep getting better. Poor Britt, will she ever get some legit armor?

@@DG360 - I feel her pain…lol. Going to start calling my bra “The Breastplate of Smargenrock”. They did a recent video where Britt is added into the game as “Greta The Garlic Farmer”, Greg’s wife. A real tear jerker. Hope they make a film out of the story, a’la Baelin’s Route.
Wait until you watch Greg the garlic farmer in Epic NPC Man - Broken
