Wow John, what an amazing collection of amplifiers that you have collected. I too would have a few more amplifiers if my wife could could cope with it and if I had deeper pockets. I am however very happy with the sound of the amplifiers that I do have.. I’m saving up for a pair of 0/96 speakers and also a Denafrips DAC for the digital side of my main system. I very much enjoy watching your KZread videos, so thanks for making them.

That was quite interesting to see all the amps you use in developing. From megawatt to single digit watt. Great video. I was so please as well to see my old Solen/Ensemble B50 Tiger that I sold you back in the early 2000's. That amp was one of my all time favorites and made great music with my Vandy 2CI's and Alon Model 1's for over 10 years in my system. I regret selling that but I am happy it's found a place in your amp museum. I'm hoping to get a pair of O/93s sometime in the near future which makes this a small world.

I'm with you on the A21 - I have one as my main amp and it's a great all-rounder - very nicely controlled and pretty transparent. Pre is the Moon 390 with the Martin Logan CLS11A's and REL Storm sub. I love that amp - it's been a joy to live with. I've also got a pair of Lumley Reference M120 tube monoblocks which are also 4x 6550's per channel but they have been pretty flakey during the years that I've owned them but do sound nice. The plate voltage is slightly over the design limits for the 6550's so a long-term project is to replace them with KT90's.

I don't know anyone who's heard it. Simply based on the tech--I'd guess they sound quite different. The Air Tight, SET 300B vs KT150 push-pull is a fairly big difference. Not to say the Jadis isn't excellent--it likely is, just not necessarily comparable.

hello, i am a lowly stereo tube amp builder and seller. i specialize in the low powered, low dollar se console ironed type amps. i source darn near everything online. i abide by the minimalist philosophy of building, less is more in dealing with tube amps. meaning the simpler the circuit, the more "pure" the sound is. i like many a console amp. zenith is great, imo the best of the affordable american console amps. anything european is fabulous, which can be found for very little money. i build all my own cables, ac cords, etc. ive found anything ive made generally sounds better than anything that can be bought. the hi end audio market is such a scam, it really dosent take expensive stuff to sound great. all my console type amps are right around 400$. i cant bring myself to sell a name. i sell it for what it is. i hope to maybe of gained a correspondent and a friend. thanks Nick B.

Yeeeees Air Tight 300B SE - gourgous amp, and absolutely awesome one of its kind build quality. Air Tight and Shindo are the Japanese amps to own. I think a 845SE is an amp every loudspeaker developer must own, if a speaker does not work with an 845 then there is something fundamentally wrong in the speaker design. If you care about transistor amps and you have the chance then listen to the Cello Encore (the smallest 50 Watts) developed by the real Mark Levinson (not the brand) and the 2nd hot tip if you ever have the chance to hear a FM Acoustic (Swiss former studio developer) FM300A is a 90s power amp somewhere in the 50 Watts area too. They are so good you'll bend your knee. ;-) Oh an both sound more like a tube amp than many modern KT88PP and EL34PP designs ;-)

Hold on a second, I looked up the prices of your picks and ended up in disbelief. The cost is ridiculous for the average audiophile. Are there build it yourself kits to save thousands? I designed and build my own microphones. The quality is up there with Neumann high end quality.
