This isnt hard guys. Matt is really strong in that one specific lane. When they practice, Devon let’s him go there or doesn’t have the ability to force the hook. Matt is losing because these other pullers have the ability to force him out of his one lane. The playbook is out on him. If Devon and Matt started in a hook, it would look exactly the same as all his loses recently, Matt’s hook is not world class.

Devon doesn’t lie, he doesn’t stroke egos. So he’s telling Matt the truth. So presumably we’re dealing with some specific weakness that is really only going to be fixed with practice with elite pullers. Whether or not he’s ever going to have the time for that, we’ll see.

Don't have much time to travel the world training when you work full time on the rigs. Devon should be training Matt’s hook and his inside game where he is less comfortable and fighting for setup together seriously before hand each time. These tools Matt needs more than training his strengths. Every time I see these two grip up, Devon let’s Matt pull him outside and run his lane. This is why he’s been been having trouble. He needs to train where he is weakest and bring those up as his strengths. Versatility is so powerful.

  • @FutureAbe

I wonder if Matt being calm here is a big help. He can go pretty wild in competition.

Two takeaways. Styles make matches and Matt has been facing guys that don't pull like Devon. So when Matt practice pulls Devon he looks good. The other thing is maybe Matt should try left handed matches, his left looks good. Granted Devon's left isn't good but still Matt's left looked good.

If Matt could put into the sport more than just a hobbyist's level of commitment, he would unquestionably have more W's at the world level. It's the same problem RVJ faces in his weigh class. That said, Devon always allows his sparring and scrimmage partners into their absolute best lanes. He puts himself in trouble, gives away everything, and then goes to work from there. Also, some guys just match up closer than others.

Well, in top roll Matt maybe stronger, but his side/inside is levels below mentioned Sandris and Jordan, and Devon didn’t hook him to feel his level, but Matt was hooked by both gentlemen Devon mentioned, so yes, back pressure/hand control is there, but until Matt improves his side/hook he will keep losing to guys who can turn his arm inside

It was a nice Match. Devon is the legend WAL King of the Table but not invincible. Matt has been a very strong opponent for him in the past. Both belong to the absolute WAL elite. If Devon retires due to age, the new king of the WAL will be Matt Musk, or Levan I'm sure. Hopefully we will see many more exciting duels in the Future. 💪😎👍🔥

It's the wrist Matt internal rotation is tight but that wrist if you could get more weight behind your wrist and try and keep it in a tight position that hand strength is good

I wonder if this is a styles make matches situation where Matt Mask's style is very good against Devon. Possibly because Devon has been focused so much on pronation and rising versus cupping? Pullers who cup Matt in seem to disarm him.

Lol what. Sure. But Devon’s best friend is Matt and he’s doing Matt tremendous favors as the arm wrestling community is borderline retarded. As am I but I can see how ridiculous it is that Matt does great against devon and is toyed with with everyone else.
