This is the Way | Devon Larratt’s Current Training Methods and WHY He Does Them

Спорт

#DevonLARRATT #RobbieKARSTENDIEK #Armwrestling
During his stay in Louisiana, Devon took the time to show super strong up and comer Robbie Karstendiek all of his current training methods and why he does them. More do’s and don’ts he’s learned throughout the years. Always useful information to pick up whether you’re new or seasoned in the sport.

    There are many approaches to armwrestling training. Devon's method is one of the many. It is what fits him the most. When he was younger like someone mentioned, he did a lot of heavy classic armwrestling lifts. But with injuries and with his age, this seems to work best for him. A lot of useful information here though. Very very different from Eastern school of armwrestling training. I would definitely recommend total body strength training and this for armwrestling specfic training.. in addition to table time of course to practice against actual human opponents.

  • @leonbremer4216

    @leonbremer4216

    I would consider the eastern school as the best ( fits the most), devons training style is not possible for most people ( time AND revovery), questionable if its a good method even for him.

    @@leonbremer4216 Yeah I was thinking along the same lines too. The Eastern school of AW training probably is the way to go for most people. However these micro movements that Devon does... it definitely has its place among the many methods of AW training. Probably best suited for guys having similar build and issues like Devon's.

    I understand the idea of Devon not fan of warming up because he's used to be in army and soldiers don't warm up when enemy show up, they are ready to fight anytime and you're enemy won't wait for you finishing warm ups.

    I always find Devon's methods incredibly interesting. I wonder though, it seems that this style would be great if you are already a great, strong, arm wrestler. To build yourself up to be a strong arm wrestler you need a lot more, right? Or perhaps it's the Brzenk method, which Devon seems to have adopted: arm wrestle to be good at arm wrestling. So this would just compliment your actual workout which is done at constant practices. I'd love to see some in-depth discussions between Devon and other pros about this method of training.

    I dont know how much experience you have, like you might be 10 years into armwrestling already, so it would be like telling my dad how to fuck right, but in case you are not, with my couple years experience I would say that if you have weekly practise there is not really much more you can realistically even do. Recovering fully from a heavy table time takes more than a week, so if you can manage to compliment that with this youre already doing "professional" levels of work. Just my opinion.

    Right. It's hard to say. Some strength is pretty easy to build with regular gym lifts before you do the specialized stuff.

    If you could lift 200+lbs on these two lifts there would be few people in the world that could beat you arm wrestling.

    Devon's absolute love of the game is nonpareil. He even offers to help train his opponents he defeats (Ermes), but out of love, not ego.
