You can tell that it's a new voice actor playing Sarif, but all in all, this new guy did a pretty good job.

The only thing that feels wrong is that he doesn't have his surfer accent myan. He rode a lot more waves back in the day myan.

I am open to giving other voice actors a shot at roles that were someone else's, but I would be lying if I said that I didn't miss the og voice actor for the previous role as david sarif.

Hugh Bennett well it was experiencing a revitalization with the advent of augs and having Sarif there was probably like having Amazon or Google move in

The new voice actor they got for Sarif is hilarious. It's not even like they got a new voice actor, but he's pretty good at imitating the role, this guy is just so blatantly NOT Sarif. The voice he had in Human Revolution may have been a bit cheesy at times, but I liked it. It reminded me of a commanding grandfather. This guy reminds me of a shy IT guy that is intentionally trying to make his voice sound more gravely. And it's not even that his performance is bad, it's just the voice doesn't sound even REMOTELY similar.

I hated the part where you had to either GOAD or CONCEDE, such a conversation should have been natural meaning Jensen would concede to it. Sarif always looked out for Adam, would be a shame if we don't see him make another appearence.

Sarif might have his flaws, but his passion for self controlled, human evolution is the real deal. He wasn't in it for the money, but to open a path to the future. His obsession could make him play dirty, but he still cared for the people who worked for him.

I miss Sarif's old voice actor. This guy sounds and looks younger than in the last game. Too submissive, not as headstrong as he was in Human Revolution. Could be a writing choice, but I'm still getting used to him. A lot of the game feels like it's only loosely linked to Human Revolution. Very few old characters, totally different look.

I don't think that's the reason. Apparently, there was some kind of unspecified falling-out between Stephen Shellen (the man who voiced Sarif in Human Revolution) and Eidos. For all intents and purposes, Sarif sounds and acts exactly the same here as he did in the previous game. Same verbal tics, close speech pattern.

There's a video he made as a joke that made him look insane. Something about fruit flies and...well yeah. People took it seriously and that caused him to lose work.

Idk, a lot happened in those two years, Sarif basically lost everything he built up in his company after the incident. It would make sense a blow like that would change a man's perspective and attitude.

A part of me thinks that the newest Deus Ex games are more style over substance. And i'm not entirely wrong on that considering we're only 10-12 years away from when this game takes place which kinda sucks you out of it. But I gotta give credit, I love the style and music of the newer Deus Ex. Especially in Mankind Divided, it looks allot more sharp now. Now when I say "Style over substance" it doesn't mean the game is just "meh" because it is a Deus Ex game. The gameplay alone is amazing, but the story much like Human Revolution still doesn't compare to the original. I mean when you play Dues Ex now, allot of the shit you see in that game are relevant today. Like terrorism, I mean that game came out before 9/11, and instead of the twin towers it was the statue of liberty. Deus Ex is meant to show where we're going, or where we might be going. So I hope in the next Deus Ex, that they don't make augmentation one of the main story points, just make it more background stuff.

I can see your point. I know I'm probably going to get some stick for this, but I think the writing in Invisible War, as much of an epic fuckup that game was (thanks, Xbox!), is stronger than this.

If Sarif made it out of Panchaea, he had his left arm augmented. Here is the description: As of Mankind Divided, his left arm appears to be augmented as well (as seen via gesticulation during his initial vid-call with Jensen). This is assumed to be a result of injuries sustained during the Aug Incident and explosion of Panchaea.

@@TheCraftKox2132134 Well in the video he says he was at death's door when the rescue crew pulled him out of the wreckage. Most likely his arm was crushed by a collapsed ceiling or perhaps some of the crazy civilians, going savage from the transmitted signal Hugh Darrow activated, started a fight with him and badly damaged his good arm.

The bit of banter about Arcologies mirrors what's going on today. Everyone wants to self-segrgate, have their own little Safe Space. It'll do nothing but promote conflict. I like how they fleshed-out the Conspiracy in this game, makes you start seeing parallels in reality. Clearly, someone's done their homework, brained-out the "Hows" and "Whys"...

  • @TheSweetSpirit

Trying to separate yourself from the world thinking it will prevent conflict isn't going to work, because we still ultimately share the same planet. Even if it works out in the long run, it would undoubtedly create problems in the future as civilization yet still continues to expand. At least, that's what I would think someone against arcologies might say without me doing any research what-so-ever. I have no personal opinion myself, I'm just trying to think of a possible reason why it may promote conflict.

  • @vincentstark7093

Interesting. I don't see it as preventing conflict in general; just a way for people to pursue projects without having to worry about bigotry and intrusion from certain parties.
