Great Video.....really surprised at the decay of the signs and plaques and even the Historical buildings that are in such disrepair. This was the Beginning area's of America.....they should be pristine!

Thanks for watching! I hear you, I think it comes down to volunteers and maybe funding but I really don't know.

Very good job. I appreciate you putting this together. It has given my high school students an informational foundation as we explore the importance the Crossing and it's importance to Washington and the Turning Point of the Revolution.

Great video and education lesson on what happened around that area. Thanks for highlighting the area and all of the beautiful history that it has. They are actually redoing the park from Grant money they got from the state. Also. Side note, I live about 12 to 10 minutes from Washington crossing State Park on the PA side. Every Christmas Day they do a reenactment of Washington crossing the Delaware River. It is very interesting and informative on what happened that day. Next time you come into the area you should hit me up and I'll show you some more historic areas

Thanks for the kind words and for checking out the video. Also, appreciate the new information. Every year, I say I'm going to make it out there for the reenactment but something always gets in the way. One of these days!

I was there and it was a great description! I'm curious if you know anything about the route Washington took from this point to Trenton. Are there particular roads he took that still exist? Was it through a wooded area that is still wooded? Or perhaps the details of the exact route were never recorded.

Hi Gary, thanks for watching! I believe they have a good idea of the route and it does start at that one spot I was at and it goes out away from the water East a little bit then heads South. I believe they entered somewhere in Trenton by King street as I believe it was called at the time. I also believe it was mostly snowy and I always heard about their being bloody footprints from the men that had ragged or no footwear although that may be a myth. It would be cool to retrace it but assume a lot of it is on private property now.

@@TheMickeyShuffle thanks for the info! When I visited the old barracks years ago, I actually asked the tour guide about the soldiers not having shoes and he told me that was just a myth and very unlikely. Seriously, could you imagine marching miles through snow without shoes on? If I weren't wearing my insoles I couldn't make it!😅

@@edited7382 I totally agree...wouldn't you get frost bite? That pretty much sounds like complete torture but would help explain why it too much longer to get to Trenton although I think the main issue was just crossing the Delaware. No matter what, pretty cool story if you like American history!

If you have never been, it's def worth it. If you can pick a nice day this week and do the visitor's center and then down the road to the tombstones, it's a great experience. If it rains a lot this week, I'm not sure if you can pass that water part to get to the tombstones though.

Yeah Washington was overrated in-fact Ole Pete was a better leader but Washington D.C would be named Ole Pete DC and the "MAN " had a problem with it
