Haha. Exactly! She did just that. And since she has a faux fireplace she loves, she wanted more people to have one too. ❤️❤️❤️
The shelf/mantle will really make that faux fireplace work. Great ideas. The trauma of not being able to hang anything on the walls I don't like to think about. Damn landlords and historic buildings, and praise the 3M command strip. I have spent a fortune on them, I wish I'd invented them ...

@@LaughCryDIY Love it! Thx for the links. I have a power room I need to finish and that wallpaper would look nice.
Oh, starched fabric panel mosaic is such a great idea! It's also less then a struggle then the giant panel I starched on my wall buy bringing more interest. Also a great idea as a faux bed head. We have these weird woodchipped structured wallpapers in 99.9 % of rentals in Germany ("Rauhfaser") which is my personal nemesis. In my case even on the Ceiling. 😬But you can even remove the liquid starch panels safely from these (and from ugly faux wood dorm room furniture btw) so that's such a great option!

Super fun episode! Love the bathroom tips. That paper is next level. Your point about painting the ceiling 20% lighter is a valuable tip. I have a drop-in ceiling that I loath. There are some great options to replace the acoustical tile that is so offending. I tried a few options but they ended up feeling claustrophobic. It's an important thing to consider and a lesson I learned! Also, "low key spooky ho" described me in a new way lol 🤣😁

In the first sewing nook, on one of the walls to the left or right outside the nook, I would create a tall narrow box possibly made of wood to fit bolts of fabric all vertically . They then almost become like art...kind of like a giant flower vase, but with wood and fabric

That bat/moon/flower wallpaper is da bomb! Thanks for all your cool ideas, finds and most of all enthusiastic inspiration! Love those gold shell cabinet pulls - I'm in the middle of refreshing my bathroom and those shell handles will look awesome alongside my old wavy drawer pulls, soon to be spray-painted gold. I think I may try sticky tiles in a Moroccan style for the floor. If only I could think of a good way to combine a tropical jungle look wallpaper on the only open wall (half tiled) with the coolest Mermaid shower curtain ever (sort of classic Indian stone statue). It is the piece de resistance and I just had to order it, the second I saw it. Maybe I could do something with the ceiling to help bring both the jungle and the mermaid together? Still debating on the wallpaper:).

Thank you! I hope we can all have bat wallpaper in our homes someday.
I just finished the restroom: tiles behind the hanging toilet (resembling small slabs of stone) and walls painted in a dark greenish blue... or blueish green (opinions may vary). Didn't dare to paint the ceiling and trim in the same color, though. OTOH, the white ceiling does allow for some nice patterns when the light is on (the Grindfallet from Ikea). Now I only have to find a room where I can use that wallpaper...

Nice work, especially the bathroom--omg, the wallpaper! If I use a tapestry with the starch trick, as wallpaper, will it ruin the tapestry? Does it rip when you take it off the wall, or can you just wash it? I know tapestries are cheap, but I love this one and don't want it to die.
@LaughCryDIY
Жыл бұрын
Good question. So in my experience I’ve done it with cotton or poly blend material, which is fine if you wash it out. Basically, if you would be fine using liquid starch on the fabric to iron it (as is its original laundry purpose), it should be fine. I would double check manufacturer directions on the starch to ensure. It doesn’t rip (in my experience), but I would suggest taking a large damp sponge to dampen it when you remove it to be extra safe.
awesome video, hope you won't mind me adding a suggestion for the person who is creating the tiny sewing space, get castors on the real wood top desk you choose, drill holes at the back of the desk top, now you know why I'm suggesting wood lol. make yourself a bolt holder you can slide all those bolts into (use heavy zip ties to attach to the desk) out of fabric you know you can handle seeing when in other spaces of the area. textiles will be tucked away from both sunlight and daily sight, but easy to see and access by just rolling the desk out.

Hi just recently discovered your channel and now I'm binge watching all your videos. About to move into a rental home that has not so cute wood paneling all through out the house 🥴. What do you suggest I use to freshen up the place and bring it back to modern day. I was in to glam but I'm starting to like maximalist Hollywood deco vibes.
@LaughCryDIY
Жыл бұрын
Oooh, that’s a tricky one. For the walls specifically, I think you’ll need to lean into some maximalist moments. For example… -A grand gallery wall with frames. -I’m also a big fan of framing large swaths of wallpaper (think via poster frames) and “wallpapering” a wall that way. -with command strips, you could ‘mirror’ and entire wall. Ikea has 12x12 mirror tiles that work great for this. But really I think it’s about the other color and textures in the space: velvet, mirror, fringe, lacquer. Some bold colors there will keep focus on furniture and other decor vs. the walls.
@anitamabel2249
Жыл бұрын
Oh my goodness thanks so much for the brilliant ideas. I will take pictures when I do it.
I don't know how you get command strips to work, it has never held up for anything I've done: lights frames etc . The only thing that sort of works for me is the Velcro strip.
@LaughCryDIY
Жыл бұрын
Aw, sorry to hear that. I’ve heard it can really depend on the type of paint on the wall, maybe? I’ve never used the Velcro strip but good to know it’s a solid backup.

In a small space, sometimes you just gotta lean into it. But with bold, larger patterns in a small space it can make things feel bigger than you light think. Fortunately, the tiles are actually these thin tile stickers that go over existing tile (as opposed to those thicker vinyl ones). I have them in my bathroom and they’re great but low damage. The wallpaper is a high-quality peel and stick too (which is the only kind that’ll work in a bathroom), so should remove just fine. ❤️
Idea I would LOVE to see you do--- Anthropology (sp?) Has these $60 curtain tie backs that looks like snakes. Girl, I know you could hack that for under $10. Show us your magic!!
@LaughCryDIY
Жыл бұрын
I’ve seen those! TBH, I don’t know why those in particular give me the creepy crawlies even though I see why they’re cool. I’ve seen other things like snake sconces or candle holders, which are super cool and goth, but those tie-backs just freak me out. Haha. (I also know Baguette will attack them-lol.) But if I were to do it, I would do air dry clay, gold spray paint, and e6000 them onto some plain tie-backs.
