    As a former doorm and furnished micro apartment dweller, liquid starch is my all-time favorite tip! Its crazy how it even sticks to cheap melamin furniture. For walls - I recommend a light wight fabric. I also used very heavy cotton fabric succesfully, but then you will need to have assistance or a possibity to temporarely fix it while putting up a very large piece (I used a lot of heavy duty painters tape, but if you dont have concrete or brick walls, push pins might suffice)

    A great tip for renters that I realised after moving away from renting; you can paint the walls the same colour they already are without breaking rules or aski g your landlord! Sounds weird i know but hear me out; that flawless, clean wall feels absolutely different to live with than the stained, damaged walk that other tennants have had for years. Even if you cant decide the color you can upgrade the space and have a fresh, clean slate❤

    Thanks for the inspiration! I constantly gather ideas and love to redo or just tweak spaces in my apartment - so thanks for the ideas and examples! I have used contact paper to cover those horrible (usually beige) countertops, in both kitchen and bathroom. I recently saw someone use pink marble contact paper in their daughter's first apartment - it went from boring to gorgeous - she even did a backsplash! FUN. In the 70's when I had my first apartment, my dad had bought me an avocado green fridge... I used contact paper to cover it. lol

  • @LaughCryDIY

    @LaughCryDIY

    3 ай бұрын

    Ooh! OK, so a few things… -To actually drill in you need a masonry drill bit. If it feels a little overwhelming, that’s a super easy thing you could get a handy person to drop out for you. -There are adhesive ceiling hooks for concrete, depending on how heavy the light is. Those tend to be pretty light though. I haven’t used them myself, but may be worth the experiment: www.amazon.com/Adhesive-Concrete-Textured-Unsmooth-Drilling/dp/B0CL779618 3) if there is an existing light fixture and you get a separate paper lantern just to pop over it, they are sooooo light, they can be command stripped to the ceiling with multiple strips! Command strips work on concrete. Just remember to give enough clearance and use a low-heat bulb. Best of luck!

    @@LaughCryDIY Thank you so much! It's about 1.5 , no existing light fixture, so I think the adhesive hooks will do it, if not I'll get a handy person. Thanks for your help!

    I need all tips and tricks. I bought a house last week.... the walls are grey. Paint, and decor and all the things, but I'm also a cheap whore, and need to buy basically all of the appliances and furniture, so quick and easy fixes are also much needed over here.

    Congrats on the house!!!!! Huge deal. And, yeah, just remember it’s a process so one lil thing at a time.

    What’s best, most effective way to hang things on painted brick in VERY old building 🤷‍♀️

    ps SOOOO grateful for this video! First time renting in 40 years, VERY frustrating when you’re used to having free reign creatively 😑

    Ooh that’s a tricky one. And I so feel your frustration. A few things I might try… -Depending on how much overhang you have between bricks, these brick clips might be an option: www.amazon.com/Brick-Hanging-Outdoors-Hangers-Picture/dp/B0CPP8YDR4?source=ps-sl-shoppingads-lpcontext&ref_=fplfs&psc=1&smid=A1GMG64W1V4UVQ -Gorilla mounting putty might be good for very light things: www.amazon.com/Gorilla-Removable-Mounting-Putty-Off-White/dp/B0873Z7Y42 -I’m not sure how textured the brick is after what I assume might be layers of paint. The Command strips site says it won’t work on brick (because of the unevenness) but will work on painted cinder block (which is smoother), so it may be worth an experiment, depending on what you wanted to hang. Hope these help.
