Describing a transformation with vertical and horizontal stretch then graphing
👉 Learn how to identify transformations of functions. Transformation of a function involves alterations to the graph of the parent function. The transformations can be dilations, translations (shifts), reflection, stretches, shrinks, etc. To sketch the graph of a transformed function, we start by sketching the graph of the parent function and then we apply the required transformations to obtain the required graph.

when that girl said “no” after he asked if they were ready, i felt that.
I think you've done a mistake here: f(8) = -2 not 0. But it is a nice video. Thank you ;)
@DeBrogliez fixed it, thank you so much for looking out!
thank you!
I know, pre-calc requires a lot from the student. You need to make sure you brush up on all of your algebra skills as that is where most students get frustrated with the math

we love you Brian mclogan
This video is amazing, helped me study for my quiz tomorrow. Thank you!!
THANK YOU SO SO SO FREAKING MUCH
THANK YOU for this video! I have been through many videos on this topic, and this is the first one that helped me understand transforming the graph of a function by shrinking or stretching. You made it very clear. The formulas that describe vertical stretch, vertical shrink, horizontal stretch, and horizontal shrink are extremely helpful, too. I copied them into my "Math Toolbox". (I like to call the notebook that contains the most helpful math related notes my "Math Toolbox". As with any strong and comprehensive toolbox, I keep it on hand in case I need it, even far beyond the project that spurred me to collect the tools.)

Not me in an accelerated summer college algebra class breathing through panic attacks because I have a massive exam every 5 days (today is my 3rd exam) testing me on dozens of complex topics I 'learned' in 4 days that I am expected to master after spending 30+ hours/per scrambling through HUGE homework assignments that take me a whole day to complete and I have No IdEa WhAt I'M dOiNg-- not to mention I haven't been in a math class for over 4 years and I took a 3 year break from school to get employment which I now cannot have because THIS MATH CLASS IS A FULL-TIME JOB and I have TWO OTHER ACCELERATED CLASSES ontop of this class that I have to cram last minute because every hour of my week is otherwise spent doing math I don't understand and I'm hyperventilating, laughing, and bawling my eyes out all at the same time :') Lesson: Never, under ANY circumstances, take an accelerated math class unless you are naturally comfortable with or gifted in math. It's barely humanly possible.
wait wouldnt it be square 16 then minus 4 . around 6:35. because the k value is a reciprocal of what is shown. am i wrong? I mean you'd still get zero when you square 16 then remove 4. And why are you then taking away 2. wait..whattttt

Why did the equation change at 6:50?
college level mathematics is definitely more in depth than high school mathematics.

ya -2 instead of zero but it is a great video thanks
