Back in the 80s they couldn't get a 1911 to properly run with blanks. The Star could be converted to reliably fire blanks. They use the Colt for close ups and the Star for shooting. They did the same thing in the movie the Untouchables.

Thomas Magnum put his 1911 at his 6, with out a holster, in his short shorts 🩳.

It seems to be a version of the Lock Leather holster ?

In Magnum PI, Tom Magnum used a 1911 for the most part.

Only thing keeping me from purchasing this for the SA-35 is lack of leather side block of the safety.

What kind of leather gun belt do you use

The lighting for the "hey look at this" part was terrible. Despite 2 dedicated shots of the internals, AND holding the mouth of the holster open, the "clicky" part is just a blob of darkness.

My sa35 in my review was not good...

Give the guy a break. The shirt looks fine. Great review of the holster. It's the only other realistic option besides my Serpa for my G43. How much pressure does it take to release the retention device? Will it hold the pistol securely if I get knocked on my ass or bounce around on my motorcycle? That's an absolute requirement.

I was directed to this video by a DeSantis email offering a 20% discount on this holster. But the price quoted in the email, $88.99, is 11.25% higher than the $79.99 price shown in this video. Hmmm.

Cool video, a year old but still relevant. I must say, I don’t like belt holster or “pancake” style holsters that don’t have a thumb strap for a “cocked & “locked” gun (Hi Power, 1911’s red…). I need that leather thumb strap the secures the gun between the cocked hammer and the slide. I find “1791 Gunleather” holsters rather superb in this market.

How do you release the pistol?

I was wondering same thing. I tend to think it does not "lock". The click is the big selling feature.

Stop saying "your grandfather's holster". Anyone with a brain knows most Kydex holsters feel like crap and give your pistol's finish a rash every time you use it. Start talking about the attributes of fine leather with modern updates. They're the best of both worlds. My Grandfather was a United States Deputy Marshal in the Arizona Territory days, my Dad was a State Cop for 37 years and they both would have liked this holster.
