Springfield Armory SA-35, A New Hi-Power!

Спорт

Springfield Armory does a remake/update on the FN Browning Hi-Power and names it the SA-35. Chambered in 9mm, it holds 15 rounds in its magazine, has no hated magazine safety and some other upgrades to make it a relevant choice for today's market. And the MSRP/Street price won't break the bank anymore!

I like what Springfield did here with some modern upgrades while keeping to the original spirit of the Highpower. It intrigues me more than the new one that FN released at Shot Show. Taking original mags is another plus over the FN.

And, Springfield brought this to market for $699. How much does FN's new "High Power" run? $1500... Yeah... I'll take the one that I can buy two of, and has a 99% compatibility with the original.

I love the original high power too, but I’d rather buy the SA35 than the new F. The SA35 is about the same price as a CZ75 b. Which would all of you rather have - CZ75 or SA35?

The Hi-Power WAS designed to be thin, that's why it still carries so well for edc. It was LESS than 1 1/2 in. in width. Your facts are wrong.

Another improvement is that the Browning High Power uses a 2 piece braised barrel while the SA35 uses a one piece cold hammer forged barrel. I have not heard of any problems with a 2 piece barrel, but I don't see why they would use 2 piece barrels. The SA35 does not have a firing pin block that is part of the BHP Mark III.

Yet another reason why Springfield Armory is my favorite manufacturer... They produce classics like the milspec 1911, also the Ronin 1911, Operator, etc., and the loaded M1A rifle, a faithful semiauto copy of the M14. Add this SA-35 to the party and it's all good!

Which is why I'd stick with the SA-35. The original doesn't need a complete rework, and Springfield didn't completely rework it, they just made a few changes that a lot of people have wanted for the design for a long time... and they did it without making it unreasonably expensive. FN basically made a new pistol and thought they could cash in on the name and charge custom pistol prices for it.

Are the mags compatible between the original Hi-Power and other clones? I am in a certain state where I can't order additional high capacity mags. I bought my original Browning in '92 and it's blue and stainless an love the look. The 2 - 13 round mags are working well but I would like a few more mags. Thanks for the content!

Yes. Magazines interchange. In fact almost all parts interchange. I have a Browning HP that was tuned by Terry Tussey and when I got thr SA35, I swapped the sear and hammer so I coukd get a tuned trigger on ghe new HP. I also swapped the ambi safety from the Browning to the SA35 but it wqs quite stiff and the Browning safery does bot have a shelf for positive application of force so I re swapped the SA35s safety back in. So the internals interchange.

I have shot and carried BHPs sense 1975 when I was Issued one. I acquired a SA35 and got what I expected from Springfield. Not much. I have not had the extraction problems I have heard some have but the barrel is junk. At 25 yards it won't shot shotgun patterns. A Brownells drop in BHP barrel cut group size in half. I have a Cylinder and Slide barrel coming. Sent from my wife's phone.
